Well then. My hunch was right. She just left and she went in for a kiss as she was leaving. Damn. She said we should hang out again. I'm torn. First off I had a really good time. She loves Korra and it was fun watching it with a fellow fan. Also she plays games and was really good at Smash. But the best thing is that it was nice to be able to talk to someone about this cancer and treatment since she's going through the same thing. We talked quite a bit about it. But I wasn't going into this for that reason.

Ah well. I think I'm just going to go for it. Person I liked won't ever like me so I should just move on. So I think I'm going to move on. Wish me luck guys! I guess either way I got some more support for this. I've been super lucky this past week. I really needed a break for a year and now I'm getting it.

:) nice

People like Asami because I. She had a likable personality II. She had an interesring backstory with her mom being killed. III. She had an interesring plot when her dad decided to join the equalist movement and she had to go against her father IV. Her story had potential with her business being blacklisted because her fathers actions (her name was disgraced), she had no family anymore and her group of friends were conflicting because of what happened with Korra and Mako.

Book 1 wasn't very good with the character aspect in terms of making them interssting and giving them depth. So Asami came out it looking the best alongside Tenzin and Lin. However the writers have continually failed her character by pushing her to the side and throwing away her potential plot. It's telling that Asami had the best story out of the side charcters going into Book 2 and yet had almost zero screen time except being Makos booty call.

You have a point about her actual design maybe not being unique. But I still think she stood out the strongest in Book 1. Best I can say now is that at least they haven't made her worse as the show has gone on? I still think she's very likable. But she really has no plot anymore. And she's been kind of reduced to a perfect support charcter that always provides them with money and the right weapons/vehicles (that in itself isn't bad, but there is nothing to it and it kind of comes off..in a cheap way).

+1 to all of this

and as satch as eluded to before "shes like Appa without any of the charm"

I still personally like her. But I totally see your criticisms. I would say a chaarcter like Bolin has a much more distinct personality...and yet I've hated how they used it in Book 2 and 3 (well just me persobally. I see a lot of people say Bolin has been great every season).

Nah i agree and it seems season 4 is still full steam ahead on the "Bolin sucks shit" train.

I think she's more like Qin Shi Huang, which makes sense since The Earth Kingdom is a chinese analogue anyway.

So she's gonna succeed and become a fucking lunatic then? :p

Though it does seem like a lunatic in charge (with a plan) is probably the best for the Earth Kingdom. They don't seem to dislike her over there if there buying T-shirts of her willingly.

That clearly isn't how the writers are portraying the character though. If Kuvira was male she'd be twirling her mustache every 5 seconds.

dude she built prison camps.
Hey now those are totally happy camps for some simple Re-kuviracation.
We all know that Kuvira the Uniter knows whats best for the Earth Kingdom right now.

Edit: sorry for the off topic talk.

Personally like her. But I agree. Not a fan of the evil visual cues and the dialogue. It comes off as like, the audience is dumb and needs to be told. Granted, kids do watch this show lol

I always get what I want...

That's fantastic news.
I'm rooting for ya Azula.

The shipping IS real.
Do kids even watch Korra anymore? I can't imagine them going to nick.com every friday to watch. A few probably do but I imagine that most of the kids who watched Korra on TV don't even bother with the show anymore.

Well I can say my sisters are constantly talking about the show and Gravity Falls every time I talk with them. They're always hyped up for Korra on Friday.

I know she's totally evil, it's just that they have never portrayed an earth kingdom under actual decent rule on either show. The only part that was decent was when the Gaang power bombed the Dai Li to talk to the Earth King and even after that I do believe he eventually left to travel the world. Earth Kingdom just seems like it's so spread out and rife with chaos that it needs a little bit of an iron fist.

Hitler built prison camps for jews because they were scapegoats designed to turn the nation's attention away from their real problems.

I hope one of the imprisoned guys is Magneto

She's really going for that Hitler aesthetic though- the helmets and armor make that pretty obvious.

well the Queen being a massive bitch didn't stop some old lady having her picture on a wall like a shrine. :p

You doubt it?

i'm 50/50 tbh

that would mean republic city would be reintegrated

That old lady was old school. You could tell some of the younger generation gravitates towards Kuvira, while the older governor didn't want anything to do with her for example. Besides that woman contributed in some fashion to Bolin's DNA how intelligent could she really be.

It's pretty fascinating to see the writers actually going into a subject like start of fascism. Need for a unifying leader in a chaotic state, people like Bolin joining because they see more good than harm, the opposing power (the Prince) doing nothing for the people. Then you have the international community not wanting to do anything forceful about it (which makes sense, no one would like starting a war with the biggest nation on the planet.)

Anybody ever wonder if Wu wasn't the only potential candidate? That Raiko and the United Republic chose Wu because he was an idiot and easily manipulated. Because if they chose Wu over somebody more qualified they sort of brought this scenario all on themselves because they wanted to head a puppet regime.

Toph said Korra was afraid that she would be put back in a situation where she'd be in great danger, which is probably why she can't get over her PTSD? Korra seems eager to get back in shape and protect the world.... So if Toph is right, does that mean Korra wanting to get back in shape to be the avatar again was kind of her lying to herself or something?

Azula! Congratulations on making a new friend!

I have a feeling that Toph won't leave the swamp until the final battle. One thing though: Would a constant earthquake mess up Toph's seismic sense? Can she still see you if everything is shaking?

Yeah I kind of think Korra will leave the Swamp and Toph stays behind only to make an appearance towards the end of the season.

kuvira's such a g. when su yin told her it was time to step down and she responded with "I stepped up" I was
aqDwC.png

it's ashame they are going to nerf her and probably make her become a one note villain going forward like in the past

Kuvira the goddess out here saving a nation from chaos but will be turned into a joke at the end of all of this...it hurts

The big thing about empires is that they usually involve the taking of multiple states. I can see this leading to the United Republic tbh

The last episode was ok. I just thought Kuvira's speech felt a little too upfront, but I guess they want to move it along at a bit of quicker pace since we only have 13 episodes.

So after taking my sweet time to watch the episode, in general terms I can say this one probably foreshadows many of the developments to mid or end season.
First of all, the somewhat predictable turn of events between Kuvira and Wu happened a little faster than I thought, and of course that brought the rift in opinions between Mako and Bolin. But the most shocking thing was that Su was still in power in Zaofu, and that Kuvira just split off with her faction. I suppose the action will shift focus to that confrontation
as we saw in those scenes in the trailer, with Suyin losing power and incarcerated
. And we also got a sighting of the Fire Lord, although I don´t think she will be relevant unless we get an expansionist Kuvira attacking the United Republic. Neverless, I still want to get a glimpse of the Fire Nation.

Toph is still Toph, enough said. Best character still, but it was somewhat jarring to have basically a young wrinkled Beifong with same clothes and all of that. But as people have said, maybe she regressed because of her lack of responsabilities, as good or bad it sounds by its implications. That plot point about Korra and her remaining mercury poisoning is obviously for her mental growth and an explanation for her current situation, and Toph was very upfront about her issues with Korra's attitude, in her usual manner.

And because this post is becoming somewhat of a rant, I just want to say that Varrick's research on spirit branches - as energy or weapons - may be the reason for a confrontation between spirits and humans. I think Bryke hinted at it in a interview somewhere, and I believe will play part on the season finale.
