Wasn't too crazy about it until I saw all the Koopalings fighting each other.
This sounds terrible and humiliating since I don't have any skills whatsoever.Man the eff up and do the 1v7 Lv9 CPU challenge, for goodness' sake.
Wait... What?No online multiplayer mode?
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!!
I know that 'order cancelled' has been used as a joke. But, if I had preodered this game this would definitely make me cancel it.
I have enough controllers to play 8 player Smash.... by myself.
Cool. Glad it won't be an afterthought then.
Good luck finding seven real life friends who are into Nintendo characters and into fighting games.

1080p and 60FPS with 8 players is insane!!!Not only that.
It's 1080p60 frames per second/
The hard part will be narrowing it down to which 7 friends to invite.

Can someone confirm if Smash for the Wii U will have an online multiplayer mode or not?
Wait people would cancel their pre-order for a mode that was literally announced like an hour ago?

Okay. In the 3DS game 2 player matches tend to be a lot smoother than 4 player ones which can become a lag filled piece of shit if one player is a weak link in the chain (and it probably won't be a lot better on the Wii U as the official LAN adapter is discontinued so many people won't bother getting one to help here) and you want to double the number of players? What do you think will happen?Local only? C'mon Nintendo...
In an eight-player battle, the following controllers can be used.
○Wii U GamePad (Max 1)
○Wii Remote or Wii Remote Plus* (Max 7)
○Wii U Pro Controller (Max 7)
○Nintendo GameCube controller** (Max 8)
○Nintendo 3DS series system*** (Max 8)
* Includes expansion controllers (such as the Nunchuk or Classic Controller Pro).
** Two GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U accessories are required to connect eight GameCube controllers (each sold separately)
*** In order to use a Nintendo 3DS as a controller, each Nintendo 3DS system must have Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.
More than 4 Wii Remotes were possible this entire generation???
Your lack of pink nunchuck is bothering me badly.

Lol, have you played 4-player SSB online?Local only? C'mon Nintendo...

Don't be like bububut 12 player Mario Kart works. A racing game is not a fighting game and by Mario Kart works you mean you hit someone with an item and they don't flinch because of position lag...
If someone could write this better and stick it into the OP please do as I feel half of the thread will be about this...

I assumed that since Smash on the Wii had an online multiplayer mode this would have one too. I just seems like common sense to me.
4 players in for fun, 2 players in for glory (aka no items, fox only, final destination mode).I use an official lan adapter on my Wii U. Will there be 4 player online?

I think you're confusing two different points.
Super Smash Bros for Wii U has online play
The newly announced 8-player mode doesn't work online.
4 players in for fun, 2 players in for glory (aka no items, fox only, final destination mode).
Tournament brackets should be able to be 4 player too (would be very odd if they were not given how they seem to have a lot of settings).
- Local multiplayer only
- Select stages only (tbc)
- 5 for all stages
