Do I get an automatic conversion of the GFWL achievs to STEAM?
If Scamco repeats what it did with Ace Combat, then yes, but otherwise no.

Hopefully it recognizes the achievements you got on GFWL and unlock them automatically.
How does that work?
I miss one achievement for Dark Souls on GFWL, but I have not my save anymore since I took a new pc.
Might come back to this to wash away the taste of DS2. Especially if the online becomes more functional.
It shows Achievements when I click it on my Library, however, I just made a new character and didn't get any achievements for acquiring an Estus, or arriving in Lordran. Guess they're still transitioning it.

It still logged me in to GFWL, so the patch isn't live yet.
I also just realised how much I missed Dark Souls after DS2. My character was stood right in front of the Anor Londo blacksmith, as that's where I got my 1000/1000 achievement.
Episodes from Liberty City doesn't use GfWL. GTA4 has the achievements for them but it doesn't work like that.
I guess if you bought it from the XBL store (which you're hosed now that that's shutdown)...
Does anyone know if I can punch in my GFWL key to activate it on Steam?
I have a retail and a digital copy of Episodes from Liberty City that I bought on Steam. It says that GFWL is a requirement on the box.
Not my Steam copy. It never asked for GfWL. I'm talking the separate bought version, to be clear. Unless you're running the multiplayer it never asks for GfWL. I never had to enter a CD-key, mess with GfWL/Sign into a profile. I simply booted EfLC.exe and... was in either of the expansions.

So how does this work for people who have it already installed? When the time comes that GFWL gets removed does everyone just need to redownload Dark Souls from Steam again, is that what happened with the Batman games? Or is it like a small 30Mb patch that removes GFWL.
.
We don't know. Wait until they actually announce the move and what their plans/intentions are?
You should and that's not even related to this news. That's how it worked from the beginning.Does anyone know if I can punch in my GFWL key to activate it on Steam?
I can´t get the fucking GFWL launcher to work on Windows 8.1.
Achievements aren't live, there is still no patch in the works.
Either they are starting development now, or From/Namco are just going to dump a patch they have been working on externally.

It should be patched with Durante patch aswell. GFWL should be a secondary concern.
That's not necessarily true; they may implement some tool to transfer saves/achievements as other games did.I guess I'm gonna lose my save files in the progress too![]()

If that's the price I have to pay to get rid of GFWL, then sure.
