Dragon Age: Inquisition Review Thread

To be expected. If there are even just 5 unique mounts with custom skeletons, skins and basic animations I will be quite surprised.

The war nug I linked earlier is probably one of my favourites. The way you acquire it is quite funny too.

Ya, I was sort of leaning towards getting it. I appreciate your insight though. I will read up on the lore to see if I can get myself up to snuff. But damn I have so many games to play/finish. CoD campaign, Sunset Overdrive, Halo MCC, and now this. Should I complain or should I say finally? I'm thinking finally.

Yep. I am getting ACU this week and might beat the main story alone this weekend then return it. Fortunately I already beat Sunset Overdrive. MCC I won't be getting till after I'm done with Dragon Age since I'd only get it for the multiplayer. LBP3 and Far Cry 4 will sadly go into a backlog unless I have friends wanting to play multi

Lots of recolors though.

I only need one mount and it's that deer looking motherfucker. Why would you get a horse when you can ride a majestic deer/buck is beyond me.

The parts they wanted to show, that is. They didn't really show the tactical view stuck on ceilings, dumbed down tactics, PC version reaching only 50fps on max settings or the lack of attribute points.

Well they did show indoor tactical camera and this only happened a few times, so I'm not particularly worried.

I agree about the tactics though. That's a shame.

They were very up front about the attributes thing.

As bad as your sarcasm is, posting over the top gifs for attention sort of proves my point, lol.

You're just an angry person who is upset people can enjoy games you don't, and wants everyone else to feel bad too, according to you.
I'm sorry, it's much harder to answer without sarcasm at such stupid replies. posting a gif as a substitute of "LOL" surely proves your point, yup.
you still make no sense as why I'm supposed to be angry or upset, but believe what you want, lol.
keep going, I won't reply anymore

I didn't actually call you dumb, but I'm not surprised you didn't get that (e: not calling you dumb here either, just pointing out how little thought you seem to be putting into reading posts and replying to them). Rest of this post I'm not even gonna address cause it makes me sad someone could write it, read it through and think "yes, this is fine" and click that submit reply button.
so you were calling yourself dumb? Such a smart post that I failed to comprehend. also I thought you were saying that I insulted everyone or something, I guess that you don't have more arguments for that.
I didn't feel offended or anything like that, let's be clear. on the other hand, this is quite amusing. oh, you're still replying, I thought you were wasting time.
(you can't properly address stuff when you're this mad about yourself or some random internet dude, I can see that)

I was never really into this type of game, but when I saw the gameplay a couple of weeks ago on PlayStation's YouTube channel, and then again on GT, I was really into it. The amount of detail in this game looks crazy. And these reviews are making me happy. A game that I can actually enjoy and put a good amount of time into.
I hope that when I do get it during winter break, I can enjoy the hell out of it.

The fact that you're here and somehow feel a need to say what you've said is plenty of proof. What sane, calm person runs into a thread and tries to purposely get people upset? The gif just exasperates your tone and shows how blatant you are in your state of mind. Your responses just make it shine through even more.

But feel free to do another post of "nuh-uh, of course not, I couldn't possibly be mad... BUT HOW DARE YOU!" when you inevitably reply for whatever stupid reason that is making you so mad. Good luck with your supposed end of replies. We both hope that's the case, lol.

I made two polar opposites World States. One where everything went fine and saved pretty much everyone (like my real playthrough) and another one with everyone dead and bad choices all around.

It should be fun to spot the differences (if any) in DAI.

oh hey just noticed the game unlocks Midnight EST on PS4. So yeah being central this is awesome. Will definitely get through the character creation and the (what I expect will be there) tutorial/opening missions until I'm given more free roam.

It's not fair to say something like this right now. That benchmark was made with unoptimized drivers (in 1080p with 4xMSAA, just to remind you). I'm sure AMD and NVidia will release them to improve the performance.

Damn son, have you posted a single reply to me that didn't boil down to "u mad"? Oh my god ahaha, I have literally never seen anyone so desperate for a reaction on NeoGAF. I am actually genuinely laughing, this is something people did when I was 13 and posting on Finnish forums filled with other 13 year olds.

I admit it, I've been had. You can't not be a troll. Give yourself a pat in the back and when you go to bed, whisper "i really trolled muntu hard today. he mad." to your favorite teddy. You've earned it.

Is everyone in agreement to how long the game is 85 hours?

Also, anyone know how big the budget is?

We now have two reviewers saying that they have completed the main quest and a decent amount of side content at 85 hours so I'm going to assume that an easy/medium difficulty you can expect this length. Note that both of the reviewers who mentioned the 85 hours said they're still going back because there's still a ton of side content they want to do so it very well may be a 100+ hour game.

What if I have never played a Dragon Age before?

The Keep is going to be confusing, but there are some sites to fill you in on what the decisions mean. Also, there is narration in the Keep itself.

Yeah, the choices will just be confusing without any context. Use this site when you make your World State for Inquisition in Dragon Age Keep, it'll hopefully help a little: http://thedialoguewheel.wordpress.com/.

PCGamer just put up a video where they're going through all of the choices. I haven't watched it yet, though, so I'm not sure on how comprehensive it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rv6A-CHqkq8

Bought. The positive reviews on top of the realization that I can't think of another game this year I'd want on release put this game in my library.

Green Man gaming $48 was pretty decent.

Just read the eurogamer review.

"Once the shine had worn off though, disappointment began setting in."
"The role-playing too, pretty as it is, didn't feel like BioWare. There are straight up MMO style quests, like collecting 10 bits of meat, which at least make sense in context - that you're helping refugees and refugees need food. Others, however, are thrown in with no finesse whatsoever."

"The big threat is boring, and it's hard to take everyone seriously when they rattle on about its urgency but still have time to make fancy Inquisition banners and armour, and the basic solution is openly "Just get some mages to help zap the green swirly thing."

"Most stories and decisions just provide trinkets or Dragon Age's equivalent of Mass Effect 3's War Assets, though others can unlock their own stories and decisions further down the story."

"[...]the ambient dialogue in general never got close to the zip of Dragon Age 2's banter or the squabbling between Morrigan and Alistair. BioWare games usually do a great job of making your group feel like family. Here, they were assets."

"None of this is remotely deep or strategic. When asked if a situation calls for diplomacy, spies or military strength, any of them will work and few require any more effort on your part than actively not declaring "Zhu Li, do the thing!" at an unlistening monitor."

"Combat tries to offer a similar compromise, though it's not entirely successful."

"There were many exciting battles on the main story, but none I could say were tactically very interesting, and none of them against one of the oddly unimaginative damage-sponge bosses, with Rift clean-up detail especially wearing out its welcome. Like the equally boring Oblivion gates, every one is basically the same - deal with a couple of demon waves, don't stand on exploding ground, close rift. Yawn."

"At times though, it can still be oddly... not bland as such, but definitely flatter than it should be, with an odd reluctance to follow through on anything that might create a sense of vulnerability or ambiguity. [...] everyone except all-out evil factions tend to be reasonably happy to see you, and often desperate to sign up. Your first proper enemy meanwhile literally introduces himself by punching a nun in the face."

"Here, everything remains insular, confined to its own bit of the story rather than being intertwined and paying off when you least expect it. At least, unless I was just unlucky."

8/10

A good piece, but it feels like the guy didn't have the balls to give it a 6 or 7 I would've guessed from his words.

Rpgs do not need a huge fan base and they will never do so.

I'm still wary.

Edit: based on his words that's not an 8. That's a 5 or 6.

Just read the eurogamer review.

Greater than the sum of its parts I would guess. I've posted rather scathing critiques of Wasteland 2 and its serious faults and bad design decisions, yet I would still score the game pretty high because after all is said and done it was a joy to play and super addictive in a way few games are.

man you really want people to hate this game.

anyways im stoked its getting good reviews. i've never played a dragon age game before so bring on the confusion

For the reviewers out there, can anyone confirm if there is anything truly content locked by being one gender over another like in DAO:
Being a male warden allows you to forego dying by creating a God Baby with Morrigan
