You're misreading my post. They didn't make the show for Sonic characters. They made a show with generic characters/situations and gave it a Sonic coat of paint. Without a base to juxtapose the wackiness to the use of the IP feels misplaced. The specialness of it being related to Sonic is completely lost. Similar to how the games don't play anything like a Sonic game yet use the Sonic IP. They could have just made a new IP.

I mostly agree buuuuuuuuuut feel at the very least Eggman and his robot lackeys in the episodes I saw were spot-on. Maybe a bit too much of a bumbler, but still able to pull one up on Sonic while cracking some legit amusing jokes.
Everything else as you said could've been swapped out for any different IP though.

I dunno. Eggman is easily the best part of the show, but as you said they made him more of a bumbler and his evil plans are stuff like "Pretend to be homeless so that Sonic and Tails will agree to let him be their roommate so that he can exhaust them by having pillowfights." None of the characters really have any motivations. "Hi, I'm your evil villain that has no established reason in this universe for being a villain but I have tried to kill you. Mind if I sleep over at your house?" "Sure."

It's supposed to be a comedy, first and foremost. The writers have said as much. So as much of a cop-out as this sounds, it doesn't have to "make sense".

I kinda feel sad for the developers. I always appreciate ambition and they had a lot of it. TV series, cryengine, new designs, new gameplay. Everything was a really huge gamble and now they sit at their homes and watch the internet shitting on their work. They should have asked Nintendo for support during development.

Do you really thing Nintendo paid money for these exclusivity? Perhaps Nintendo lowered the license cost for Sega when selling these games. I think after all the bombed Sonic games in the past ten years Sega asked Nintendo for a little favor when Sonic stays exclusive on Nintendo consoles.

Um... no. Sonic games have been hugely profitable for Sega, always. We're talking million sellers here. Even Sonic 06 sold well. Sonic titles on Nintendo hardware have especially sold extremely well, outselling Sonic releases on competing hardware by a large margin, consistently. If anything, it was the opposite. Nintendo probably signed Sega for exclusive deals to make the WiiU seem more attractive.
