Who else did she beat?

Because I don't think D1 is considered a "top" west coast player is he? He's more known for commentating.
You can watch her beat Xzax and Sky in the other video. ZeRo was in attendance, don't know if he played her. There were a lot of pros there.

I think this was likely either staged or the players were letting her win. Not that I'm saying she's not a good player, or anything bad was going on, but this seems a bit too incredible to be true.

Noah was 8 years old when he beat several top players in UMVC3. And he is quite skilled in other fighting games.

Kayane was around the same age when he was beating up on top players in Soul Calibur 2 which she became world champion before she was 13 at one point.

Jayce the Ace was less than 16 when he beat several top players in SFIV.

There is a very young, around 13 years old Filipino Tekken player who made it to the Global championship. There is also another young Tekken player around the same age who is also as good.

Sonic Fox is 16 years old, started earlier than that and he has won several majors in several fighting games in the last two years.

I can list more and more young competitive gaming prodigies. It isn't far fetched to see a 10 year old kid play Smash at a very high level.

She beat a Marth, and a Diddy too. One of the players she took a match off of was Sky with a Diddy ditto.

Anyway, I'm more impressed that she was able to play Diddy that well after picking Diddy up cold. As in never playing the character before.

Also, I'm dispointed that nobody made a Karissa Explains it All joke yet.

actual players, since people are asking:

Xzax got 17th at Apex 2014 for Brawl, however assuming that he was the Robin in the first two matches he didn't actually lose a game (I can't tell who's playing which games here?)

Sky's highest placing at a major was 17th at MLG Raleigh, however that was 4+ years ago, his most recent one is 97th at Apex 2013 and 13th in doubles at Apex 2014
also isn't this dude a LoL person

and D1 is a great commentator but not a good player, the other matches and apparently picking up Diddy on the fly are more impressive :P

I just want to point out all these kids sound cool as fuck. I can only imagine being that good at something at that age.

Why are those clowns chanting for "D1" "D1", give that girl some respect.

Karissa was awesome, hope she gets a chance to play in some big tournaments if she wants to.

I appreciate the videos. They're awesome. But you're being a little ridiculous. They're cheering for the player they want to win. How is that disrespectful?

lol and that guy calls himself a pro player? lol so bad.

On top of that Smash is just a button masher.

Guys, the joke here is that D1 is the underdog here.

We finally found the slayer. ;)
Get this man on the case

No its really not a button masher.

This is probably the most adorable thing ever. Props to the kid. Truly impressive gameplay.

Basically, she's employing advanced survival techniques that require quick reflexes while also predicting what her opponents are going to do and then punishing their asses hard.

I bet I don't even know how to do that crap even if I knew what they meant, guess I should look it up.

I wonder why kids being really good at video games is "surprising".

I was way better at Smash then (compartively, since it was smash 64) than I am now.
Same thing for Tetris Attack. getting 9x like it was nothing.

Kids git good.

I don't see how something like wouldn't be surprising, otherwise we'd see it happen fairly often.

That's all very interesting.

I'd also add Starcraft 2 player Life to the list. Life played his first televised match when he was 15, and is probably the best starcraft 2 player there is now at the age of 17.

And there's obviously chess, with a bunch of examples, most notable probably being Bobby Fisher starting to show up on the scene at age 12 and becoming a grandmaster at age 15.

She's not beating actual top players quite yet, but I really hope she sticks with the scene because she very well might someday soon.

She's a shit talker too? Chosen one indeed.

It was adorable when she had the crowd cheering for her when she asked for a rematch.

I was a gutless coward and sore loser at 10!

This is amazing.

Not knowing the SSB or heck, any FG scene, I see a thread like this I apply Occam's Razor to reverse the thread title. "Top SSB players aren't actually any better than random 10yo".
So you found a way of feeling superior to everyone involved without knowing anything about the subject matter

great job

Yeah, my favorite part of the video is how she is not phased at all and just turns around and gets some support for herself.

That's all very interesting.

I would like to add that Mangnus Carlsen, the world champion in 2013, became grandmaster at 13.

Is Mango the dude who used to let people win because he liked them too much?

You might be thinking of Isai? I know Wife said in the Smash documentary that he thought Isai used to let the other person win, just because he'd rather see the other person be happy that they were advancing than be sad that they lost.

I don't think Mango has ever really let people win to my knowledge.

Last Saturday, At a Gamestop in West Hollywood.

Aw man. Could've went to this! Was this posted on GAF?

Also, that girl will probably go far with smash if she keeps it up. It'll definitely make the tournament scene more interesting if she stays consistent and makes it to the finals.

You're right. It was Isai who had the really good Falcon when he tried.

I think Mango was the crazy partying dude.
