WWE 2K15 First Footage and Gameplay changes

I just...

Blegh.

They've done an absolutely terrible job of showing us anything. You'd think with a delay, there'd be at least new media previews from sites or something. Anything.

Well demos and previews take away from dev time. Whether this game is good or not it sounds like it's coming in hot, even if it's gone gold, they are working on the day one patch. Sometimes games, especially technical aspects of them, come together in the final days of development. It sounds like that is what's happening here and they don't want anyone to see it until the patch goes live. It's a bad practise, and I don't mean to defend Yukes or say the game is going to be good but this why it seems they're not showing anything.

Dude, Yukes doesn't fix glitches after a game is gold. Any day 1 patch will just be for dlc.

Theclosetfan, people keep buying the games because they are the only wrestling games on the market. If they want to play anything up to date, they are stuck with sub par Yukes games. It isn't a vote of confidence in them, but more to the monopoly they have on wrestling games due to WWE having a monopoly on wrestling. You are aware of this and to give the, "well they could just not buy it" reasoning is dog shit.

I was talking about annual sports games. It's a much larger issue then just WWE and Yuke's...every publisher pushes out half-assed roster updates on old systems to make some extra money. FIFA came out on PS2 last year! Just adding some perspective in this thread to people who think this is unique to wrestling games.

But to your other point, you seem to believe that there are other wrestling companies and/or developers with the audience and capital to actually make a push for this market. TNA tried and failed and Midway closed. WWE All-Stars used their scraps and was a mediocre seller and, at best, a cult hit (I loved it.) That Lucha Libre game was a bomb. Even Fire Pro Wrestling Returns didn't sell well in 2007.

I would love to see AKI rise from the ashes and make a wrestling game, but I don't think it's possible anymore. That staff is gone. Years ago I was defending the TNA game because I thought the engine had loads of potential, but everyone shit all over it because it lacked all the features of a decade of Smackdown.

If Yuke's and Visual Concepts working together make a sales bomb, I think it's more far more likely that 2K will just resort to apps like WWE Supercard to make money off the license. Wrestling just isn't as popular as it was 15 years ago. I don't have any faith in some upstart developer coming along and being the new AKI. No one would give them a chance.

Their patches are horrible. It took them months to fix issues for the Undisputed franchise. I never experienced such horrible effort post-launch.

Their final game they even got into legal shit with THQ over it and left Undisputed 3 a mess until THQ went under.

Fixed - The sound effect is missing when a Superstar performs Curt Henning (n.W.o) signature " Rolling Neck Snap".
Interesting: this is the move that used to do damage to the user instead of the target. I wonder if the moves that don't make any sound in 2k15 have the same problem. Strobogo complained about a body slam injuring him instead of the guy he was slamming.

AKI still exist as Syn Sophia, right?

Def Jam Vendetta was all sorts of awesome.

Why is a decent, modern WWE game so hard to realize?!

I assume it's because WWE couldn't actually give a shit about the quality of their games as long as they are churned out yearly and idiots lap them up.

I'm curious to know if critics will be getting review code before the 18th.

Where is the one guy in here that was a reviewer? He said they refused to give him a review copy for last gen, but maybe he can chime in? I want a good wrestling game to play. Maybe I should just get a copy of Firepro for PS3?

Apparently Yukes made a Japanese PS2 exclusive Online Pro Wrestling.

The game introduced a more traditional grappling system while retaining the series’ fast gameplay. This new grappling system also includes body damage meters, individual character scales consisting of stats such as strength, endurance and speed, and submission meters for both the person applying the move and the person breaking out of the move.

It was based as an online game where people could fight each other online in virtual tournaments, single matches, and tag matches.

Can't really find anything about it online. Sounds like it was probably the basis for the upgrades to the engine once the SvR renaming happened. Or maybe a mix of Smackdown and proto DoR.

Given their recent games I'd be surprised if any wrestling devs were left in the company sadly.

Some fans have actually emailed them over the years and asked them if they were working on any new wrestling games. They said no, but they want to. It's just that no one has asked them. Part of the problem is that there really aren't any Japanese wrestling games being made anymore. So it greatly reduces the chances of them getting a shot at it.

2010 - Kurohyō: Ryū ga Gotoku Shinshō (PlayStation Portable)
2012 - Kurohyō 2: Ryū ga Gotoku Ashura Hen (PlayStation Portable)

Both of these used a modified "AKI Engine" for the combat. (I beat them both)

Unless they fired all those guys in the past 2 years, I would imagine they're still there, it's a pretty small company.

Surprised there's been no new Kinnikuman game. I guess the last few must have sold badly.

Chiming in. No update on when we are going to receive our copy (we didn't get Civ:BE until release). As soon as I know, I will let you guys know, but some of my queries have gone unanswered regarding the game.

As for the last-gen version, I gave it a generous 3/10. It is disgusting how 2K15 is a complete downgrade from 2K14. Link here and yes, that last image is from my gameplay.

If they use the same BS minigames for the Royal Rumble, I am going to flip a table Wyatt style.

The mini games are the worst. The pin mini game is a criminal act against gamers who buy the game.

This too. I would rather keep the old way of mashing buttons.

edit: Added link to the last-gen review in my above post.

Yeah mashing buttons was superior to the damn sliding bar mini game they have for pins now in every way. Also the horrible reversal system that seems to have no rhyme or reason to it. You can't learn the timing of reversals because they change and sometimesometimes you get prompts and sometimes you don't.

Which explains it for the last gen version which has been released last week. For current gen we don't know because 2k aren't showing it to anyone for whatever MYSTERIOUS reason

It is bizarre how that game disappeared from the publics eye after Gamescom. Well to be frank it never was visible in the first place deite being playboe there for the public. From what I understand the U.S. event was the same stuff I saw in Cologne.

I really hate to admit this but here goes. I am a 31 year old married guy with a full time job, but still tries to game as much as he can.

A little pretext, this is my first wrestling game since AKI/N64 days. I am on new game +4 in Dark Souls. I am also playing WWE2K14 and stuck on Ricky Steamboat vs. Macho Man (30 years of Wrestlemania). I have every difficulty turned off or to low and I can not win for the life of me.

I instantly regret buying the game and supposedly this years version is worse. They are really dragging the brand through the mud.

Who got NXT mode is horrible in that regard this year. They expect you to do all these random objectives during the match and they've made Bray Wyatt the damn Undertaker in Corey Graves matches. I hit the guy with 6 drop kicks in a row when he was in red and immediately got up after each. He kicks out of finishers, and he got 2 finishers just because.

shame he didn't do that against cena

Did you guys know that the momentum and adrenaline meters that are in 2K15 that were touted as being new things were in 2K13, but were set off by default?

1997 - WCW vs. nWo: World Tour
1998 - WCW/nWo Revenge
1999 - WWF WrestleMania 2000
2000 - WWF No Mercy

AKI seemed to do ok adding features on a yearly basis. If people stopped buying them, wwe would shop out the franchise elsewhere, and we might actually get a decent game

Don't forget VPW and VPW2, both of which had features that never made it to the US games.

Seriously, the utter disdain that the WWE has consistently illustrated for their fanbase since, like, forever, is the biggest reason for the total lack of quality in their video games. I know Yukes are useless, but if the WWE actually gave a shit, Syn Sophia would still be in charge. Yukes is apparently a cheap, easy option. I mean, who really gives a shit, right? Cena wins lol, $9.99, blah blah blah etc.

Shit, they're in 2K14 as well, just turned off by default. Can't believe they're pretending they are additions when they've been in the games for at least 2 years. It's not even the typical take shit out and add it back a few years later stuff. It's shit that has been in the game for years and they're pretending it is new because it is turned on by default now.
