WWE 2K15 First Footage and Gameplay changes

Did you guys know that the momentum and adrenaline meters that are in 2K15 that were touted as being new things were in 2K13, but were set off by default?
The new stamina system (which is only in the PS4/XBO versions) has three tiers, and certain attacks have "tired" animations if you're in the third tier. Crawling to the ropes and staying down after hitting a finisher are all tied to the new stamina system, too. None of that stuff is in '13. You're thinking of the old adrenaline system which is still present in the PS3/360 versions of 2K15.

It's one specifically for the last gene. It's been mentioned in reviews as well. Some dick head saying I'm making shit up doesn't mean I am.

Shit, 2K not showing anything about the PS4/XBO versions has made me start reconsidering my Hulkamania Edition preorder.

I could easily sell it if it turns out to be shit.

Yeah mashing buttons was superior to the damn sliding bar mini game they have for pins now in every way. Also the horrible reversal system that seems to have no rhyme or reason to it. You can't learn the timing of reversals because they change and sometimesometimes you get prompts and sometimes you don't.

I also hate that stupid timed meter to kick out of pins. Jesus Christ, it's the worst. Kicking out of a pin should always be done by button mashing, and mostly be determined by your health/stamina/whatever compared to your opponent's health/stamina/whatever.

You know what noone ever said they wanted more of? Fucking minigames to do shit in a wrestling game. Yet, Yukes decided to double down and add more now with the fucking lockup mini game where you have to move the analog sticks to certain positions.

It's just so easy not to buy the game. Siiigh.

I really hate to admit this but here goes. I am a 31 year old married guy with a full time job, but still tries to game as much as he can.

A little pretext, this is my first wrestling game since AKI/N64 days. I am on new game +4 in Dark Souls. I am also playing WWE2K14 and stuck on Ricky Steamboat vs. Macho Man (30 years of Wrestlemania). I have every difficulty turned off or to low and I can not win for the life of me.

I instantly regret buying the game and supposedly this years version is worse. They are really dragging the brand through the mud.

Lol, I got stuck at the same part, could not beat Macho Man or fulfill all the moment requirements. I just gave up.

Also I know it's last gen but good lawd at this character model, his hair looks worse than a CAW's:

The team that made the Aki wrestling gamesis no longer there, it's not going to happen, ever. Aki games would've gone to shit too after THQ started to be more hands on with the production.

Wish we could drop this mo-cap shit for moves it's never going to be better than "hand drawn" move animations which could be made to look as vicious they wanted. But hey, Bryan Williams...

Honestly, adding features or content to a PS1 or N64 game was way easier than it is for current consoles. The earliest Yuke's Smackdown games were pretty up-to-date with the rosters of the time when they launched. Smackdown 2 was less out-of-date than 2k15, IIRC.

Yeah, back then building models a matter of days opposed to today where it apparently takes weeks even with still having PS2 era hair.

1997 - WCW vs. nWo: World Tour
1998 - WCW/nWo Revenge
1999 - WWF WrestleMania 2000
2000 - WWF No Mercy

AKI seemed to do ok adding features on a yearly basis. If people stopped buying them, wwe would shop out the franchise elsewhere, and we might actually get a decent game

Aki games never got close to the number of options the Yuke's games did in just its second iteration and it's not WWE who chooses the developer. That's entirely on the publisher.

Don't forget VPW and VPW2, both of which had features that never made it to the US games.

WCW vs The World was based on VPW but it was kind of shit.

Hahaha. Yukes always does this.

Again, those choices are up to their employers aka 2K and formerly THQ, the design choices complete fall on their end and have been pretty much since Smackdown vs Raw and increasingly so since. I do hope 2K does drop Yuke's though because the well with Yuke's has pretty much run dry and I'm quite sure a lot of the people who worked on the series during its best days are also no longer there.

How dare you guys besmirch theclosetfan! Clearly Yukes and 2k have reached a new pinnacle of gaming with 2k15 after delivering year after year with the most realistic simulation of WWE sports entertainment. They painstakingly work around the clock and ignore their families, to deliver to you, the WWE universe, a masterpiece year after year. If one game this year is worth your hard earned money it's WWE 2k15, available now on PS3 and Xbox 360, and coming November 18th for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One, the all in one entertainment system.

WCW vs The World was kind of shit, but World Tour was dope, even if it was obviously a lot less refined than the rest of the AKI games. I don't think there were any differences in World Tour and VPW1 besides the names of non-WCW wrestlers being changed for the US/Euro version.

The team that made the Aki wrestling games is no longer there, it's not going to happen, ever.

I hate to quote myself from earlier today but...

2010 - Kurohyō: Ryū ga Gotoku Shinshō (PlayStation Portable)
2012 - Kurohyō 2: Ryū ga Gotoku Ashura Hen (PlayStation Portable)

Both of these used a modified "AKI Engine" for the combat. (I beat them both)

Unless they fired all those guys in the past 2 years, I would imagine they're still there, it's a pretty small company.

Theclosetfan is just trying to feed his kids man. Do you think he might grace us with another entrance video anytime soon since the game comes out in a week and a half?

The thing about WWE games is we're nowhere near the pinnacle of what could be possible.
As good as No Mercy and Shut Your Mouth were, they still had things that could've been better.

If I'm a developer, I want the opportunity to make that game.

That being said due to the lack of competition and probably high licensing fees, I don't imagine it'll ever get made.

You can just tell that Yukes doesn't have any passion about the product they are making with what they put out year after year. Actual fans of wrestling would not allow a product like that to come out year after year.

So what are the odds that they won't sent out review copies for this game? Have they sent ones out for the last gen version?

Well, it's the end of the week and no gameplay footage this week that I can remember other than that horrible Reigns vs Orton footage from Gamespot during the interview with Reigns. Don't the entrance trailers usually come out Fridays? Maybe they will allow us peasants to see 2 or 3 more entrances.

Between this and UFC, I get the impression that developers don't understand that more people use CAWs to fill out the roster with real guys rather than fantasy book themselves into games. Week one the biggest downloads will be people like Kurt Angle, you really going to want to run through NXT with him, with Bill DeMott teaching him how to wrestle?

Be interesting to see if there's any improvements to the gimmick matches. I remember we had to put up with the stupid canned HIAC animations from the PS1 for so long after the switch to PS2.

Wait, you can't use CAW's without running through a tutorial?!

Attributes appear tied to the Career mode from what DoctorWho said. Can't watch the video for another couple of hours, but hopefully career and other modes attributes are separate. Although tying that to VC would be very 2k, so I'm not going to be shocked if you do have to build them up there or buy attribute points.

Jesus fuck. Glad my preorder's gone.

I recall some previous WWE games forcing you to go through some sort of mode to unlock all the attributes. That seems a little ridiculous.

I kind of hope there is a way to just unlock that shit for everyone else.

The SvR games that had a career mode used to have separate stats for career and exhibiton. For career, everyone started out at 35 or so overall stats. In SvR 2007, that meant you pretty much always were booked in the feud where Big Show squashed you and Chavo Guerrero at the same time, which is actually accurate.

I'm pretty sure I read that Career mode CAWs and regular CAWs are completely separate.

You don't even have all the options available at first with your Career mode one, you have to make some generic trunks guy and then you can add more flair to him as you gain experience and boost his attributes.

If this is the case, I'm OK with that. And if it is the case, godammit 2k, just confirm details in a timely manner so we don't have to speculate on all your bullshit?

Ive been going back and forth on whether or not I want to purchase this game, and I realized that my experience in this game has largely hinged on Create-an-Arena being present.

Being able to download custom arenas has been huge for me because I primarily play universe mode. Being able to create cool new pay per views and not being bored because there was always a new custom arena to house them in, or creating a new show and having an awesome place to house it in, was such an amazing experience on last gen.

People were able to come up with amazing indoor and outdoor arenas, in addition to great classic arenas like "in your house, sunday night heat" and more.

So I've to come to the conclusion that I probably wouldn't get this game or invest much time into it if I constantly had to play in the same old generic WWE Ppv arenas that come with the game.

So I hope its in, or else I may have to skip this series for another year.

I think no Create an Arena will probably be my biggest disappointment on Next Gen if that's the case.

Im half expecting it to not be there, and half expecting it to be in but extremely gimped and we'd only have like 10 slots to use.

There won't be any Create-An-Arena slots. Created Arenas will take up five of your Create-A-Wrestler spots because they're so HD. Extra Creation Slots in the Cloud will be available for DLC.

Hahaha. Honestly though, that would piss me off if there's a different limit of slots. Hell, even if they did take up 5 wrestler slots, just give me a set of overall slots to let me fucking use how the hell I want.

Completely agree, on last gen I constantly had to delete arenas when I wanted to download a new one. If these things are being saved to the hard drive, why is there a in game limit?
