Dragon Age: Inquisition Review Thread

The game seems to use the same protection as FIFA 15 and Lords of the Fallen though, those haven't been cracked yet.

I sure hope not. I've yet to get LotF myself, but I've heard quite a lot of negative stuff about the denuvo DRM.

The fact remains that the game will be cracked in due time. DRM is worse for consumers than it is for pirates.

Proof on that?

Fun fact: A lot of LotF community thinks that this particular DRM is reason why game is unstable garbage on PC.

I don't have proof, I don't really dig too deep on this kind of stuff, but there's a bit of conversation going on about it on a forum that usually gets this stuff early.

I didn't mean to sound 100% sure when I wrote that post, so I'm sorry if I did. Just wanted to say that the files are out but there's no crack out yet.

Also, people speculate that that DRM can cause performance issues but that's it, speculation, and FIFA 15 doesn't really have any problems as far as I can tell.

One day publishers will come to realization that treating your consumers as if they were out to steal from you is not the best option.

Look at CDPR and their Witcher games, no DRM at all, every piece of DLC is free, support the game for a long time by releasing free enhanced editions upgrades of the game. They still sell millions of copies of their games and keep their fan base happy.

I doubt it'll happen for a very long time, if ever unfortunately :/

Even more "basic" encryption than Denuvo can keep cracks from happening pre-release even if preload data is out there. It's not uncommon for scene to put preload data out there when it comes available and then release crack post-launch.

4 days until release and still no OT? Weird :)

New OT rules.

New OT rules, have to post them on release date, some have been trying to stretch this date by posting a day early and probably have not gotten punished for it (with a temp lock) so I hear people are going to continue to push this boundary even further. If I was Shinobi I would just wait and post it on the date the mods want the OTs on. He plans to post it on Sunday iirc.

A lot of the community are idiots.

The game crashes on PS4, and also has issues there. Unless they are using this DRM on PS4, then issues are with the game code, not the DRM.

I'm all for anything that fucks over pirates, so long as it is transparent to me.

I just got an email in Spanish telling me to preload my game (bought via vpn), this makes me nervous that my game will end up in spanish :/

Those receipts are always in Spanish when ordering from promised land of viva la revolution. Game has always been in Eng.

I'm not against DRM as long it doesn't fuck legit consumer into ass, but too often legit user has more issues with DRMs than pirates which is fucking sad.

In the preload files in my origin folder the EULA says it is using Denuvo. If anyone knows of a more concrete way to check for it, please let me know and I'll poke around the files.

Do we know how many skill points you will have to spend? How many trees will you be able to complete per character? - *In SP of course

General end level we've been seeing from reviewers has been low 20s, like 23-25. So that's one ability point per level and most base trees have between 12-14 options, including upgrades, with then the Specialization trees all seeming to have 11 options, including upgrades. So really you'll have just enough to fully develop 2 trees or a good portion of 3 if one is a specialization.

I don't know if there are Books in DAI like there were in DAO and DA2 which could provide you with an extra ability point or attribute increases, which could help on that front.

You are right, here quote from EULA;

Technical Protection Measures. The PC version of this Software uses Origin Online Activation and Sony DADC Austria AG’s Denuvo content protection technology...

I got the same thing, also a Spanish email when I ordered it. However, while it's still downloading for me (at about 650Kb/s... I don't know why it's so slow, usually it's a lot faster) the files under \Dragon Age Inquisition\Support are en_US versions, so it should be fine. I think with most games Origin will just use whatever language you have the client set to, unless you bought it from a region where it's region locked such as Russia tends to be.

Nice! Just starting to wonder if there might be some sweet synergies to be had between some of the skills across trees but didn't want to get my hopes up if it wasn't possible :D

So does that mean I'm required to be online to play the single player? Cwap if so :(

I hear it require a key from the internet to start the game or something.

More often than not? Since when? If it was 2007 I'd agree with you, but it's different days now.

No you don't need to be online to play SP.

I mean because of Denuvo (PC).

Right now I'm fine with having internet but sometimes my internet goes into a maintenance phase or sometimes for some reason storms screw up my ISP for a bit. I have had to depend on my games that don't require internet. I even made a separate category for games that require internet and games that don't on steam.

Huh.

Still going for the PC version cause it's quite a lot cheaper than the PS4 one, but I sure hope this won't be a problem.

Wow, a consumer who supports DRM? No I've seen it all

Can't wait to start this. Feels like forever since I sank my teeth into a long, engrossing RPG (since I marathoned Persona 4 Golden actually!).

Now I really regret suggesting to my girlfriend that I'd like it as a Christmas present.

Gonna be a long 5 weeks. :(

GTA V on PC will also use Denuvo DRM..

Rockstar will use new DRM system in GTA 5 for PC. This system is Denuvo, which also used in FIFA 15 and Lords of the Fallen.
This System uses special code which changes every time, so this DRM is still not hacked, and I think it won’t be.
No more piracy on PC and only way you can play GTA 5 is Steam.

Got this info today. Also today Denuvo updated partners on their site. Rockstar now here too. So it’s confirmed.

if it block mods, I will be very pissed off

I'm definitely not pre-ordering DAI on PC. Will wait to see how it comes up

Well, there it is.

Yes it did, that's why I think it might be a LotF problem and not really the DRM.

Yep.

So does that mean I'm required to be online to play the single player? Cwap if so :(

I hear it require a key from the internet to start the game or something.

Nope. Only need ot be online for activation, then you're golden.

Shit, I hadn't thought of that.

Is this going to be a problem, GAF?

Nope. It'll be in english.

Huh.

Wow, a consumer who supports DRM? No I've seen it all

Piracy has fucked my favorite gaming platform up the ass since time immemorial. Kind of despise it and the cheap jack-holes who participate in it.

So yeah, I'm all for DRM, so long as it doesn't interfere with me as a payign customer in ANY meaningful way.

I'm not sure why anyone would think otherwise... If the game runs fine, performas well and doesn't require you to be online 24/7 while playing it, why would you care?

Thanks. Reinforces my decision to go with the console version (after reviews and a small price cut.)

Hope this is not too off topic, but there's no official Origin topic AFAIK

I'm considering playing Dragon Age 2 in preparation for Inquisition

How long is that game? is there any must-have DLC?

Its 7 pounds on GAME

How does the DRM on origin work? It shows me prices in euro, will I have any problems if I buy the code from GAME?
