Gematsu: Sony to hold Playstation Experience event in December

I don't expect much in terms of major announcements here. Sony have a lot of games announced already, which need more info being revealed.

So im thinking:

The Order huge blowout.
Bloodborne, new level revealed.
New info on games like Rime, Wild, Everybodys gone to Rapture.
Ratchet and Clank trailer.
3rd partys such as Batman Arkham Knight, Battlefield Hardline. Bundles announced as well.
Uncharted remastered, complete with Uncharted 4 Beta, coming Holiday 2015.

End of show.

Probably playable stuff from the indies they have shown, maybe even first playable rime coverage

I bet we only get 1 new SCE game announced. Its only ever 1 new game.

I bet they have plenty of demos of already known 2015 stuff though but I am more interested in seeing what 3rd parties bring since outside of 1th party next holiday is pretty empty so far.

Ill say they will have

Uncharted. Maybe just a in engine trailer that has shots of gameplay but not a demo.
Bloodborn. A new area is shown.
+ 1 new SCE game. (GG?)
Batman. Trailer introduces a few characters.
Something from MGSV.
Maybe Battlefeild Hardline emerges again.
+ Indie stuff

It will be interesting to see what the split on what is shown here and at whatever Geoff Keighley is doing as well. I could see MGS doing both. Maybe we get a date at one of these shows.

Well, the 20th is almost here which means we're going to get more information regarding this event. If there's going to be some kind of keynote or conference, I imagine we'll know within the next 24 hours.

Even if there isn't, it'll still be a cool way to connect with fans and build some hype for their 2015 line-up.

Other than the head scratching beginning
It was the best showing from sceja in years
I need more of that

Maybe I am thinking more of their pre-conf.

Also that was the first time I had seen an SCEJA conference so maybe I am just not used to the flow. Though I am excited that Persona 5 is making a jump to PS4. I never played the series but I enjoyed the P4 anime.

It's always best to judge a conference by it's content, not it's presentation or flow.

For all the shit that the pre conference had, they announced around 10+ new games at that event. That's a lot of games.

We'd be lucky to have two announcement of new games at this event.

I would love another God of War with Kratos but how exactly would it work?
- All that's left is Athena and Aphrodite
- The world has been completely destroyed
- He gave up the power to kill gods when he "killed" himself
- He killed Zeus, why would he still be mad

GoWII's ending my man.

In Barlog we trust?

I don't honestly know what else Cory has done besides GoWII (I know he had a stint at Crystal Dynamics before returning to SSM), but just because of that game I absolutely trust him. It was the best paced, had the best bosses and best environments. The Steeds of Time; the battle with Perseus; the awesome puzzles; the kracken thing and tearing the goddamn wings off of Icarus! Man, that game was amazing. Definitely my favourite in the series.

That was Jaffe's idea, and it sounded good to me. He said that he'd be willing to direct another GoW, but only if he was allowed to make it more like a Zelda game instead of being linear. The big set pieces could still exist even in that setting. The dungeons would allow for that.

Agreed; I could be like the scale of Shadow of the Colossus meets the world design of Zelda.

I'm expecting a sales update and I'm quite looking forward to it. 15 million PS4s sold by year's end?

I think by this stage that's looking like a conservative estimate. NPD numbers have shown that Destiny is doing the business, there's a GTA V bundle on the way and your typical slew of big titles like CoD: AW, Unity and DA: Inquisition are coming out this holiday season. 15 million by the end of the year at least is a given.

I don't follow sales figures closely, but weren't we at 10 million by E3? An extra 5-10 million since then seems awfully high, especially with Japan not giving two fucks about home consoles any more.

Do you think the hardcore God of War Fans woul accept a new Protagonist ?? (That reminds me of Metal Gear Solid 2 with Raven instead of Snake )

It would be really difficult to make a successor to Kratos, but it's something they've got to do. He's fundamentally unlikable, and besides that his story has ended. The only way I can see Kratos surviving is if he remains in the story as a background or secondary character, perhaps leading a rebellion against a new pantheon of Gods. Heck, I can even see the story being that the protagonist is a demi-god warrior sent by the Egyptian/Norse/Hindi gods to kill Kratos, who's now deemed the harbinger of doom.

To be realistic, Barlog only re-joined SSM about a year ago (August last year, I think it was), so I wouldn't expect anything from them before late 2016 at the soonest.

Yeah, Barlog's post about what he was intending to do when he returned to SSM talked about being completely new,yet feeling familiar.

That tells me it's a reimagining or reboot of an existing IP, and with it being SSM, it's GoW.

Maybe it's the Kinetica sequel we've all been waiting for!

Doesn't Uncharted 4 come out holiday 15? I'd think a beta would come before then, unless you think its going to be delayed.

He's probably assuming that the 'beta' will just be a multiplayer demo 4-6 weeks before release like most 'betas' these days. There's no way Uncharted 4 will miss its 2015 release date.

It varies a bit by region, but the last three months of the year are often as profitable as the proceeding 9. So with 3+ million at the start of the year, and 10 by August (7 million sold, not shipped, still two months removed from the money maker period), 19+ shipped is not too hard for Sony. Japanese lack of interest is less harmful than European increase in interest is beneficial . Let that sink in for a moment...

Frankly I'm just as interested in the panels and I hope most of them are streamed. I like hearing devs talk, although sometimes PR does keep them on a short leash.

I'd like to see Sean Murray show off a new build of No Man's Sky. That's really all I care about from this event. Everything else is puuuure gravy.

I've got it! Next God of War will actually be called Goddess of War and feature Egyptian mythology. The player plays as Bast re-imagined as a warrior cat-girl as she fights the forces of Anubis as violently as possible. Secret plan to get Japan back on consoles.

Other possible God of War continuations:

God of Law: Play as Norse god Tyr on his mission to stop Loki from destroying the world.

War of Gods: Play as a "blessed by the gods" Celtic warrior on a mission to protect their homeland from the invading Roman's and their dark gods.

War, What Is It God For?: Play as Edwin Starr on his mission to ascend to godhood and take over the heavens.

I'd like to see more info on those unique Gamescom games from last years and this years gamescom

Some Rime, Tomorrow's children, Wild, etc...

Plus seeing some R&C Remix footage would be nice

No, he was at Eat Sleep Play (an indie developer). Now he's here. http://blog.bartletjones.com/ Still don't know what "here" is, exactly. It is a video game developer (mostly?), but they are weirdly quiet about what they're doing.

Huh, that's a strange site. I hope he gets to make another Twisted Metal, the last one was fantastic.

After Rohdes Comment on the PS Blogcast i think we will see a new "Big" Game and some smaller stuff of course, release Dates would be great because they have so much announced and we have no idea when most Games come out. Add some new Trailers and it could be a good Event.

People need to release Kratos is most likely going nowhere if the God of War franchise stays.

He is an iconic character and marketing would make sure that he isn't dumped in favor of someone new. It is the game mechanics that need changing, not the character.

If they were going to flip things, the most I could logically see happening is Kratos becoming an antagonist with a new character. I don't think there will be a God of War without Kratos as the main protagonist or at least there in some form.

So maybe I missed something, but why do so many of you seem to be expecting... well, ANYTHING new from this event?

Have Sony ever held an event of their own like this that resulted in any significant new announcements?

I'm thinking they'll set a new God of War in the present day and have the main character be a teen reincarnation of Kratos or something. Turn it into some real Percy Jackson shit.

PSBlog post of this event said:
Attendees will also get an exclusive first look at what’s coming next in 2015, which I am told you will not want to miss.

Scott Rohde in PSBlogcast said:
This is an event for the fans and I am so incredibly geeked about it. We're gonna show you a bunch of stuff that maybe we shouldn't show you yet.

I don't have high expectations, personally, but I'm expecting at least one new announcement, even if it's just a remaster announcement.

Hmmm... could just be me, but those quotes could easily be interpreted as being related purely to already announced stuff as well, couldn't they?

That's my expectations for this event. But at the same time, I'd see it a possibility that they don't want the entire event to be seen as just 'infodump of announced games' and throw in a new announcement or two, be it 3rd-party or 1st-party to richen the news out of this event.

They could, and i'm 100% sure that we know a few of the Games that will be playable or get new Trailers. But showing something completly new would make sense, getting People hyped so they buy the Ps4 for Xmas, but we will see. Maybe it's just new Indie Games that are coming Console Exclusive to Ps4, they had an Event like this before iirc.

Scott Rohde was on last weeks PSblogcast and said that "We're going to show you a bunch of stuff that maybe we shouldn't show you yet.". And the way he says it certainly makes it sound like he's referring to games that we don't know about right now.

I'm gonna get hate but I personally think Sony is lacking any decent exclusives save for Uncharted 4 and Indie games. So far they released Killzone and Knack which were both bad. Then inFamous which was okay but not great and very short and light on content. Then they released DriveClub which had a cluster fuck launch with still an ongoing problem with servers. Then the future they have LittleBigPlanet 3 which still has terrible physics and The Order where so far it doesn't have a good reception save for graphics. Hopefully with Bloodborne Sony step their game up. I'm gonna give Sony the benefit of the doubt as with PS3 they launched turds like Heavenly Sword and Lair in the first year. So hopefully they improve. I want to see Gran Turismo 7, Guerilla Games New RPG IP, Media Molecule New IP, Last Guardian and etc. BloodBorne and Uncharted 4 will be a good start though but we need more stuff to get us excited for PS4.

I personally disagree with the above. Killzone had an entertaining and varied, but flawed and at times frustrating campaign. Infamous was great, although the side missions could have been more varied. It certainly wasn't short for me, as it took me a week to finish the story, and 2½ weeks to platinum the game. Driveclub is an awesome arcade-ish racer, even without the online portion.

Knack and LBP3 aren't really my kind of games, so I can't comment on them, but I'm really looking forward to The Order: 1886. Then there's TLOU remastered, which was new to many coming from the 360, and Resogun, which as a smaller game gets often overlooked in these listings, and it's still getting new content. I loved to play TLOU again in a better form, and I wager many fans of the game would agree on that.

EDIT: Curiously, MLB 14 The Show also tends to get overlooked, eventhough it got good reviews. Sport games aren't really my thing though.

Yeah, the feeling I got from Ascension is that the team has a lot of talent and good ideas, but they have taken Kratos as far as they can. I know why the need him from a marketing standpoint, but I would like see them branch out or do something different.

Kratos should just embrace the Link model, where the character and their defining features remain consistent, but they're all different characters within their own story.

A 'different' Kratos in a different mythology, but keeping the iconic white-ash skin is fine by me.

you guys are hyping this too much.

You're gonna get disappointed.

Just go with no expectations.

Most of us just expect an Uncharted 4 gameplay trailer and possibly a Ratchet and Clank reveal. If that is all they have I´ll be really happy. Everything else is just icing on the cake.

well theres something. Maybe we will see that Guerrilla RPG after all.

Lmao. Zero hype, guy. UC4 will be here, definitely. I'm thinking that's it. There will be other games, but I'd be shocked if I cared about playing them, unless Bend's game is a complete 180 from what we've heard, or we see Guerilla's game.

I love this idea.

Could be that Hello Games can't announce that they're at this event, but they've already announced that they'll be speaking at DICE 2015 in February. So at least there's that to look forward to.

Anything that we don't know about that's releasing Winter 2015 needs to be announced now so they can do their entire PR cycle. I'm expecting big. Updates and release dates for everything before first half of 2015 and titles and trailers for everything in the second half.

Sony are gonna officially launch the Morpheus VR headset with a sub $200 price and a 2015 release date :D

Ok it's a tale from my ass but I want to believe!!

Even though most of you guys don't believe Tidux, what he said is the only reason most of you guys are hyped.

If the rumors turn out to be right, he should really get the credit

He was the first one who actually talked/tweetet about this.

Btw: I am only hyped because so many rumours/announcements happened at once!

First Tidux, then Sony announces the Event, then the french jouranlist, Scott Rohde, that VGX Dude !

Damm too much at once

I hope that "stuff they shouldn't show off yet" isn't referring to cg announcement trailers of games not coming until late 2016/2017.

This event that we’re gonna hold; this is pretty unprecedented. This is an event for the fans, and I am so incredibly geeked about it. We’re gonna show you a bunch of stuff that maybe we shouldn’t show you yet.

Then don't. One of the worst things you can do in this industry is prematurely unveil a game. Few things grind my gears more than seeing a trailer for something, only for it to disappear off the face of the Earth for months/years after.

What was the point in showing that teaser of Gravity Rush 2 at last year's TGS again? It's like having your balls tickled by a feather for an eternity.

I'd like to believe they've learned from the mistake they made with Last Guardian and not show games that are way off.

Maybe they mean they shouldn't show it yet because its less ammo for E3?

And lol at your last sentence.

If you’re interested in attending, details on how you can be part of the event will be released on October 20. Tickets will cost $50 for a one-day pass, and $90 for a two-day pass. Attendees must be 18 or older.

Of course, if you can’t make the event, the PlayStation Blog will be offering “comprehensive coverage” of the event, including “breaking news as well as live video through multiple distribution channels.”

Stay tuned for further details.
