Valkyria Chronicles for PC [Nov 11, £14/20/$20, has all DLC, 60fps/1080p+, $14 GMG]

How is it different (curious)?
The setting is more anime-ified (in a bad way), the maps are smaller (fucking PSP), and worst of all they came up with a terrible, grindy character progression system.

Basically, SEGA killed this franchise by moving it to PSP and shoehorning local multiplayer in order to try and capitalize on the Monster Hunter craze. They barely sold as much as the first one in Japan (at a lower sale price), and completely killed sales in the West.

after all these years I'm still waiting for the next gen vc as sega can't be assed to make a proper sequel. we only got handheld crappy vc2, still inferior vc3, and all the mobile and web games no one cared.

well I'm happy people who don't have a ps3 can play it soon, hopefully with some mechanical improvements along with the PC version.

More more, give me more, all of Japan pile the line, and continue feeding. Bayonetta 1, Vanquish, Lolipop Chainsaw, Final Fantasy XII International, just keep it going.

Sounds like I did the right thing when I skipped VC2.

I always felt that Valkyria Chronicles was the best fit for the PC demographic as a whole, but the least likely to get ported. Both Vanquish and Bayonetta were running on Platinum's proprietary engine which was shown running on PCs well before Rising and Korra were released.

Making the new characters into young lolis didn't help matters either.

The antagonist put me off completely of VC2.

2 is a different game than 1 and wasn't as good. 3 is good but not localized, fuck. :(
That is my point
I don't care about VC2, I just need VC3 D:

The third try to rectified all of that, but ironically, being the only game in the trilogy that have similar tone to the first game VC3 is the only that doesn't get localization.
I'm still bitter about it.

Everyone is missing the best news: new character in PC version of All Star Racing Transformed!
<------- FUCKIN' MAINED

Hey, is VC3 more like the original or the sequel? I know there's some mechanical adjustments, like unique actions for hero units, and the story's different enough, but I know little about the story progression or unit development.

Oh shit! It's really happening! Holy crap! This is amazing! VC is not dead! I kept my excitement to a minimum since it wasn't confirmed, but the gates are open now! Day one! Can't wait to replay this amazing game on PC and support this franchise. It deserves to live on.

I know nothing about this game, not a huge fan of jRPGs, but will buy out of principle. More games to PC the better.

There is a huge smile on my face and I'm screaming like a school girl inside...I'm really excited for this. I'm buying this along with the DLC, and hope this means more ports, including VC 2 and 3 (finally localized).

I heard its similar in tone to VC1 (which makes VC2 like a bastard, abominable child).

It's half-way-ish both story-wise and mechanically. perhaps leaning more towards VC1. It still features more obvious anime clichés and obviously they couldn't overcome PSP limitations no matter how hard they tried, but the unit limit is lifted somewhat, the game is pretty tough and the story is back to linear events and chapters without filler.

skies of arcadia pleaseeee :D

Out of all the multiplatform developers, Sega has the most diverse and extensive lineup of classic games that I would love to see get PC/console ports.

Bayonetta
Vanquish
Valkyria Chronicles
Jet Set Radio Future
Skies of Arkadia
Panzer Dragoon Orta
Otogi
Shenmue
SMT/Persona

SMT? I mean, it's Sega now. To some extent.

Well the third game was more like first one when it came to the setting. Saddly that didn't remove the limitations of PSP regarding of the maps. They recycled assets even more trough the game than in VC2. Didn't even localize the game because VC2 bombed so badly in the west and PSP was already practically dead... I would pay pretty much anything for VC4 on next gen (and PC) =/

Hopefully the DLC is included.

Will buy, day one. Just like Ground Zeroes/Phantom Pain.

By the way, considering when the announcement tweet came out that Clumsyorchid decided to post about it in the petition thread on Sega's board, I think it is somewhat confirmed that this is probably a response to the petition.

Well, if that wasn't already established yet. I mean, these kinds of things don't really happen at random, do they?

Yes I know, right move on SEGA's part. Hopefully it sells well so the other games follow. Remember folks, the point of the petition was to change their attitude on what could/should be released on PC.

Valkyria Chronicles is a stepping stone, hopefully, to more Japanese releases.

This is very important.

VC1 is a very good game and if it's supported well will open the doors to other SEGA releases on PC.

I know enough about this industry to be sure a lot of behind the scenes work went into giving this game a chance on PC. We can't let those people down.

Honestly, I liked some of the things they did in VC2- each squad member having their own side story was great, and class design/balance was much better overall (ie scouts weren't OP as shit like they were in VC1.)

The upgrades certainly don't outweigh the downgrades, though.
