I am stunned at the fact that this happens in America. What type of unruly environment are these people raised in that encourages them to revolt against the police like this? Why aren't the leaders in their community speaking out against this? Grab their smartphones and go through their music and look for suggestive pictures/violent themes found in the music they listen to.

We need a CNN special to get to the bottom of this. I find it patently absurd that these adults are destroying property in the name of the fun and the police aren't mobilizing to stop them. In all honesty, starting fires and destroying business is grounds for the local police to arm themselves and quell this riot. What's to stop these people from looting businesses and bringing down property values? IMHO, flipping over cars warrants the national guard coming in town to keep the peace.

This just makes me weep for the future of America. Our system is doing what it's supposed to do but some people refuse to abide by it. The dude that talked about getting a rush from all this should get fired from wherever he works.

Finally, the OP is right in labeling these adults as thugs. They know exactly what they are doing. If anyone else does this then these actions are viewed as a negative mark on an entire community. Every thug involved in this deserves the full prosecution from the DA. An example needs to be made out of these anarchists hell bent on disturbing the peace of law-abiding citizens.
 
Unbelievable. I blame country music culture and poor fatherhood for promoting this senseless thug behavior.

I don't care about the term at all, just seems like you created this thread with a really obvious agenda. If you want to talk about racial issues, you could create a thread about it and I'm sure many would sympathize. GAF has a progressive community second to none despite what some would claim to the contrary. This thread just evokes the "wah wah wah" sad trumpet noise. It would be great if more people could be direct and just discuss stuff freely without resorting to irony or sarcasm.

Fwiw I agree with you. I've seen gaf call out times where certain words are used to stereotype people. I know exactly what you're saying, unfortunately you'll have the same group of people make the same comments trying to flip it on you.

Those people don't know how to have civil discourse. Frankly? I think they're the true thugs. I sympathize with their points, I sincerely do. But really? Do they always have to be so angry?

On topic, it's interesting to see white people called rowdy after tearing up a town during a pumpkin festival. Black people are called thugs and animals when they protest a kid being gunned down unarmed.

I think he's upset about thug being used to describe them because he can relate to them. Similar to the offensiveness of throwing around pedophile and racist around here. People don't like the idea that they could be one of them.

You may not have explicitly stated it, but it's pretty obvious you wanted to see if white people would deem the riot in Keene in a better light than Ferguson so you could pounce and try to expose them as racists. You were baiting, plain and simple.

Pretty interesting that this is the third thread on the subject and it's the only one to make it past page one.

Who knew White people rioting over pumpkins wouldn't be as catchy as Blacks protesting over a dead black guy? Pumpkin riots seem comparatively pretty rare. You'd think this would be getting some more attention here. Y'all seem to care more about how DreamDrop made the thread than the subject matter itself.
