Chevy vs. Ford. I like cars from both makes(though I'd be super hesitant to buy a Chevy now, with all those recent recalls), but I've always been a Ford guy first and foremost.

Yugi vs. Kaiba

I actually think the Anime handled this way better than the original manga, because in that version, Kaiba wasn't just a anti-hero, he was a straight up psychopath originally and a lot of shit he pulled was pretty heinous, so it was weird when he was so easily forgiven, probably due to his popularity. In the Anime, they turned him into a bit more level-headed and reduced his villainy (since it skips all the Death-T stuff), which I think made it more realistic when he became a "good guy", of sorts.

Actually, it bothers me how in a lot of manga/anime when characters are so easily forgiven because they're popular, and allowed to switch sides. Vegeta is a pretty problematic example, since he killed a ton of people for fun but by the end was allowed to live a peaceful, married life without ever answering for it seriously. I mean, seeing a villain turn good is a element I really like, but I feel they never really bring up the moral implications of it.

What's this chart trying to show?
That Federer has won more/earned more?
Not sure what the circles and numbers on the top represent.

That chart shows to me that Nadal has owned Federer in a head to head, which is the basis of my definition of rivalry. Thats what it shows.

Peanut Butter vs. Jelly.
Why can't those two just get along? They would go so well together if only they tried. But I guess we'll never know.

Ash Ketchum vs Gary Oak.

The Diamond and Pearl Series actually had a pretty good one with Ash vs. Paul, because they were both on the same level...so it wasn't as one-sided.

The first episode, Paul's set up like a newbie, so when he beats Ash, everyone thought it was the usual "reset bullshit". Then it's revealed Paul's been through all the regions like Ash has, and has like countless other, fully-evolved Pokemon that can kick ass. The fights between the two are probably the best ones in the whole show, although I guess that's not saying much, they got pretty much as classic Shonen as Pokemon ever got.

Where does it say that?
Or is that what the unlabeled numbers at the top are?

Anyway, I would say that a rivalry is about who does the best overall, not just against each other.
If someone is 4/1 against a person, but championships at 5/15, I'd say the other person came out on top.

Either way, I'm sure the extra $15,000,000 helps him sleep at night.

Is Gary still in newer Pokemon seasons? Is he master of the universe now?

Nope.

Ash beat him the Johto League, back in early 2000, and after that he retired and became a scientist like his grandfather.

Then, after the Battle Frontier-Hoenn season, he appears once more, and kicks Ash's ass with an Electivire just to show he's still got it. Then during Diamond and Pearl, he appears during a few filler episodes, and later helps fight Team Galactic (the arc villains), but is still mainly a researcher.

That aired in 2009/2010 (JP/US), and since then, all he had was one cameo in a flashback.
