Nice, and yeah the smell there was awful, specially during the day.

Honestly at the moment I am happier with film but I think I have just been in a rut with the digital stuff. Film keeps me busy with the processing and I love the variations in each different type.

Shot these on the Naples day of the voyage. Naples is an ugly grungy city with a serious graffiti problem. It is also under heavy renovation with scaffolding covering most of the decent look buildings. That super detailed glass ceiling shopping plaza has scaffold from the floor to beginning of the second story. Killed me I had to shoot around that crap. The Museum is a little rough but has loads of beautiful statues taken from Pompeii.

Just picked up a developed roll of expired Velvia, this is my first slide film roll. There's definitely a unique look to it, I can't quite put my finger on it, I'm still messing around with them in post-process. There was a blue cast on them, might be from expiration. Wish I could mess with them more, but it was pretty expensive to process (25 buckaroos).

Thanks man, got lucky with the dew on the grass picking up the highlights of the low morning sun.

These came out really well, velvia tends to have a blue'ish cast at the best of times so its not surprising that its more so expired. How did you find scanning it? I usually have a nightmare with slide film

For me the processing is a little much, I actually prefer the simpler shots you have on your page that have had less work done. Framing and subject matter is nice though.

They scanned it at the camera store :).

What kind of photography does your friend want to get into? Do they have certain photographers/artists/magazines that they like? Digital or film?
 
No particular style, just wants to learn and have a stand alone camera.

At the moment we are practicing with both my D7100 and old D60.

I really like these ones. The other Gundam one is good too but I feel like too much post-processing is ruining the shot. You can see the grain from the post processing in some of the shots (even the last one)

I really love the last shot though. I want to find something like that here in Toronto.

Yeah, you know what... I did the the post processing in Snapseed on my phone. Hehe. :)
Normally, I would've used Photoshop, but didn't have my laptop at hand at the time.

I only really noticed the grain later, as I was viewing them on a proper screen.
Kinda bummed about that.

Don't really feel like redoing them, but will definitely make sure I do it properly on my Macbook next time!

I know on android there is an Adobe Photoshop touch app which I'm certain would be available on IOS, I used that on a tablet while away with good results so can recommend that if you are looking for a portable editor.

My film holders don't include the rebates (frames) for 35mm. My 120 holders only include a very small portion. I unfortunately have no solution for scanning the frames without a change of exposure by the scanner. The very few times i tried scanning the entire frame with rebate I ended up adjusting the exposures in Lightroom to what I thought was satisfactory.
 
Came here to post but don't want to ruin this page, seriously great stuff.

OK maybe one, there is an Air Show at the airport 3 miles from my house. The Thunderbirds have been practicing twice a day all week.

I know you can achieve that using Epson scanning software. It involves taking the auto exposure settings to manual, which means you have to push a button to auto-expose.

Once you've done that you can put a box around the photo and push auto expose, once you've got that where you want it in terms of colour and curves you move the box to the negative edge and it won't re-expose.

I think I'm starting to get the hang of this "photography" thing, at least to the point where my pictures don't jump out at me with badness. I still have no idea how to photograph like, people and stuff.
 
This is the first time Ive ever even had a decent camera and I have no clue what I'm doing but just wanted to share a few recent shots. One of the solar eclipse from Friday night, through a filthy welding helmet lens. Dipped below low clouds on the horizon before a full eclipse. I was happy to be able to even get a shot of it but disappointed that it didnt turn out better. And a few of a coyote that has been hanging out at my work.
