Nice to see Desk pull apart the Dudley infinite.

That boy mad.

This is true. We synchtube fighting game footage quite often and Sengoku won't even make it during the times we watch kusoge. Its existence is baffling.

Synchtube?

Fantastic.

Blizzard would make a horrible fighting game, maybe not mechanically but their kind of support can be very stifling. This is a personal opinion but I have played a lot of their games and they always try to patch or fix anything that they didn't put there themselves. It happened countless of times within the life span of D3, players found something unique or rather out there to play with Blizzard patches it, usually saying it's for balance even though the game isn't even balanced in the first place. An example is that wizards used to have their mirror images have multiple hydras out and they patched it out, while stuff like M6 Dh is very similar in concept but much stronger. Or a lot of times they did knee jerk reactions to what seems too strong, even in a pve game.

Replace every instance of "Blizzard" with "Capcom" in that paragraph and you'll find that the same things have been said by Capcom already.

Finally personalized my Razer Atrox.

Beautiful.

This looks amazing!

That's actually really nice! It's not grossly overdesigned plus darkstalkers tho

Beautiful.

It's...it's beautiful *sniff*

I take (almost) no credit whatsoever for the design, by the way. Shoutouts to Zerch from the SRK stick art thread. That being said, I did change the button colors, but that's because I wanted to use the silent buttons from another stick. Come to think of it, it might look even better if I use the black silent buttons from my VS SH for the first 6. Hm...

So, the reason I've been using my Razer Atrox at all lately is because I recently got an Xbox One and a Titan One usb converter. It was made by the dude who did the core tech for the Cronus Max, except he split off from that company to make his own thing after some bullshit happened between them. The Titan One has a tournament firmware that disables macros and all the extra unfair bullshit, and is instantly verifiable by the "t" that shows up on the thing's LED when it's plugged in and working. Solves the problem of "how do I know this programmable stick doesn't have macros in it?" Also, I took it to a buddy's house (who has multiple controllers) and it didn't cause any funny business with lag or randomly pausing other players or anything like that. It also didn't fry the USB port (it got lukewarm, but no hotter).

I have no affiliation whatsoever with the people involved in making that product, but after having used it, I have to vouch for it. It's $60-70 on Amazon, and gives you the equivalent of a PS4/PS3/360/Xbone multiconsole mod with no lag and no complicated setup process. The only thing (and this is actually the best resource out for this right now) is that there is an authentication time on PS4 that no device has been able to figure out a workaround for yet. After 10 minutes, the device is disconnected by the PS4 OS automatically, because it fails authentication (which it polls for every 30 seconds). Your options are to either leave a Dual Shock 4 plugged in to pass the auth check and use a laptop as a passthrough for your controller, leave it plugged in so it can auto-"reinsert" itself after the PS4 disconnects it (essentially the equivalent of taking your hands off the stick for a half-second), or disconnect and reconnect it manually after every match (safest bet).

For that reason, I'd say the top choice for a multiconsole solution is a PS4 stick + Titan One converter. You can lose the converter on PS4 (and PS3) and not deal with the 10 minute disconnect or having to reinsert after every match to guarantee that it doesn't do the auto-drop mid-match, and have a perfect solution for all the other consoles.

After talking to (and trying to get in touch with) several stick modders about looking into a multiconsole mod for PS3, PS4, Xbone, and 360, this, IMO, is the best bet, and the best bang for your buck. The only alternative is something like a PS4 stick + a PS360 board + an Xbone controller PCB, I think. Anything else, and you'd have to add a Dual Shock 4 PCB to the mix as well, and possibly a hardware switch between the 3 PCBs.

YES PALUTENA TECH.

She can use Lightweight (custom downB 2) indefinitely if you downB right before you fall through a platform.

I did something similar with Peach today (not my video) which is done similarly. If you do the ledge drop cancelled downB, Peach weirdly gets a Turnip Farm:

That is so sick. It's just the thing I've been waiting for to finally have a reason to use Palutena more.

Blizzard fighting game discussion is weird.

No one is making fighting games outside of the established specialists going forward

At least so far as games you guys want to play

There's Skullgirls, Fighting is Magic, Zinac's indie game (can't remember the title, sorry), that Luchadora fighting game... People are putting in work.

Blizzard ain't one of them, though.

This dude starts off complaining about spoilers. Not a big anime fan myself, but fuck this guy.

What luchador fighting game? Also thought the MLP game died

Did it? I haven't been keeping up at all. Last I heard, the MLP creator volunteered to design new, unlicensed characters for the game, since they got a cease and desist from Hasbro.

And I mean this luchardora game:

Haven't commented on plenty of very spiffy looking stuff in the last couple of pages, but it's all looking very, very good. Congrats to all for good progress, good press, good news, and good upcoming releases!

As for this screenshot saturday, here's a preview of the three new grapple moves from this week:

CaringRipeCurlew.gif

I'm still missing the last two grapple moves, one to allow throwing the opponent the other way and another attack. And then, I'm done with animating this character! I CAN'T WAIT TO BE DONE ANIMATING THIS CHARACTER

Retro specifically said games we would want to play

Smaller devs are still making original fighting games in Japanese arcades too.

But they aren't big games that most people here want to play

And that's my point really. Seems people are hoping with overwatch for something similar to be done with fighting games( surprise big new ip ou
of nowhere) and I just don't see that happening. Fighting games are too much work for too little return for anyone who isn't experienced or passionate about them to bother

This is ignoring that blizzard is a pc dev. Making an original fighting game for pc makes about as much sense as making an original moba for consoles

Shit, that reminds me: Yatagarasu!

Synchtube?

It's a site where you can pop in a youtube video and it will play at the same time for anybody in the room who's watching. Has a little chat in the room too. We use it to watch FG footage together, last time I used it we watched P4U2 ArcRevo, we have nights where we watch modern footage and nights where we watch older stuff. KoF XI nights are my favorite. Hell, older SNK game night is always fun.

There was some luchador game posted here a few weeks back, though I'm not sure about it.

The MLP game is supposedly getting rebooted with new Lauren Faust chars.

Maybe Señor Footsie?

Wow, this website is pretty cool. Doesn't seem like there are too man people using it just yet, but it looks like it could end up being pretty useful for finding people to play those games with locally. Rad.

You guys should totally add Killer Queen to your list though! That game is amazingly fun when you can actually manage to get a proper 5 v 5 going. It was definitely the most fun I had playing a video game with other people in years.

Unlike the other games on the site it's tied to an arcade machine and not consoles/PC so it's a bigger pain to find places where you can play, much less with ~9 other people.

Good suggestion.

You're right. We're stating off small so far. Gotta create the right kind of space and then convey the right message.

I hope it'll grow. If it does, I can see local groups hosting events and adding their local games to the mix. Killer Queen is a monster to set up. But if the Indie Circuit can make it easier, that's half the battle.

This sounds like a dream come true!

I bet money it violates a ToS out there somewhere though. Been around awhile. Sorry if I made a mistake :v

I don't see how it could, people have adblock for no ads or they watch the videos together as a group, its the same concept, just in a different setting. Also, I mentioned adblock since this synctube might disable ads but I doubt that's the case. Fun times will be had now, FGC-chat can be with you whenever you want it to be!

It would actually be pretty awesome if we held a thing like this weekly and just chatted amongst ourselves during the matches. Would love to see Dahbomb's reactions during a hype marvel match.

I meant little, as the audience isn't there and the games aren't suited to the primary controller of the platform.

Well I'd say otherwise, Nidhogg did pretty damn well and I would consider that a fighting game, albeit a fighting games that takes spacing to another level. It can happen, it just needs to be simple to pick up, difficult to master, which is why I love Nidhogg. Divekick was close to doing it in my opinion but it fizzed out eventually. It can be replicated and the audience is there, you just gotta make it enticing
and possibly 8-bit since that's still a thing
.

Also the bold doesn't make sense or at least it sounds confusing. You can map a controller (PS4, One, 360, PS3, 3rd party, fight stick), some through third party means, some programmed by the coders. There isn't a controller for PC, the keyboard counts I guess, since there never was one and people have preferences on what to use so it should empower fighting games even more on PC.

What? That doesn't make sense. KB/M is much more versatile than pad at this point.

Isn't the majority of Skullgirl's sales on PC anyway?

I disagree, man. A decent fighting game on PC is great because there are so few. You can just throw your games on a laptop and bring it to people's houses. If it's a small laptop, bring an HDMI setup, and you have a "console" that works with damn near any stick.

I have Yatagarasu, Skullgirls, Street Fighter IV, KOF XIII, and all the 90s/2000s games (emulation).

That's why you don't just port existing games, you design around your platform.

A MOBA that worked perfectly with a controller would be a better fit for consoles (and a better game) than a DotA2 or LoL port. Besides KI I want a One for the upcoming Smite port, or at least I hope they add the full controller support to the PC version.

And really, there's nothing wrong with Keyboard for fighters. Just stick to down, forward , down, back , and back, forward inputs without obtuse traditional motions like diagonal requiring quarter circles, DPs, 360s, half circles, chicken wings, pretzels, the flash kick super motion, etc.

And that's to say nothing of the benefit that being free of the restrictions on content addition and game modification that console companies put on devs (see the Skullgirls issues on consoles).

Everyone is too focused on the team based vs single person aspect, as an excuse to write off all the good things that other competitive live tournament and online multiplayer genres with multiple distinct selectable characters do that fighting games could look at, instead of trying to shoehorn arcade games into consoles, the United States, or the year 2014.

I'm not sure you need versatility for fighting games on PC, keyboards just flat out suck for them.

Also? PC has free fucking multiplayer.

Well said.

Mortal Kombat motions would work great on keyboard. Hopefully WB and NRS will focus more on the PC version this time around.

FGs: Sounds like a lot of work.

I was actually interested a while ago on doing it and did some research, animators have such a hard time doing 15-20 frames on average for just one move if its going to be a 2D sprite fighter... The struggle is real. I can probably cut it down to 5 frames, however it wouldn't look as smooth and the attention to detail is just jaw dropping, the shadowing is on another level, especially for a game like 3rd strike.

Edit:

UMVC3 Halls of Hype Volume 18

This sounds odd, MrWizard has an account here so we'll wait for him to tell his side of the story. I understand the frustration Watts has since it was never mentioned in EVO or to the other SRK members. This isn't the first time MrWizard is being hated so this might paint the picture of him being the villain here so it would be wise of him to deal with this immediately.

lol at anyone thinking Wizard is going to say anything about the situation on Gaf because he just so happens to have an account on the site.
