Sonic Boom Street Date (and fans' hearts) Broken

This reaction paired with the title.. I lost it.. haven't laughed this hard in a while. my god. LOL

Guys while it sounds funny, maybe taking a dig at the developer's career might not be the right thing to do in the OT. I don't know it just feels..mean and unnecessary. Just my 2 cents

anywho I need to watch the whole game on youtube later. At least the cut scenes.

Ah, now there's a familiar sight.

This happened to me when I posted leaked material of Unleashed back in 2008. Cost me my account too.

Youtube's hardly perfect but there's a lot less account closures over this stuff lately. Usually only when a game dev doesn't want negative and/or pre-release videos of their content out.

Why aren't there reviews out yet? It's out TOMORROW.
...oh right.

This is Sega, the same company that went after people for posting footage of 10+ year old Shining games. Of course, this was an attempt to get those fucking awful PSP games noteworthy responses when searching on the franchise.

That worked out well for em.

Oh yeah, I remember that Shining Force thing, that was super asinine. Someone I knew uploaded all his Shining Force videos under a different name to avoid Sega's pack of hounds.

For a second I thought that was the derpy cutscene video with the ship. Thank god it wasn't o.o

That video must be preserved for the ages. I will show it to my children.

I thought the same thing. Someone needs to archive it before it's too late, future generations of game developers will have it shown to them as a cautionary tale hologram before they go to sleep.

Yeah actually, I feel bad lol. It was more of a joke, don't actually use it. It'd be pretty bad form :P

I really do pity their situation, I'm certain something out of their control happened in the middle of production. It's not hard to come to the conclusion that this was a cross-gen, cross-platform release at some point, with the PS4/X1 versions as the lead platforms. The exclusivity deal probably fucked all that up.

This game is making noise but just because of how awful it looks. The worse is that reviews are not even out yet... I actually feel bad of the developers now, but really, the game just doesn't look good :c

I would like to hear exactly what happened here. That cryengine 3 demo seems very out of place now. However, the animations and everything else are so bad I find it hard to believe it's just changing platforms that went wrong.

I don't get why SEGA have left the cutscenes video up from Rocksterrock. Their account appears to alive for now.

But since the game is out in a days time I guess the LP can resume then...or will SEGA C&D it again despite the fact the players didn't think it was terrible, its just not a Sonic game (its basically like what we've thought, an unremarkable 2000s era platformer).

Impossible, they are clearly laughing at both nintendo's sonic deal and wii u owners with this crap, sonic has been rubbish for ages but this is taking it to sonic 06 lows.
No one should feel sorry for these developers, they are clearly taking the piss with a title that's not ready and was never going to be even slightly playable.

Taken from /v/

Not sure how true that is, but damn. This game had a terrible development cycle.

I was actually in that thread. I'll take anything /v/ says with massive grains of salt, but if that supposed job posting at BRB for a "crossgen game based off massive third party property" meant Sonic Boom, then this game having bad development would explain a lot.

After seeing the gameplay, I am not so surprised. Also, that guys videos got removed.

Sonic Boom |OT| Falling through a world in motion

Sonic Boom |OT| The Rest of Us: Left Behind

Sonic Boom |OT| Could Have Fixed It, But Knuckles Used All The Tape

Sonic Boom |OT| Shadow not available in Co-Op

I think "Sonic Boom |OT| Sonic 2014" is fine. Short, simple, and to the point.

GAF creativity firing on all cylinders today. :lol

The first three all have my "please do it" vote for OT title.

The only hope I have for this abomination foaming in the pits of Mobius is that SEGA will never again do something as stupid as crib a premise from the Generic '80s Saturday Morning Cartoon Playbook and rush a game to half-completion so it can debut roughly alongside a sent-to-die kids' show. Get a Western project manager immediately! License some fan-game creations! Let Whitehead and company make a retro revival installment! Anything like that would be cheaper and healthier for the franchise.

Now all the pressure's going to land on Sonic Team. I hope their next game simply expands on Generations or Colors without pretension or new gimmicks.
