(you guys are too nice to me I s2g)
I wish someone could hype up COPA for me. Why should I read it? Ya'll know I'll buy it if you convince me.

Does it give emotional boners like Zero?

C'mon... We all know you'll buy it anyways.

Have you read Ostrander's run on Suicide Squad? It started as a homage to that and has continued to get better with each arc. It's by far the best ongoing series I've read not being published by a traditional publisher. But don't just take my word for it, feel free to read these glowing reviews by Comicbook.com, Comics Alliance, and Comics Should Be Good, or read issue #1 for free from the creator's website.

You know me too well.

I'm going to need ComicGAF to pick out my wallpaper for my new computer as well. I got dual monitors so take that into consideration.

Bought!

I read issue 33 of The brave and the bold. This one:

bab_cv33_ds-copy.jpg

I bought it a while back as I love all 3 ladies and I expected a fun bit of hijinks leading to some kind of superhero action. What I got was a heavy dose of hijinks and drunken madness
Zatanna and Wonder Woman making out in a drunken stooper for some reason lol
. What I didn't expect was the crushing feels the last 1/4 of the book delivers. The whole thing leads to
Zatanna and Wonder Woman wanting to give Babs one great night out that she can remember in her dark times once she is crippled by the joker. Zatanna is seemingly an oracle that can see pieces of the future but if she tries to stop any of it from happening it makes it hundreds of times worse.

Its really quite emotional and the last panel or two of Babs in the chair made me quite misty. Babs is now Oracle and she tells someone on the other end of the comms that she was having her favourite dream "I was dancing...I was beautiful....I was dancing"

:(

Of course the new 52 happened and let her walk again so its kind of moot.

Cliff Chiang is on art and does a wonderful job as usual.

Lovely little one shot for those of you who like the same kind of stories as me.

Glad you got to reading that issue. That brave and bold run was really great. Lots of good pairings and stories. Some of JMSs strongest work in comics. The tale was very well done

I think today will be the day I retire Selina and pick something new...

Aww, bummer. I hope it's going to be another Mignola avatar, at least!

I just caught up on The Flash, OMG at the end!
GRODD!
The Flash > Arrow in terms of how it's handling it's first season. I'm looking forward to each episode more than anything else I watch on TV.

Hmm. Maybe I should try watching this again. I only saw the pilot and didn't care for it (the cheesy CW acting/writing was too much). I kinda wanted to watch some TV tonight though but I ran out of Constantine episodes, so I think I'll give Flash another shot.

you guys should get the hardcover/trade of that series, Team Ups Brave and the Bold by JMS. That issue is included along with a lot of other good one and dones.

Sorry if you already wrote about this, but what did you think about Constantine? I watched the leaked pilot and thought it was decent enough, but I heard they reworked things quite a bit...

This sounds awesome... thanks for pointing it out. I will need to read this alone in my room so my roommates don't see me shedding manly tears.

I've really enjoyed it! It's kind of like a combination of a typical police procedural show and Doctor Who. I've always been a fan of police procedurals and I obviously like comics, so I find it really enjoyable. The guy who plays Constantine puts in some really solid acting and the writing is pretty good. It's not going to be winning any Emmys, but it's some good entertainment and I definitely plan to keep watching it.
The pilot was probably the best episode of the three (but the others weren't far behind), so it's pretty safe to judge whether or not you want to watch more of it based on how much you liked that.

Speaking of JMS, have any of you read Silver Surfer: Requiem? What an absolutely beautiful story. It's basically the story of Silver Surfer's death.
It starts off with SS going to the Fantastic Four and asking Reed for help. There's a scene where they're talking about how Sue is always crying, and it's the type of sadness where the tears are just rolling down your face, and I swear to God I got so emotional at that point. It moves on to SS helping Spidey, which then leads to MJ getting the Power Cosmic for a short while. While trying to decide what he can do to spread some good in the world with his few last days, Spidey gives him the idea to spread the Power Cosmic to everyone for a few minutes. Next few chapters are SS returning to his home planet, reuniting with his love, and eventually dying. Galactus is in the last chapter, and pays his respect to his former herald. Nice to see a different side of him :P
Just spectacular, couldn't put it down while I was reading it over the weekend.

I just looked this up. JMS = J Michael Straczynski? As in the JMS that wrote Babylon 5?! I didn't know he wrote comics.
Yup. He had a lengthy spiderman run that many liked. My personal favorite run was his Thor. Rising stars was his first big splash, it started strong but became a train wreck. Midnight nation was a good mini but seemed very influenced by Gaimans never where book. His brave and the bold stories were really good. Avoid his Superman grounded book. It's absolute trash

but he also did Superman Grounded....

I will definitely look up his Thor run then, and the Brave and the Bold stories. Babylon 5 is one of my favourite tv shows.

The main downside to his Thor run was that he didn't really complete it, he left because of Siege, so Kieron Gillen wrote an end-cap arc to finish JMS' story. With that in mind i'd recommend reading it on MU if possible so you can also read Gillen's ending, but the JMS stuff is the worthwhile issues.

HAHAHAHA Walking Dead was amazing.
Carl finally growing some balls and killing those assholes and then pretending to be all shaken up and shit. He enjoyed it
.

Is that the dude from Spartacus? he looks like the dude from Spartacus.

Yeah, he was Varro.

IMDB tells me yes... was he good in that? The only things I've seen him in were Jack Reacher and Die Hard 86, so maybe he's talented and I've only seen him in trash films.

He's decent in it though I think most of the love he got from that was from the Spatacus/Varro bromance.

He was alright...just alright. He was also Bruce Willis's son in that shitty die hard film.

CW still has some shitty shows, but then they also have awesome stuff like The 100.
Jane the Virgin is fantastic and the network will have iZombie next year by Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars) so it's going to have a mostly fantastic lineup.

Also I don't know why it matters that Supergirl is on CBS when it's the same people from Arrow/Flash and will have a huge budget.

I always wanted to buy that but I never did because of JMS...maybe someday

That karaoke finisher is honestly perfect cartooning. I could look at it forever.

That issue of Brave and the Bold is p dumb "wow I see something really awful is gonna happen to you. BUT can't fix it because lol continuity so I won't bother trying"

Watched Constantine episode 1 on demand, decent show, I liked the lead acting more than in Arrow. Biggest gripe was how they handled the Astra stuff, just a failure in general to put that material into the story, it could have made for a great scene but instead they just flashed some chopped up bits early and then blurted out the context towards the end.

That's the one where he pretends to be an American soldier and starts shooting a ton of people, yea?

all that guy's DC comics work was real bad

Its just the most preachy, insipid moralizing polemic disguised as pop entertainment. Like whoa...fits right in with all the shit he did with Superman Grounded

"lol fuck them guys over there, they got to look out for themselves breh"

Superman: Grounded and Earth One, two of the most boring and pointless Superman stories ever farted out onto paper.

This was great because it was like... "this one page of All Star Superman? pretty dang great! how can i make it insufferable?"
