Valkyria Chronicles for PC [Nov 11, £14/20/$20, has all DLC, 60fps/1080p+, $14 GMG]

This may be the last chance the franchise has, so I hope people pick this up.
I've already said in the PEGI thread that I don't really play on PC (it just isn't for me), but I'm seriously considering buying the game again for a platform I don't even play on, because there might be a ever so slight chance of the franchise being revived, in the last moments before it's believed-to-be-inevitable death.

And even if it isn't, I'd be pleased to give some money for the best SRPG series right after Fire Emblem. Valkyria Chronicles is one for those games that I hold very dear to me, and sadly a series that I discovered far to late (early last year), which meant that I had to buy the games used - I'll try to remedy that by buying the PC version.

I encourage everyone who's on the fence about buying this: Do it. You won't regret it. We've yet to see the price (we do, no?), but it probably won't be that high (considering the game's age), and even if it were 40$/€ or whatever, it'd still be worth it. Do it, people.

Well this is pretty random, but awesome nonetheless. One of my favorite game of last generation, I'm happy that more people will get to check it out now :)

OMG YES! I will double dip the **** out of it.

Haven't finished it on PS3 yet. Will gladly buy it on PC to restart :)
Do the petition work guys? If yes where is Shenmue HD?

Did not expect this at all. Game looked lovely but it really could have used some AA. Hopefully they package it with the DLC too.

One-woman-army Alicia will rise again.

well yea I agree, cuz Sega makes mostly shit.

Sega didn't make Bayo or Vanquish so I don't understand your point. Our statements are both correct.

It seems dumb to me to not count games they funded and own but even looking at their in-house content you are wrong. Even Sonic had an upswing last gen with Sonic Generations/Colors. Then there's Yakuza, Total War, Company of Heroes 2, Football Manager, Alien Isolation, Virtua Fighter 5, SEGA Rally Revo. Then digital re-releases/updates/ports for franchises like Nights, Jet Set Radio, Virtual-On, Daytona USA and SEGA Rally.

I´m always happy when a former (third party, which had no reason to be exclusive in the first place...like being funded by a first party etc.) console exclusive gets preserved for the ages on the PC.

Man, this opens the door for more HD port like Skies of Arcadia.

PCGaf, you know what to do.

Right, let me amend my earlier statement: the best game Sega made or published this last decade. (Sorry Alpha Protocol, you're second best!)

I always wanted to get this on the PS3 but just sort of forgot about it.

I'm glad its now coming out on PC. Will most likely buy Day 1.

More power to the PC is always welcome. Make it rain, Japanese devs!

I just hope the port is decent. There's no need to fully rework a relatively-old PS3 game, but at least SEGA could give us some resolution options and solid framerate. Yeah, I'm talking about FFXIII.

Man am I loving this trend of getting more JRPGs onto steam. Hopefully this version will have much better load times than the PS3 version. That was my only gripe with the game when I played it the first time.

This conversion always made lots of sense to me.
I hope (believe) it'll do well on pc. I'll be on it as soon as I can.

Hopefully it'll be on GoG

That's the minimum thing to ask for and the reason I double dip on pc, settings to play with. There's no reason to buy it again if it's basically just the console version.

It came totally out of nowhere, that's what makes it so awesome.

Of course, if you think about it, Sega porting the best game they made in the past decade which is also a perfect fit for PC to PC makes perfect sense. But that's just another reason not to expect it.

that RE4 UHD was also out of nowhere
fired up steam on day and saw my activity feed plastered with people doing shitty status update for a game that had a giant "4" icon

my heart nearly stopped

This is the thing that bugged me the most about Valkyria Chronicles:

So dumb.

It is anime. It is "good anime" if you know what I mean, but you still get things like a cute pig mascot thing that keeps popping up. There is a beach scene and a magical girl with giant breasts. You need to be able to deal with this.
The story is nice enough, but doesn't make a huge amount of sense. You need to just kind of roll with it all.

Must have missed the beach scene and magical girls in Grave of the Fireflies, which is weird, what with it being anime and all. Medium isnt genre.

The story held together well enough I thought. They used the not-Nazis pretty well.

Not sure why I didn't end up getting this on ps3. I did take part in our gaf attack on twitter though! Have always had an interest in it from the different take on strategy and obviously the art style, the amount of love on gaf as well :) excited to play this for the first time on PC. I bet if anything I'm in a position that other people envy.

Hopefully they keep the dual-audio option in the English version like PS3.

VC is one of my favorite games in PS3 and I am willing to play this again on PC.

any chance they will get some sorts of achievements? PS3 version lacked trophy so I wonder if they are going to bother with any achievements.

Public service announcement that Valkyria Chronicles also did get a decent anime adaptation that's totally worth checking out.

(If you speak Japanese, at least)

Glad you PC gamers can play this game. It is very fun. You may want a controller though since I have no clue how they will map the keys.
