PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | October 2014

is that it? Guess I'll be able to eat out a bit more since nothing about that game has really appealed to me. Gamestop exclusive, bad localization, boring character designs... I dunno.

I'm actually excited for it despite all the bad things I keep hearing about it since it will be my first Tales game. I've been wanting to get into the series for a while but I didn't/don't own a PS3.

I've actually been itching to get into the tales series, but the various bad press around this one has scared me off. I'll probably find a copy of vesperia at some point, but it's not high on my priorities.

It'll be my first Tales game too. I probably won't be bothered too much by whatever makes fans of the series consider it a weak entry, if they do.

Getting the physical copy for sure.

Thanks a lot, mate.
Seeing that my only I-need-this-a-lot games in this 2 months to come are Shadow Warrior, GTA V and Far Cry 4, I'll just bite SW and GTA and then get the Bad_Blood DLC with the $15 I'll get from spending $100. FC4 I'll buythw boxed version.

Keep in mind that how you got the $100 in your account doesn't matter, all that matters is to SPEND $100 on the US PSN Store by or before the 28th of October.

To be on the safe side, spend a little over $100.

I bought the Prince of Persia Trilogy since it's on sale. How did Sands of Time (all I've tried so far) get released like this? It crashed when I started the game three times and crashed when I quit to the menu once...

The PS3 PoP Trilogy runs like ass, you're better off with the PC versions.
Heck I even MADE a thread asking if the PS3 games were worth it and was suggested getting the PC versions.
Grab them off of gog.com when they go on sale, apply the fan mods and fixes, and enjoy the classic.

Hey, all. I have trip coming up soon, and I'm considering picking up Frozen Synapse for the Vita. I read some positive stuff, but little hype has pushed this title off to the side. Any thoughts out there? Always appreciate the opinion of VitaGaf.

It is easily my GOTY this year and by far the best game I have played on my Vita (and I own over 85 games for it). As the Vita is supposed to be a "core gamers" console I find it strange that this game haven't been picked up and praised by more people.

You have absolute control in this game as you can simulate how a turn will play out (assigning complex instructions to how both your own and the enemys units will act) before you lock it down and see the resault.

As it is a game that is about carefully planning your next move, the choice to make the multiplayer asynchronous is a no less than briliant move and this means that you can have a lot of MP matches going at the same time.

The posibility to see replays of your own and other peoples matches are an other fantastic detail that I really like.

Even though the game have a fixed narative that gets the job done, the real stories are created by how you play the game and nothing beats the feeling of satisfaction you'll get from the moments where your plan turns out to be as good as you imagined it to be inside your head.

I can't recommend this game enough and it makes me really sad that it seems like not enough people did buy this game (based on PSN ratings).

Edit: If I could only play one game for the rest of my life, this would be it and I hope that enough people have bought it for double eleven to release the expansion. :D

^Double Eleven's been showing some cool screens on twitter lately, of how the look evolved in development, before they settled on the final style.

Cool studio, worth following imo. I give them props for being such quality work horses on Vita/PSN these last couple of years.

^^^^

Agreed with the guys above on Frozen Synapse.
Prime is just sublime, totally worth the price and wait.

I've also been playing Warriors Orochi 3 Vita ever since I got it for $5, and I have to say that the game looks and runs better than I expected. The pop-in is pretty bad though, rearing its ugly head especially whenever you're trying to do any musou or special attack that has lots of effects.

You see, the enemies are only interactible when they're rendered, so attacks that would normally hit like 60 people only hit 20. It's my only gripe so far in an otherwise enjoyable experience.

If you guys can get it for like less than $30, I would jump on it. But jump on Frozen Synapse first if you like anything strategy.

Anyone ever have this rear camera problem with the Vita? Getting error C4-14638-2 where the camera shows a black screen. I google'd the problem and it looks like the error dates back to the launch in 2012, some people recommended doing a system restore to fix it and it seemed to temporarily fix it for me, but the error just came back and camera doesn't work again.

Seems like a software issue but I did just get a new Vita slim last month. I'm just barely within the 30 day exchange with GameStop.

Good thing I've been aiming for plat in Hatsune Miku Vita since I wouldn't have noticed the problem. Was trying to do the AR thing and was having problems.

So I am playing Project Diva and get to my first Kaito song, the slightly choralic (?) one, and I dislike the guy and his voice. Got a message that I can visit his room, gave him a flick on his forehead for reasons, he liked it. Weird game.

In all seriousness, the game is pretty great. Well music is subjective, but I can find some tunes I like, so that's okay, the gameplay is pretty tight and unforgiving, coming off Theatrhythm I am used to a more lenient timing window, but I looked for a challenge and found it. While I am not that interested in video editing and character customisation, I had a quick look and there is tons of stuff in terms of options and unlockables. While I was pretty unsure after playing the demo, I can definitely see myself spending quite some time with the game, so thanks VitaGAF for selling me on it.

Finished up GoW2 on Vita, and I'm pheening to play 3 again... god damn 2 is so good. I never gave that game enough love.

I kinda realize why all the normal people are so mad that AAA is dead on Vita now. Ok, you're right... new, exclusive GoW, MGS, GTA and all that other stuff for Vita would've been great.

I have GOW3 sitting here since forever, I wanted to get the Vita collection and then play 3 but I don't know if it's a good thing to do. I might get burned on the series before even getting to 3.

Any of you guys played Pier Solar and the Great Architects? I just saw it on the PS4 store, 16-bit RPG. Oh god I want it to be good.

Pier Solar was VERY hyped here on GAF, and if you like classic jRPGs, you'd be a fool not to get it. Go drop your $15 on it now.

Well, went and bought Battle Princess of Arcadias anyway. Now to find out if it's really that bad.

It's not bad at all. The only word of caution I'd really give is that the difficulty curve can be a bit unforgiving, and the game doesn't do a lot to explain some of the systems to you. Like the weapon strength/weakness chart, for instance. You'll have to look at the digital manual that the game has to find that.

Finally beat Spelunky. I've been playing that game for ten months, but between trying to create the Ice Cave passage and Olmec I thought I was never going to do it. Definitely download it if you have Plus!

FUCK NEPTUNIA. Arrgh! Why would you have an event that leads into 3 boss battles with no room to pause in between. Fuck the Killachine!

Lol. I remember getting the combo trophy in the PS3 version thanks to that boss. Lo-Tension status effects for everyone!

They did a great job on PJ Shooter Ultimate, much as I don't care for the art style change personally. Their other PJ ports are solid too. I was apparently the first to find their secret easter egg slipped in PJ ultimate too (you'd know it if you found it)

Couldn't sleep, felt compelled to make this. I'll get a proper screenshot once Content Manager cooperates with me. Goodnight GAF.

PS Minecraft has a Journey skin? That's cool

Yeah Double Eleven is a great team. I'm looking forward to the Nom Nom Galaxy's port, and I should play Shooter Ultimate someday

Ugh, too many games

Starting next month, Game of the Month will be brought back in the PSN thread. For those who are unfamiliar, GotM was a section in the old VitaGAF threads in which posters voted for a Vita game to be featured in the OP. I'm thinking we should extend the voting to all Vita/PS4/PS3 games for this thread but limit nominees only to new releases from the previous month so that people don't go crazy nominating PS3 games from 2006.

Any suggestions/preferences on how I should handle the voting? We can either do it by PM, or I can make some sort of survey link.

couldn't you ask a mod for a poll on the thread?

A survey link would be better. It would be less tedious for you. :)

Thanks a lot. I'll add $100 to my account tomorrow.
Weird is that Shadow Warrior releases tomorrow but I can't find it in the PS Store.

Oh, and I'll get the $15 back right away or only in the end of October?

I look forward to it, Zero! Will have to think about my vote, hmm..

Also, PM is the way to go, imo.

only previous month's games? that would limit it a lot if there are only a few releases during the previous month.

They have the typical (and great) VN style text controls, you can also make it all appear at once which is best for quick skipping stuff you've already read/as soon as you've read each line. Visiting options is usually one of the first things I do.

Oh is NomNom coming over? It's interesting but not really my kinda thing. It's sorta like a Terraria...not quite RTS? Lots of time management in a terraria-like world you can dig around in.

PJ Shooter is amazing, and not especially difficult (though the shmup style bonus level took me a while), I'd be sure to give it a shot.

So you're taking over the PSN threads then?

I vote Call of Duty for GoTM

Go with PMs or a survey link in order to keep it a surprise each month.

That said everyone knows the next game of the Month is definitely the PS+ dark horse, Pix the Cat.

And you can't wote based on metacritic score or some reviewers high praise, right?

Edit: ;)

Should we get a game of the month for each platform rather than just 1?

http://gematsu.com/2014/10/atelier-shallie-coming-west-2015

How many Atelier games are there..?
Its like I find out about a new one every week.

There's like 10 of them, I think. That one's PS3 only so far.

Should we get a game of the month for each platform rather than just 1?

I think so.

I don't know, the OP might become too bloated if we do that. The GotM section would take up too much space.

Make their imprint on the post smaller, write less and/or less pictures or whatever - it's important to give equal standing to the current platforms IMO
