PRAISE THE SUN!!!!!!

Man does this news Fucking make me happy!!!!!!!!

This conversion process sounds weird, as well as time limited. What does it mean for people who bought a copy through steam?

I got like, 50+ backups (well, the labeled ones anyway) for my (only) character during various points in the game. What do I do if I feel like going back and beating up Artorias or something for fun, or doing vs Gwyn with Solaire at 120fps for a recording or whatever?

To be honest I think the achievements showing up today was a mistake and Namco jumped the gun a bit.

Completely circumstantial evidence based on the timeline of events and the ambiguous information from their side.

Something similar happened before with some other GFWL title. One of the Arkham games, I think? Or maybe Bioshock 2?

I'm surprised no one from Namco Bandai threatened to kill Gaben over this.

OH MY GOD THIS IS THE GREATEST NEWS IVE EVER HEARD
I can't believe they're letting us take our savegames. OMFG

Recycling my post from the other thread:

well all the "you could transfer your data and achiviements from GFWL for a limited time" is the same as how they do with the Ace Combat Assault Horizon migration to Steamworks early this year. so its not as strange for me.
Also everybody with the game already on steam probably wont have to do nothing, with Ace Combat they just issue a less than 200mb update iirc.

lets hope for VAC implementation, im sick of kicking hackers into pits.

and yes, praise the grossly incandesent sun

I'm curious how the save data transfer is going to work because I played the game offline the entire time. I never bothered to sign into GFWL and just played in offline mode.

If I have to restart then so be it. I'll just run to the catacombs, get my Great Scythe and I'll be good to go.

Migrating saves and achievements? This is even better than I thought.

I'm surprised no one from Namco Bandai threatened to kill Gaben over this.
They already threatened him and everyone with death if they got the game. Why the hell do you think they called it "Prepare to Die" edition?

Meanwhile FromSoftware is a little nicer and just goes with "Artorias of the Abyss."

Do you guys think this patch will also include some performance improvements? It would be nice to have a DS1 port that's as optimized as DS2.

I'm so crazy over Dark Souls that I won't use the save import feature. Will start new playtroughs and 100% everything.
Any sunbro's with me?

Personally I think that is being a a little too optimistic. Either way I'm applauding the good news

I'm not expecting an Ultra HD port with new content but I would take it as a slap to the face if they didn't at the very least incorporate the resolution and mouse/keyboard improvements. I mean, if Durante could do it in about a day or so, there's no excuse why a team of programmers couldn't figure it out.

At the very, very, very least if they fail to implement any changes then I hope Durante or another dude will put out a fix for the Steam version.

It's the only way.
I have my saves but I'll start from the beginning either way.
Been looking for a good excuse to play again.

Wow. When I try to launch the GFWL client as per their instructions, I instantly get a "connection error" that blocks me from continuing. asfdsrtgrsyghdrefhdtf

Help!!

al...most....heart attack!!

PRAISE THE SUN!! /die

very aproppiate avatar.

im not expecting a graphical options or better networking but at least better savegame management. (GFWL sucks at that) and......maybe VAC, please. like i said before. kicking hackers into pits its getting old

I must confess something. I never finished the first Dark Souls. This news is sublime and gives me an even greater purpose to finish it, or even begin the journey anew.

I bought this game months ago, but decided to hold off on playing it until GFWL was patched out, as I'm never reinstalling that piece of software.

My patience has been rewarded. My first playthrough will be all the sweeter now. Praise the fucking sun.

I know the last several times I went to play on the PC, I was frustrated by the crapshoot of getting the game to work. I straight up love that this is happening. Bandai Namco needs some kind of special recognition for following through with this.
