This season is gonna be interesting if you really love or really hate 02.
They've been around for a LONG time. They were originally made up of elitists (who had quite the ego) from the Pojo forums, and fans considered them like gods because they knew some Japanese to translate a bit of stuff like TCG :/ I went there fir a short bit once people started leaving Pojo, and I didn't like it (I think it had a different name too bad then).
Ah yes, back to the beginning of the fandom... I miss that Pojo forum! So many memories...
I imagine it will be the usual for Digimon if this is their next big Digimon series. So 48 min, 50 - 54 max (if they want it to reach Adventure/Zero Two levels)
I only wanted them to retcon the ending of 02, not the whole of 02.
I'm hoping they have still done that and that 02 kids are in it but just won't get the spot light much.
We'll see whenever Toei decides to grace us with more info.

Can't remember a single thing from the first series but man i'm fucking hyped.
Do you have an American Netflix account? If so, go catch up, NOW! (Preferrably in Japanese so the new show will make a bit more sense and won't be as drastic a jump in voices/dialog/etc)
I don't want them to retcon all of 02, and I don't think they will, cause I am pretty sure it was the most popular Digimon season.
02 had some good ideas, but was mostly brought down due to the wrong cast to project those ideas on.

In other news, I am rewatching Adventure/02 in Japanese now. I've watched select sections of Adventure in Japanese (and first ep of 02), mainly some sections with Vamdemon (such as Angewomons evolution and the return of Angemon) plus I've played the PSP game so I figured, might as well watch the whole series in Japanese.
From what I've seen/heard/etc, I like both versions though it also highlights some of my issues with the dub such as having to talk in every scene that didn't previously have voices in them. And the whole "Can't mention death" thing (ie pumpkinmon and Gotsumon) despite the fact that Wizardmon not only got killed but they never tried to hide that.
But yeah, still enjoy the dub version though but I'm enjoying what I've seen of the JP version

Actually, I find it was only a dropped storyline in the dub. The dub script in 02 was probably one of the worst in anime that I can recall (besides the atrocious Digimon: The movie). The whole Dark Ocean was made MORE relevant in the original version. Dagomon was never really meant to be a plotline (THANKS DUB NARRATOR GUY!!) but just a call out to Lovecraftian lore. The Dark Ocean itself was talked about a lot more in the sub, rather than just little snippits here and there in the dub.
I just rewatched 02 on Netflix and with most of the dub dialog still in my mind, geeze it was quite a difference :/
I don't think Tamers' script was done by Nimoy *shudders*. Actually I recall reading how Steve Blum also had some 02 dub script involvement :/

The Tamers writers should have been the breakout stars. Hell, Steve should have realised he had a handle of the whole writing thing and dropped the mic! No way he was going to top doing Guilmon, Kenta and HYPNOS-dude-whose-name-I-forget in the same show.

I still say, one of the more stupid things they did was connect Tamers to Adventure by acting like it was a TV Show in their Universe. AFAIK, that wasn't in the Japanese version.
That said, Tamers had Renamon, Guardromon (in a good guys role) and iirc, it had all four sovereigns rather than just Azulongmon like 02 had. All stuff I liked
Kinda wish they expanded more on the Sovereigns in 02 and showed them all but ah well.
Also, think I mentioned this before but where the hell did the device that holds the eggs come from? Remember reading it on the wikia and it said they were earth devices that the Sovereigns didn't expect them to have but then I remember seeing the new kids get theirs from the eggs/Digivices themselves via flash of light thing.
That + Gennai just becoming Young again still confuse me. Seemed so random and unexplained/out of place.

This might answer a good number of questions. Another throwback to my Digimon forum days (as the guy that made this site was a regular there) and often we were plagued by what were known as "Questions of Doom" since the SAME questions were made over and over (THANKS DUB!! ...well, for the most part.)

In 02, while everyone was in middle school, Joe was writing High School entrance exams. He is the same age as the other older kids though. This was in the Japanese version.
In the English dub, the older kids were in High school and Joe was preparing to go to college.
