League of Legends character archetype comparison part 2 - with pics

Not accusing anyone of being a ripoff, LoL is just as guilty of using these tropes and takes huge influence from pop culture and mythology as well. But it's interesting to see such similar archetypes.

I don't even know what to say to this.

The one that nerfed stickies? That was reverted, unlike the other nerfs.

You don't have to say anything. This latest "Halloween" patch introduced 50 new cosmetics and a gamemode that is getting glitched back and forth with exploiters and they are still not fixing it. The only good thing from it is the bumper cars, which is cool I guess. But 50 new comestics and they gave you 6 items randomly from that pool for "free" with the explanation that last year people were hoarding them because people simply teamed up to get the items the community made. So what do they do? Remove the way for people to obtain these items (which are all made by the community btw) and give everyone 1 single use item that gives you 3 random items. The rest are locked behind a paywall of 2.5 dollars each. With the amount of money this game gives Valve people are astonished that they are slacking of so much with the bug fixes and updates to the game. They even "promised" new comics every 3'rd month and now they updated after like a year and they didn't even explain it.
Sure, they're just cosmetics. You don't actually have to buy them. But then again, there are items that are breaking the fundamental balance of the game like the Short Circuit which requires engineers to simply hold down m1 to counter every single class that can hurt their buildings. That's just 1 item. They still haven't balanced it after all the complaints they've gotten. So what do they do, even though they have these beta servers to test new things on? They suddenly, from nowhere, fundamentally change a class by simply destroying a class's main weapon after 7 years, with no real feedback to why; simply doing whatever the hell they want. Luckily, it was reverted because the backlash was so huge.

I could go on forever. This is a f2p game sure, but the way this team has handled this game over the years with it's ridiculous new weapons that break the game without using their beta servers or even listening to their community is just hilarious really. They need to step up their game and I'm glad Blizzard is here to at least show them some competition.

Don't see any real point in these LoL comparisons. First of all those are common archetypes and they don't even look that similar on top of that, so yeh. But at least you aren't insinuating anything.

one neat thing I noticed when i played - when I was on offense, I started out in an arcade. Some of the arcade machines were like "Lost Vikings 3", "Seige [something] 2", etc. neat little nods to other Blizz games.

Just watched both trailers and I like what I see. It has an almost Pixar aesthetic, and the character types seem to be quite varied. CGI trailer did feel a bit cheesy, but the actual gameplay really won me over. Looks like an even more chaotic Team Fortress, especially with the added vertically of flying/floating characters. This has some potential.

You're really reaching in these comparisons.

lol @ riot's designs being original

A good chunk of those comparisons above are a stretch.

Not only that but most of the LoL characters somewhat rip off of DOTA1 Warcraft 3 characters anyway. Which them themselves are linked somewhere to something else.

Companies make very little creatively new anymore. Even in novels and stuff. Our species are creatively bankrupt.

I think the game looks pretty good. But seeing this only make me more disappointed of what Titan could've been. This creative gameplay inhabiting a world with the scope and scale of WoW would've been amazing.

Looks like a modern Blizzard game all right. Not particularly appealing to me, but I'm happy that other people are into it. I could imagine the art style definitely makes an impression to the young/adult crowds (teens and adolescents), akin to Pixar and other CGI animations/cartoons.

I can't... I just...
So you admit valve stole Dota.. Yet make a comment about Blizzard being salty.. Like they should have been ok with that?

I don't see those as mutually exclusive.

Thing is, Valve didn't steal Dota. Blizzard had Dota and then left it out at the curb with the trash instead of doing something with it. Valve saw an opportunity being foolishly ignored---taken for granted---and capitalized on it.

Interestingly enough I think it has worked out for the best for everybody, including Blizzard. I don't think Blizzard was interested in putting in the effort required for a DOTA2. After they canceled their DOTA and/or transitioned it to the far more accessible Heroes of the Storm I'd say they've realized they can't produce a better dota than Valve already has.

If all heroes are unlocked are microtransactions going to be cosmetic?

Hope it doesn't turn into a TF2 carnival of hats...

Called it.

Characters lack cohesion.

Tech-Fairy, Talking Gorilla, and Grim Reaper Pistol Grimdark Dude.

I'm sure it'll be fun, but the universe seems like such a mish-mosh of nonsense. No soul to it.
