Spoiler warning and all that.

Whoa, isn't the
OGB only supposed to be 9 or 10? Kid looks like a mini adult.

Morrigan's face model looks better than it did earlier on at least. Still, Morrigan's Inquisition face lacks some of the character that she had in Origins. Her hair style looks terrible, even just compared to Origins since its covering up half her face.

The hair in general in Inquisition looks absolutely dreadful.

Dammit, I'm going to have to go on a blackout lest I spoil the whole damn game.

First, thanks to everyone for all of the support and kind words. I'm very new to the community here, but it's been really amazing to see people's excitement! A lot of us at the studio are very relieved but are still working to ensure a smooth launch over the coming days.

Dragon Age: Inqusition, is first and foremost, a game for Dragon Age fans. When we faced the biggest decisions on the project, we always tried to go with, "What would fans want us to do?" It's why there's not just more exploration, there's WAY more exploration. It's why there's more followers than in previous DA games, including some returning ones. It's why there's Skyhold. It's why crafting is back and bigger than ever. It's why there's so much lore.

I've seen some criticisms of that approach because there are times it can feel overwhelming to a new player. I suppose that's valid, so I'll accept that. In the end, I hope the team has created a game that is exciting and interesting enough that a new player will push through that, and from what I can see, there are lots of veteran DA players willing to help! But I'm proud that they made a game first and foremost for Dragon Age fans, and we'll keep working to help new fans enjoy it as well.

Now back to it! :)
I have to say Aaryn, one of my favorite things has been how open you and your staff have been during the development of DA:I, and I really hope you keep doing this for future projects. Of course you had to hold back things that you couldn't show us at times, but the almost constant stream of interaction between devs and fans has been wonderful and incredibly reassuring. :) I absolutely cannot wait to play!

First of all congrats on making on what may very well be one of the contenders, if not the winner, of many GOTY awards. On a year that has been extremely disappointing this game is almost a shining beacon. Heck it's the only game I've seen videos, researched and kept up with the news in ages. Reviews are pretty damn great too so pat yourselves on the back as your POV on thinking what would DA fans would like definitely paid off.

Cannot wait to play it. Thanks to you and the rest of the guys/gals at Bioware for bringing us the game. The thirst was real.

I still want to know if there's massive differences between
regular morrigan baby and old god baby
as far as story goes.

the fact it's an option means that it probably won't make a difference in the long run. If they made it canon it'd be more important but the issue is all of the world states.

I hope you guys ask that question again when it comes to creating a modding toolset.

A more recent screenshot of my warrior.

Dawg how are you liking warrior? At first I wanted to go all out two-handed warrior because I've never done that in this series, but then I got turned off by reports that its boring to play.

Is warrior fun? I want to just scream into battle swinging my two-hander and cutting foes down, dont wanna be a tank really.

Have yet to play the game to see if my concerns are valid or not. But got to recognize that you guys went beyond scope expectations, by releasing the Keeper (kudos to whomever decided that), the amount of in-game content, the tactical camera in all platforms, Multiplaying, and the returning characters.

Glad to hear that fixes are coming. And if the games proves to be too complex for the modding community, hope you guys consider an expansion that gives more head customizations for Qunari and the option to change your appearance like in Black Emporioum. (and a rebalancing patch for the Rift/Necro specs, which look underwhelming-not unique enough).

Absolutely.

A HUGE part of the reason I played and replayed Origins as much as I did was because so many little mods came out that fixed little issues I had with the game. Issues that maybe weren't breaking the game but taken together detracted from it.

A lot of the criticisms I've seen in reviews and from footage seem like those sorts of same issues that maybe could at least in part be helped out by fostering a healthy modding community. It would at least be nice if modders were given a chance.

What system is everyone getting this game on? Also what race and class Yall going for?

PC
Human male Sword and Shield or TH warrior.

Thank you for listening to us and addressing our concerns, as a long time fan of the franchise I hope the best for DA:I and I'm extremely glad that you decided to take this path, please keep on it in the future. :D

I played around with the Keep thing for a bit because I couldn't remember much of anything from DAO. Damn, just hearing the story again reminded me how much I loved that game. Really tempted to hook up the 360 for a few days to get back in the DA groove.

PS4. I'll probably dual-tank (human male for stat boost) with Iron Bull with a Champion specialization 2H warrior, unless IB is a Champion and not a Reaver.

Dorian and Sera as ranged support.

Next playthrough I'll do a mage. Maybe Qunari female.

Those are some good reviews, but I'm still on the fence. I like most of BioWare's stuff but I hated DA:O.

PS4 because my laptop can't run this better than my PS4 could.

As to the race and class:
Race: Qunari. Probably light skinned and a less gruff/manly looking face more handsome. Also facial hair of some kind. The albino qunari. I was going to go human at first but Qunari have to deal with racism in the world so it makes it more interesting.

Class: Mage. Not only are mages always awesome in DA titles, but Qunari mages are especially awesome and rare. Being one of the only not-slave qunari mages will be great too.

Specialization: Knight Enchanter. Because if it wasn't obvious by now I like making my character to be as special of a snowflake as possible. And knight enchanters have melee abilities which my only sword and shield party member will need.

PC/Qunari/male/mage/knight enchanter

So do we get married now or later? lol

that overwhelming feeling is something people solely miss once they finish a game so i wouldn't worry about that too much. it's a positive as much as a negative. in most games i actually hope to get that overwhelming feeling in the first few hours.

PS4, with a Dwarf warrior. Not sure whether I'll start Champion or Reaver, or where I'll go after that. The important bit is being a Dwarf warrior and watching elves have a lot of "accidents" during these perilous times yet again.

Have to admit though, really hyped for the release. I blew it off during this past E3, and didn't even acknowledge its existence before that.

Elven female Necromancer! Going to use this preset, tweak it and make her look kinda necromancer-ish :) Also going to ride around on the bog unicorn, because it fits perfectly with my character haha. My PC right now isn't strong enough to play, so I'm going to be playing on my PS4.

Just curious if there are any others who are coming to the Dragon Age series fresh? What are your thoughts on giving this a try?

I have played maybe 15 minutes of the first Dragon Age and think I got disinterested/distracted and never pursued it any further, but I'm gonna dive into this game just based on the positive reviews and word of mouth. It's top of my queue with one slot open so I'll be getting it from GameFly next week.

I hope you guys ask that question again when it comes to creating a modding toolset.

Absolutely. I can't say if / when it will happen, but as a former tools programmer (I worked on the NWN Toolset back in the day), it's pretty obvious that a better generation of programmers, taking what we have now and refining, improving, and packaging it, would be... amazing...

Anyone got gameplay of simple town/landscape (forest, mountains, lakes) exploration?

I just want to see how well the general music/how interesting the locales are.

You guys are liking the combat better than DA2? Playing on hard are you? It's not a superficial difficulty spike, right? It encourages using tactical overview to play skillfully/thoughtfully?

That'd be rad! Anyway, thanks for making what appears to be a kickass game, and being so connected with the fans. I know I speak for all of us when I say we appreciate it!

Wondering the same thing myself

Two handed Warrior was pretty boring and vastly inferior to dual wielding in DA:O, and I hope it's one of the things they spent a lot of time working on and tuning to make sure it's fun and effective.

Does this game have a save import thing? Never played 2 and I don't wanna feel like I'm missing out. How friendly is it to pretty much going in blind.

Check out the Dragon Age Keep. You can make and import all your choices without playing either of the old games.

You'll probably be happier if you catch up on some of the lore, watch the recap of the first two games in the Keep, etc.

edit:

This site is pretty vital in making Keep decisions if you've never played.

Are there any reviews that really get into the feel of combat and the use of skills? The reviews I've read seem to only barely touch upon the combat engine.

I'd like to know more about mobility, flanking and parry/counter abilities in the real-time mode -- specifically, is melee combat meaty and/or reliable enough to be interesting when just controlling a single character? I'm not expecting something approaching Bayonetta, of course, but if melee combat is just mashing buttons without regard to enemy animations/positioning, I'd rather play a ranged character and stick to the tactical view.
