Blizzard announces Overwatch. Team based MP Shooter [Up: Trailers, Screens, More]

Really like that there's option for people like me who's not very good at FPS. Really happy about full support heroes.

yeah, if last gen was classified as the age of 'grim-dark bald space marines', I can easily see this gen getting the 'hyper-color Pixar cartoon' label.

Knack, Sunset Overdrive, Fable Legends, Fortnite, Battleborn, Project Spark, etc. Now add Overwatch.

Not saying that's necessarily a bad thing, just seeing an interesting trend in the past year.

16-bit era: Cartoons
PS1 era: Anime
PS2 era: Grand Theft Auto
PS3 era: Dudebro
PS4 era: Pixar

We finally came full circle.

Hmm not necessarily my type of game and while extremely polished, the art style and character design so far doesn't really excite me.

That said, there aren't actually many companies out there that produce these kind of games and have extremely solid engines and netplay as well as proper longtime support. Of course there's Valve with TF2 and perhaps CS if you want to count that. But other than that? Are the any really successful arena shooters or whatever you call them out there currently?

Should Blizzard deliver a fluid gameplay experience with a great engine and proper netplay, this will be a nice addition to the genre if nothing else. And this is something that I expect they'll darn surely get right for the most part.

Wonder about the monetization though. If it's Moba hero cosmetics style I sure hope they don't go overboard with the cosmetics, otherwise say good bye to quickly recognizing the characters you're facing.

No problem with 6v6, it's totally fine as long as the maps are scaled appropriately.

That choice of gametypes is definitely TF2ish, though.

I'd preorder the statue but I know shipping it to Canada will cost me about asmuch as the statue for brokerage and duties.
