Did we know this wasn't set in a totally alternate world? I'm so confused.

Neo Los Angeles?

All previous Xeno games were totally set elsewhere, right?

In terms of being alternate realities, Xenogears and Xenosaga were both set in the far future of our universe, and Xenoblade was set in
a universe created from the destruction of ours.

As someone else already said, the Xenosaga series was set in our universe as well. But this is clearly on another planet with new wildlife and different types of races.

And Xenoblade (big spoilers)
was technically also set in our universe.

Xenosaga was set in our universe 3 or 4000 years later

Ah. Thanks.

But this is the first time we see Neo Los Angeles, right?

That's one sexy mech.

The way they are all on that cliff looking out reminds me of a similar concept art for Xenoblade in which the characters were on a cliff looking out.

Wait, so for the Japanese Direct it was listed as "Spring 2015", and for all the other Directs it was listed as "Targeting 2015"? Well, at least that lets me know the game will be finished within the next few months and lucky Japanese players will get to play it (and give impressions), rather than having indefinite delays for development.

I really liked that Direct footage, brief as it was, especially the footage of the shopping / suburban sections of Neo Los Angeles (I'm assuming) - I liked the Colonies in Xenoblade, don't get me wrong, but this made it seem like Neo-LA will have a bit more character / variety to it.

So... is it still a 4 person party?

Because all they showed in that clip was a party of 3.

If it is 3 again, I shall pass on this.

3 person parties suck.

visually not impressive at all. But the World looks huge...I want to walk around that city.

The Mechs look sexy as hell, and the monster design is great

This Game is the main Reason for my Wii U Purchase this christmas

The Era of JRPG is coming back guys...Persona 5, Kingdom Hearts 3, Final Fantasy XV, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Dragon Quest heroes

Character movement is pretty jarring. Wonky run animations and the fact you jump like 12 feet into the air looks weird.

Still, hype, hope it hits next year.

Also, new logo looks better.

Ah. Thanks.

Likes variety.
You'll hate FFXV 4-people circle jerk party more than Xenoblade Chronicles X then.

For the Wii U? It is impressive, just like the original was impressive for the Wii.

I reckon I don't think FFXV looks all that much better, engine wise. It might actually have more pop up from what we've seen on recent videos.

Of course what will make or break it is artistic direction, but I think most of us know what to expect.

Lmfao... are you serious? Wow.... just... wow...

Anyways, I'm rather curious if you can go inside any of the buildings within that city.

Also, I'd like to know if there are other different types of scenery besides the main forest area and brief desert area we've seen so far. Obviously there was the giant robot but would have been nice to see other, more unique environments.

I've had zero emotional investment in FF since 9.

Which was epically great, in-between the loading screens.

If Square ever puts out an HD Remaster of FF9, and has the basic sense to eliminate the load times, I'll be content to just go ahead and let them keep cutting themselves until one of their current Emo waif heroes actually musters the strength necessary to hit a semi-vital artery, and bleed the company out.

If i remember correclty, the last footage looked better. Therefore i was dissapointed a litte bit, but the huge World is compensating my dissapointment and turns it into excitment.

Nah...FFXV looks way better. Its running on the luminous Engine

But i dont want to compare those games anymore...The last thread turned into chaos

This is only about Xenoblade...And this game is gonna be frigging Huge !

I don't understand how the f*** Square pre-rendered RPG's from that era haven't had assets re-rendered in HD and got re-released tbh.

I mean, it's taking the files and ordering to render again, this time in HD, retool the game for it and it's a wrap. They sure haven't been shy in regards to simply make them available on virtual stores, might as well do it right.

Welcome to any game that came out before the ps360 era, bet everything before then just tore at you since loading times were a common thing. You're not going to see an hd remaster of the game since it's the least of their concerns next to porting everything else, nor are they taking out the loading screens when that would mean doing more than just upping the textures.

Some people say it did, fact is we are comparing onions to potatos, they haven't been showing the same things over and over again.

Perhaps we'll never know. Regardless, said dip in quality wasn't noticeable for me as a fact and I do look for those things.

I agree to disagree, it looks better as it's clearly on a more powerful machine, has more complex stuff going on too...

But it doesn't impress me in the slightest, lots of sore points going on too and pop up actually felt worse. For all that engine is supposed to be, I think it's not so good. These guys might have the better tech if you ask me! (they don't have the more powerful console to work with, that's for sure)

This actually does impress me time and time again considering it is on hardware we'll forever be discussing just how much surpasses X360/PS3.

I wonder if the eventual Shulk Amiibo will work with this game. It'd give the Shulk cameo in the first trailer some meaning.

They would if they could - the vast majority of those assets are long gone. The Kingdom Hearts remasters had to be worked on with retail copies as a base; it's incredibly unlikely that any assets from their 90s titles have survived.

Two things, though:

#1: I have been playing console RPGs since Dragon Warrior, on the NES, and that's simply not true.

#2: It would not be difficult at all to speed up the transitions in a remake. All it would require would be Squeenix giving at least half of a damn.

Playable Shulk if you use his Amiibo.

Make it happen, Nintendo & Monolith.

They already have his voice actor on board, at least in Japanese. Giving you his outfit and Monado to go along with it would be a nice bonus for anyone that actually liked him.

Can you elaborate further?

They sure as hell didn't lose the source code and it didn't have pre-rendered scenarios going on. Max they lost if higher res texture assets if they ever had them. Assets which would never be suitable for the most part 720/1080p now.

Seems like they were playing the victim or something.

Why the fuck do you find the need to bring up FFXV to defend Xenoblade? Laconic didn't even mention FFXV, yet you go out of your way to bash the former to make the latter look good.

He didn't, I did. And I don't have a problem with that.

Comparisons are meant to be drawn once they went into the open-world setting too. If this doesn't look good, then I have to say this impresses me more on the Wii U than FFXV does on the PS4.

But I want to bail from having to discuss this as much as anyone else here, it's my opinion based on things I've seen from two work in progress games... I don't want to write an essay about it.

EDIT: As for the circle jerk comment, I just thought it was funny because variety can come in numbers (4 party members, as suggested) or... actually having variety in your party. By the looks of it you could have 10 dudes on your party in FFXV and it still wouldn't feel all that varied on that front, not with them being all males and wearing the same clothes.

But I do agree I came out of that post looking like I have a fixation with FFXV. The judge is still out on that one.

Dislikes Nuke/Tank/Heal, split the difference.

Or, better:

Likes variety.
Xenoblade with its three character party already did away with standard nuke/tank/heal concept later on, once you got more party members. Even running with three nukes was perfectly viable thanks to the evade tank concept and the fact that even support characters could wear heavy armor. And X apparently doesn't even have dedicated healers in the first place.
