Xenoblade X (Cross) releasing in 2015 (Xenoblade Chronicles X in the US)

oh ok i understand. But do they look as bad as say a ps1 or ps2 game on a HD TV?

It'll depend on the game. Textures in Xenoblade tend to be low resolution so it's pretty noticable on an HD set. Metroid Prime, a gamecube game and it's iteration in the Prime Trilogy looks great. Testing out Xenoblade, for my HD set, it looked a lot cleaner on the WiiU than it did on the Wii.

Thanks bud for confirming that. You just sold a wii u haha.

Yeah....no

Why else would they put the main character from a game they weren't even going to release abroad in their tentpole holiday game? They want the Xenoblade series to be a larger pillar.

As of right now, XC 3DS is the only first party Nintendo game announced exclusively for New 3DS. They're building the series up.

Yeah If you see my edit the Wii U sends a 1080p signal (or whatever resolution you have your Wii U set to) to the television even in Wii U mode. It is clearer than regular Wii over composite.

Yep i saw that too thanks man for confirming that. Thanks all for the helpful insight. I am now definitely getting a wii u.

I don't remember...do they announce release dates in Nintendo Directs? If so it would be nice if they announce X's release date (along with a new trailer.)

I am now seriously considering buying a Wii U. Just for this game. But I'm hesitating about the gamepad. How do the buttons and thumbsticks feel, compared to those of a DS4, for example?

Feels good to me, can get heavy at times, but I really do think the game will support a bunch of controllers like Wiimote, Classic and Pro. No announcements yet, but I'm hoping anyway.

Ever played a SNES? It's like that just wider. Sticks are like the DS3 and 360 pad had a baby (only briefly held a DS4 so I can't really remember how it felt). You really shouldn't worry. It looks weird at first but it becomes second nature quite quickly. And you can always get a Pro Controller since lots of games support that.

The Pro Controller is the only way I would play Bayonetta, but I wish the buttons and right stick were reversed.

Wait... So is she involved in XCX? I haven't been following the game very closely since it was announced.

As already said, there's no proof yet, but I seem to remember reading something at one point about her working with Takahashi on the story. No proof, but it would be awesome if she was!

Why are you confused? All it means is that Wii U is not a magic box. Wii was an SD console. The games were SD, thus they still are SD when played on a Wii U. If anything they look a bit better because you're (likely) using an HDMI cable on Wii U.
WiiU BC has upscaling, it does make it look better just in general, it wont make a SD game look HD or anything tho

I just finished Bayonetta on normal mode using it and I honestly didn't feel any notable differences between using the gamepad to play a hardcore action game than any other pad, and I'm close to the end of Bayonetta 2-- again no problems at all, and I am by no means a gaming badass. I try to be but it doesn't work out all the time. But yeah. The gamepad is fine. I don't get where any of the complaints come from. It isn't that heavy and it naturally rests in your lap. But it's also fine if you want to hold it "up" as well, but I typically play with controllers resting on my lap so it's no different.

With the PS4 controller, I'm not a fan of the sticks. They're too slippery and have little grip in my experience. It feels nice overall but I find myself having to constantly readjust my thumbs on the sticks. The Xbox One controller is great and definitely has better sticks, so while I have no real problems there, a lot of people hate the bumpers, and so I would still find myself giving the edge to the gamepad. Everything about it just works, for me anyway. The sticks are super nice and have perfect grip.

But yeah I think if I can get through both Bayonetta games (and not even on the easy modes) on the gamepad, it's fine for just about anything. I was admittedly concerned about that way before I actually used the gamepad, but after playing Mario and some other stuff I honestly forgot about the actual size of the thing and even the fact that there's a screen on it.

Personally I love the mirrored top sticks.

I prefer them as well - even the button configuration feels more natural to me now that I've been using the Wii U controller for most things on PC as well. But I'm not sure if that's more to do with Stockholm syndrome or the controller's design itself...

And in cases where the upscaling isn't helping that much, there's always the option to mirror it on the gamepad. 95% of my Xenoblade playthrough was through off-tv; it really helps with obscuring the rougher parts of the game's visuals.

As an owner of both a Wii U and PS4, I'll have to say that the Wii U gamepad feels great. It is quite obviously heavier, but not to any significance that has bothered either me or my girlfriend.

Buttons? DS4's are a bit better. The gamepad's buttons are more convex, and I don't like that. Quality-wise they're both fine.

Thumbsticks? Better on the gamepad. It's subjective, but I love that the sticks are placed where my thumbs naturally rest. The low-symmetrical design of the DS4 forces me to put some outward tension on my wrists to get my thumb onto either stick. Finally, the texture of the sticks is much better on the gamepad. The DS4 feels slippery in comparison.

Finally: comfort. The gamepad is unique in that it is wide, which forces my hands apart and results in less tension on my shoulders. Because of its size, there's plenty of grip. I prefer it to a normal controller any day of the week.

Whoa, one of the areas shown off in the Direct was a modern-looking suburbia. 0.o

They showed off a lot more of Neo Los Angeles in this trailer. Wasn't somebody complaining that it previously looked like a construction site? This made it look a lot more like a full city with surrounding suburbs.

"Colony 6 rebuild" campaing is pretty awesome. Way more interesting than the story trailer in the past E3, also seems that New Los Angeles will be big enough to explore or have secrets.

I'm just happy to see it getting mentioned again. Just something to bear with the wait.

Looks to be a 2H 2015 game at least. Better delayed and get polished than cut to make it to deadline.

I'm quite underwhelmed based on the trailer shown. The combat in specific shown looks really blah and not what I was expecting based on the really early trailers shown for the game and they showed no mech stuff? I noticed quite a few FPS drops as well in that trailer, but maybe that was on my PC? Why they would show footage of FPS drops in a trailer is beyond me...

As I should have expected it looks like the same shit as the Wii Xenoblade, combat wise. I don't know why I thought differently.

Targeting 2015, lol. I'm going to just say its probably going to get delayed.
Targeting 2015 is scary, but daaaaamn it looks so good! Someone PLEASE get a gif of the protagonist jumping in people's yards!
Feels so much like a 2016 game with the way Iwata phrased things. :/

I'm fearing the same thing. I can't believe that it's almost plausible for FFXV to come out before this...

It's nice to see mundane aspects alongside the high-concept sci-fi. With the removal of fall damage, I hope there's at least one opportunity to land in someone's pool from jumping off one of Neo LA's skyscrapers.

Do you folks like the new logo?

It matches a little better than the red X did. It's snazzy.

Going with a whole blue motif too

Did we know this wasn't set in a totally alternate world? I'm so confused.

Neo Los Angeles?

All previous Xeno games were totally set elsewhere, right?

Aw man i'm going to explore every nook and cranny in this world.

Loved how more lively new LA looked compared to previous footage.
