The pay-off for this slow burning season better be amazing, because this was another disappointing episode for the heroes.
The episode hadgreat lines, great pacing, Varrick was awesome, and Kuvira too, but I'm tired of Korra still being week and being pushed around. That duel between Korra and Kuvira was frustrating, to say the least. When she finally entered the Avatar State, I was glad, but then Nega-Korra returned. I suspected she wasn't gone completely, and the metal pieces arch was still only part of her recovery, but it came at an inconvenient moment for the season. IT needs to pick up NOW.
Also, as suspected, Suying was duped of course. Korra, however as much low her diplomatic skills are, was right in that Su screwed Zaofu herself.
Look, I get it. Korra was being pushed around both physically and verbally by both Kuvira and Opal, representing just how lost Korra is still is, both as a person and the Avatar. But these last three or four episodes have basically shown a static Korra, that only slightly recuperates. And I know that's what the writers want, to stretch Korra's recovery as much as possible in order for it to "look real", but the problem is (besides the lack of bending fights) that very little is being sowed within Korra to justify four episodes of her being pushed around or just in a constant state of "blah."
The entire Swamp archis in danger of being meaningless and just an excuse to throw in Toph if Korra's final recovery happens outside of it. Everything could come together great at the end, but the more they stretch this out, the less that becomes possible, but I kind-of see where this is going.
On the other hand, the humor in this episode, despite my rant, was the best of Book 4 so far.Between Verrick and Baatar Jr.'s dynamic, Meelo's paintings and even a great cameo by Huan, they nailed a lot of the old ATLA humor. Verrick is so far one of the highlights of Book 4.

I pretty much agree with this. The rest of the season can't have any more sitting around and nothing happening. This episode was a step in the right direction.
Korra fucking up once again.
This episode was kind of slow, even with the fight between Korra and Kuvira. The pacing felt off to me. It feels like nothing significant is happening this season other than Kuvira going after Zaofu and they're milking that.
The good thing is that Kuvira finally took the city and now we get some more progress in the story.
Because of my desire toI was also disappointed at the beginning, but I took a look at the episode again and actually liked it even more.also Korra recuperate and kick some ass,
suddenlyNaga-Korrawas not what expected and was a pretty great moment.coming back on Kuvira's FACEWhen we saw that moment in the trailer, I knew that Korra wouldn't win, but was intrigued about how she would lose, or under what circumstances.
I was getting frustratedby her weakness at the beginning, but I'm glad getting the metal pieces out of Korra wasn't the final solution to Korra's hallucinations and at the end of her battle with Kuvira, I was actually even relieved that we got Naga-Korra back. Korra finding a real, psychological solution to the hallucinations is something I'm looking forward to and a reason Korra Alone was such a great episode.

Oh my Jesus Christ I want to Varrick myself. I don't even. . . . . . .
Even the fighting was bad.
Decent episode but not without its issues.
Surprise surprise Suyin went straight into a trap and gave the validation Kuvira needed.Korra/Kuvira fight went as one would expect. Getting pretty tired of seeing Korra getting beaten over and over again. Still it was a decent fight even if it was sorely lacking those Kuvira Drums i've come to love.Loved just how smug and confident Kuvira was during the duel. All those little smirks and giggles from her throughout the fight were great.Baatar Jr continues to be a big dick. Though he did give us this interesting face.
Quite enjoyed the Varrick and Bolin part of the episode. Varrick may be crazy but he gets results. Should be fun seeing them try and escape the Earth Kingdom together.
Lol at the Meelo painting again.
Still looking forward to all of those reunions once Korra gets back to Republic City in the next episode.
I loved her smugness as well. I am going to love it even more when Korra wipes it off her face in the finale.
Episode 6 'Battle Of Zaofu' is up on Nick now! http://www.nick.com/videos/clip/the-legend-of-korra-219-full-episode-6k3k.html

Looks like Korra still has some hangovers in regards to her PTSD. I'm glad they did that, as I was worried removing the metal would be the end of that little bit of character development.
I also like that Varrick screwed over Bataar Jr. with the spirit vine bomb.
Plus that's three episodes in a row without Mako now, right? Ah, it's so good.
Good episode. And as I said earlier, it "completes" Episode 5, so to speak, and further strengthens my view that they should've doubled up all the episodes this season, since they've paired so well together thusfar.
