How do you guys feel about the new single Guts over Fear? It's pretty interesting aurally I think. But doesn't really hold up, I wouldn't listen to it in my daily commute.

LOL why do people have to explain why they like RapGod? Its just a technically impressive song. It isn't the best song ever but why does the scale of ratings always have to be wost shit ever or best ever? The beat could have been far better but the song exists purely to display his technical skill. Its not supposed to change the world.

Not every release of his has to be some landscape changing genre defining landmark work. Some posters seem to get angry at the thought of Em even making music anymore. We all get he isn't the same as he once was but why is there so much anger? Cause he still sells as much as he does? Or because of the fans he has? Who cares? Nobody is forcing anyone to listen to it.

A lot of artists who become super mainstream and accepted will always sell no matter what they put out and of course Em has the whole being white thing going in his favor but as I always have said there could be far worse rappers/artists who could have been in this position. At least its someone who can be considered one of the best of all time.

I think those who expect Em 15-17 years removed from his days as a hungry, broke, up and coming rapper who was at his creative peak to reproduce the exact same content quality and content wise are just fooling themselves. Very few artists remain the same quality wise. Em's problem is less technical prowess and more lack of direction. And although he can't seem to put it all together for a full album, there are some gems he still puts out so its better than nothing. Complaints about "same stuff he said before" are pretty stupid. Every artist talks about the same things especially if they pull a lot from their past and childhood. I just don't know what people expect or want him to talk about other than what he knows.

Anyway whatever new material there is I hope he realizes it should be in the direction and style of Wicked Ways, Baby, Groundhog Day, Evil Twin, and Bad Guy. Tracks that feel far more natural. Then again he relegated those tracks to the bonus disk so I doubt the lightbulb has gone on completely.

Eminem is the Simpsons of hip-hop. It used to be one of the greatest (some would even say the greatest), but now it just saddens and angers people who liked the original stuff to see it fall so low. You get the occasional glimpse of brilliance, but most of it is lowest-common-denominator gruel with over-reliance on guest spots.

i don't think eminem's problem is a lack of 'fire' or whatever. it's just that he grew up to be a corny and embarrassing middle aged man is all. also once he dropped the sarcastic sneer and shady characterisations, people realised that he was actually not that bright, either.

He's made millions of dollars over his lifetime, started his own record label, and even started a film production company. And people are still making NeoGaf threads about him in 2014.

And his daughter recently graduated high school as an honors student: http://www.eonline.com/news/555402/...gh-school-with-honors-pays-tribute-to-parents

There must be at least one or two light bulbs working inside of Eminem's head. I don't believe he's as stupid as you think he is.

that's a really good analogy. although eminem was never that good.

I'm guessing he meant not bright in terms of not really having anything interesting to say with his music. That's how I see it, anyway.

What? Wasn't it released a few hours ago?

Yes, and it's already falling on iTunes.

Why did he wait so late to announce with only three months apart? I enjoyed MMLP2 but he has not been that great since Relapse.[get at me haters, its a good album!]

I don't get the hate for Relapse. While it definitely wasn't on the level of MMLP/SSLP/TES/(or Infinite), it was vastly superior to MMLP2 and Recovery (and Encore, which is better than those two even). That fucking Dr. Dre production. Stay Wide Awake is incredible, as is Deja Vu, Same Song & Dance, Underground, and others. "My Darling" from the bonus track list is the last time I've heard Eminem not yelling but also sound incredible.

He's the Nofx of hip hop. You thought he was funny and provocative when you were 15, then you grew up, went to college, saw the world and got a job and realized he hadn't evolved intellectually from when you first started liking him as a kid.

just listened to the single.

yuck

when will em get tired of white girls or rhianna singing somber hooks?

the best thing he can do for me these days would be a relapse 2 without the accents. at least that album had a few tracks that made me stop, rewind and go "ohhh shiittttt" at a line.

Yeah I love the new single, loopin it. Loved Relapse and MMLP2. Excited for the new album.

Also, love the anti-Eminem GAF squad in every Eminem thread copy/pasting their opinion facts.

I don't think anyone hates on Relapse's production, which was fabulous, the songs just fucking sucked lyrically, and conceptually, and his accents and shitty tone just made it all sound bad. I preferred his voice on Recovery and MMLP2, which were steps in the right direction, but bring back the Dre production again and I'm on board

holy crap some gaf posters have some serious hate for eminem that they are watching the itunes charts to try and prove he is not selling. lol The bipolar nature of either loving or hating eminem is quite interesting to say the least

How did Dej Loaf graduate from Try Me to a spot on this release and who even let Smedium near the studio?

How you going to have 12 tracks when pushing the number 15 this whole time for the 15th year celebration?

And Hits disc 2 has some super questionable songs. PIMP over some of the classic 50 and Em songs like Patiently Waiting?

tracklist is a hot mess; for every danny brown there's 12 yelawolfs

at least disc 2 feels like an apology for the last decade or so

no Ras Kass feature?

please believe if you need to hear about white devils puttin fluoride in ya water he just dropped a good one with apollo brown

Danny Brown is not on the label. Im shocked he is on it at all.

This is a showcase for the artists on Shady Records more than anything else.

I guess Danny makes more sense than Big Sean. I believe Danny is managed by Em's manager.
