If you trade in your XBox 360 to Microsoft Store, you get a 100$ coupon to any XBox One. Most reports seem to indicate you don't even need to give them the controller or it even needing to work. YMMV

How is 270k in the US not good (September). I swear XB1 could do 1m in October, but if PS4 did 4m you'd all say "Blah XB1 is bombing"

This is cost of entry on base console, which will be the most popular seller this holiday. MS will also advertise this price and flood tv with it. Parents can pick a $349 Xbone or a $399 PS4 and will go to the cheaper system. The problem is that increasing the price back up after the holidays is a tough sell since people know it was cheaper. Sony needs to go to $349. They can't afford not to at this point in the game.

Yup, I end up getting all systems eventually. I love picking up great games for $20 or less. That's what made me hold off on this gen so far, because I'm still picking up AAA's and overlooked gems on the cheap for last gen consoles.

It's interesting that ye olde "Microsoft has loadsamoney, Sony has none" meme is getting wheeled out. Again. At some point, the Xbox fanboys will have to admit that multiple price cuts within 12 months in Microsoft's main territory is not a good thing. In addition, Sony probably won't feel the need to respond, since both Sony and Microsoft knows that the PS4 is the more desirable console.
True but they need a sustained lead for several months to check up that's not looking likely. The difference is at near 1m iirc with destiny month already.

This will help sales a bit but not solve the overall problem. By removing kinect, and then charging MORE than $100 for it stand alone, they actually make their original package seem like a better value.
As someone who got a ps4 first and is now waiting for the best opportunity to get an xbone, seeing deals like this doesn't do much to convince me when I know most of the navigation was optimized for kinect and I would want that experience. So it adds over $100 to the total cost of the system

This is probably directed at me, but the reality is it's probably a bit more complicated than that. Sony as a company is starting to make headway, and the PS4's their shining star. I don't see that changing anytime soon, so I think they stay put until they want to price cut, not on Microsoft's terms.
Microsoft, on the other hand, has more maneuverability and an extreme desire to get their box into people's homes. If they wanted to cut out, they'd just Kin it.

Great move by Microsoft. Will not be surprised if they outsell ps4 in US by a good chunk this holiday. Parents are gonna love seeing a $350 price tag over the $400 for ps4 especially if the retailers convince them that it doesn't matter which console they pick.

This is a fantastic deal! $350 isn't bad at all I would suggest those who are looking to pick up an X1 jump on this deal. You can also wait until after Christmas and use some gift money if you get some.

I want one.....but I'm not sure it makes sense for me to get one already having a PS4 and PC....
$350 is the reasonable price for inferior hardware. I have a hard time believing the market will stomach $400 after two full months of this price to be honest. If the price does go up, I think it will be permanently bundled with a game until a full-time $350 SKU comes out.
Probably something like Forza 5 + XBO for $400 starting in January.
For me, personally, the system is getting closer to being worth a purchase, but not there yet. I think they need one more hard-hitting exclusive to build out their library.

If I'm Sony I keep the price until the weekend of Black Friday and slash it for black Friday sales. Maybe do the same again a few weeks later for Christmas sales. No need to be more drastic than that I thinkk.

Great move. Really good exclusive games on the system. Killer Instinct and D4 dont get enough credit among the Forzas and Halos.
A whole crew of my friends who were waiting till Halo came out to jump in are going to be very happy with the price cut.

Are you kidding me? Its a known fact PS is having the best business ever in their recent times. This guy was put on a spot of do or die and he has made the PS business shine this gen, dont take that away from him that man is a PS pioneer at heart so its no surprise PS he didnt forget where he came from.
Also the best part is that, MS are not here to make money in gaming, yes read that again, their pockets are endless. They dont die if xbox brand fails, They just want domination and cant achieve that now 3 gens in because actual gaming minde business are in the way do or dying.

I think this week is when Target's and Best Buy's week of Nov 11 sales will leak. Hopefully MCC is part of those specials. Otherwise I'm going with the CoD bundle.
Im an early adopter, and I dont see it like this. if anything I payed 50 dollars extra to have the Xbox one a Year Earlier.
By this logic, everyone should just buy consoles at the end of their respective gen so the dont get "fucked so hard".

I was just about to comment on that too. This is as bad as the whole 'PC master race' drive-by nonsense that happens elsewhere. People need to feel that their choice is best.
