Anyone have some tips for evangelizing this once the Halloween sale is over? It seems my friendslist is chock full of people more willing to plop $60 down on an unproven game or conversely $2.50 on the Five Nights at Freddy's fad than $18 on nigh-uncontested greatness.

Gotta remember that GMG hasn't released their keys yet. Some of those people may already own the game.

The unproven game had a price mistake, so you could get it for $5-15 depending on who you were getting it from.
Steam also doesn't show key activations on the activity feed (I don't understand why, it would still point people to the steam store page), even if it did keys aren't out, so anyone getting it from cheaper sources such as GMG or GetGamesGo won't show up unless they do a personalizes status.

I was actually talking about Advanced Warfare in this case, not the game that has a pre-release alpha build playable :V

Can't believe I missed the Evolve price mistake though, would have jumped on it right away.

Hah, well, I'm alright with whatever they'll throw at us at this point anyway. Gotta hand it to their PR team for getting on it right away to at least assure us that the Signal doesn't need to be at the ready for this port. Only thing I have real concerns about is the tactical map - While it's safe to assume that it'll use the mouse, I just pray that the cursor is unlocked and follows normal mouse behavior like other strategy games on PC rather than the center-lock of the PS3 version. As for other menus, I guess I'm fine if they're WASD/arrowkeys based, but I have to admit mouseless menus annoy the hell out of me - Which in event of that thank god VC isn't big on huge and scrolling lists for the most part.

On release day I'll send out an email via the petition. Also the game was number one on gmg, not sure if it still is or not.

Yeah, I agree with this. Pretty much the only thing that could still go wrong are the mouse controls. But even a 1:1 port wouldn't b too bad.

It dropped for awhile earlier today to spot No.4, but as of a few minutes ago it's back to No.1 on GMG.

Gotta say, GMG must be making some damn good business after sending out those Golden Joystick discount vouchers and having this put up for preorder with them a few days later.

I have to wonder, if GMG gives out those discount vouchers, do they eat them from their margins or the base price?
Because if the former, and you assume margins similar to steam, there's not much left after a 25% off voucher. Then again, it's also not particularly expensive to sell a key ;)

I would love to know this as well.

I believe they probably eat it, in this case SEGA likely eats that 10% off though as that's an official preorder savings available by default on GMG and on Steam of course. I don't know for sure but that's what makes the most sense to me...

This makes me want to get the DLC on the PS3 version. I think they're $3 a piece, $12 altogether? Are they all worth it?

Just realized this game comes out on Remembrance day. How fitting given the setting. Still trying to convince myself not to buy it......

I feel like I'm robbing someone when I stack discounts on GMG, but £10 feels like the right price.

It would be amazing if this sold well enough to get Sega to make a fourth installment. It would be a minor miracle to get a Wii U version (which would cause me to double dip no doubt.)

I imagine they would have to eat it. No way the pubs would agree to random vouchers outside of their own promotions. It's like you say, they are just selling a key, overhead is pretty cheap.

I almost wanted to purchase it on Steam just so I could go ahead and see it in my library. But having a voucher that gives more than 20% off changed my mind. I still feel unfulfilled having it sit in my GMG games list at the moment.

The flood gates are starting to open my friends. Pretty soon we'll have Personas, Disgaeas, and other delectable delights gracing our libraries.

I'm kind of mixed on the issue - on one hand a console exclusive was built for controller and I don't expect a port would ever get the time to properly revamp UX for a different control scheme. Eg. similar to how modern XCom is just a better experience with controller too.
On the flipside - VC tactical combat is a lot less dumbed down than the new XCom, so there's actually reasons alternate schemes could work better.

That said - even original 90s XCom worked out fine on controller and that was shoehorned to a classical mouse&kb interface, so I guess we'll be fine either way.

We already have tons of sega games on steam though.

So many total war and football manager games.

But do we have enough SEGA animu games? Do we? And do we have Panzer Dragoon Orta, Vanquish, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, all the other House of the Dead (which also had PC versions btw), Virtual-ON+Oratorio Tangram, Virtua Cop, Virtua Fighter and so on?

Noooo, we have a ton of (great) western-developed games published by SEGA but not enough japanese ones!

There had been quite a number of Sega PC ports previously which really need to be updated/rezzed to at least their original standards. I think I have a Sega Touring Car Championship PCCD somewhere but that certainly didn't really hold a candle compared to the original. A revamped one with online MP would be fantastic.

Also, I've put in the VC preorder through Steam, playing it Day One.

This is some of the best news! I'm so excited and happy about all of this. While I don't like Valkyria Chronicles as much as some other Japanese RPGs. It's so wonderful and one of the best things SEGA could put on the PC.

I'm so happy that more Japanese RPGs are coming to Steam, and I bought it right away. This is so wonderful.
This is such good news for Japanese RPGs. And one of my favourite SEGA things. When the SEGA PC petition started happening, this was one of the ideas I liked the most.

Between this and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and lots of other nice things, I'm so happy right now.

Even though I own the PS3 version, I bought this to support Sega porting more games over to PC
, and also to play it in 1080p and creamy goodness AA/AF/BBQ *faints*

so the PC version of VC includes all the DLC from the PS3 version

imagine if vf5 comes to pc and all the customize stuff is included. that would be so good.

They eat the cost from their margins. It's one of the reasons That Amazon diminished the PC side of their business. The profits were too small in order to compete with Valve.

Selvaria DLC is totally worth it, if only for the chance to play as THE scout in some pretty interesting map remixes (Ghirlandaio circa the initial Imperial invasion). Also, Ruhm.

It'll probably have cards if they're doing Steam achievements. There's been a few games where for some reason cards are not listed on the store page until launch-day.

See, I thought cards were supposed to make people excited so they would pre-order. Is there a technical reason for every bullet except cards to appear?

Oh, it's time to quit my Halloween mask.
