Now hookup TK/Kari or Tai/Sora and I can die a happy man #stillsalty

Also, bring back the cheesy ass songs.

I know a guy who never got in to Tamers because he wanted another continuation of the Adventure story and he couldn't handle the idea that the first two series never happened in Tamers as a kid. I wouldn't be surprised if such sentiments are common among kids from that era.

When I was a kid I was like "Cards through the digivices? FUCK YEAH!"

I remember tamers being my first exposure to the concept that a fictional show could itself exist inside a fictional show

I will tell you that Tamers is the only Digimon season where I genuinely like all the lead cast, and feel that each character has considerable growth and useful-ness through out the show.

It also features my fav human/Digimon partners in these two:

No 02 characters?!

NO VEEMON?! (EDIT: Which is even worse than no Guilmon)

Fuck it, I'm out! * Throws up hands, walks off*
Eh, we don't know for sure if they're being written out or not. It might just be they're not going to play a huge role.
You're a monster. Joe's been after Mimi for years.

YEARS. And Mimi needs someone who's grounded.

I'd be cool with them but I prefer Matt/Mimi. They would be such hilarious opposites.

We don't need everyone to be with someone do we?

The only ones that matter are Taichi/Sora and Takeru/Hikari.

The rest doesn't matter much.
Also what about Michael and Mimi? Michael had Seadramon... that was awesome.

02 introducing worldwide chosen children was and is the worst decision in Digimon history

It's only really bad because season 1 had already established that the original 8 were chosen because they were scanned during the time they all saw Greymon vs Parrotmon.

That was all covered in that flashback episode after Tai and Matt got done fighting.

These guys who originally chose the 8 children were pretty much gone apart from Gennai yet they could choose new children during the situations with Myotismon and Diaboromon. (the former of which, the digital world wasn't exactly doing great which is what led to the Dark Masters arc).

Regardless, I still liked
Someone having a Seadramon partner, he was one of my favourites who wasn't part of the core group

Honestly I just want Ryo to be unacknowledged. Fucking video game character has no place in an anime that doesn't have connections save for the first two.

I couldn't stand either of those, I barely managed to tolerate 4 at the time, but anything after that is borderline unwatchable in my opinion.

Too hotblooded for you? :P

Hilariously enough I never really enjoyed Tamers.

I dunno, I liked the whole thing about the Diaboromon fight creating new Digidestined. Though that's mostly just because I won't hear a bad word against Our War Game.

Hey guys I've been out of it for a while. Has Joshua Seth been confirmed to return yet? New teaser looks cool. Click dat egg.

Yeah but they never really established how that could happen. They established how with the original 8 but that's it. Yolei was because of the movie and Cody/Davis was because of the Myotismon invasion.

But there was none around (at least in Myotismons case) to make them Digidestined like Gennai and his people were for the original 8.

Makes the whole "Yeah, we were watching you guys and chose you because of this time blah blah" seem insignificant or pointless really when just seeing a Digimon is enough to make you a Digidestined

TK & Kari better get together.. all i care.

I don't remember much about Digimon(I was like 10/11 when I last watched it lol), and I had to look up the characters to remember their faces, but I explicitly remember being real salty when this didn't happen back in the day, mostly because it lost me a huge bet.

That's why I'm still waiting for domestic sets to come out :/ There's already streams and dub versions on home video. I'm still hoping that ONE day, the uncut version will show up here (at domestic prices...)

That was a great movie indeed.

Hosoda was awesome before anyone knew who he was :) Plus dat original OST. I didn't know Bolero was a sort of classical classic music piece. My ears pick up if I hear it in other places. I love it :) The Konran themes are awesome too. It's all compiled on the Diablomon's Counter Attack OST if you can find it. One of the BEST OSTs I've ever heard :)

I am always saddened by the passing of the legend Takanori Arisawa. His work as the composer of the series will forever be cherished.

You can argue many things about the first four seasons, but their OST is forever legendary status.

So I saw the V-jump scans, doesn't appear full details have leaked yet but the only thing new in terms of images is now they've added the silhouettes of the Digimon.

Tentomon is way smaller than I remember. (Then again this is a different art style....)

I can't find a good picture with all the Digimon side-by-side and Koushirou/Izzy's short compared to the others so it's hard to tell.

All the Digimon look small now though. It reminds me of when I found out Charizard was only 6ft tall.

I don't get thehate for S2.

It also had the best music in the dub

And I dont get the seemingly near-universal obsession with shipping every time I glance in this thread. My only childhood memory of disappointment with the show is being sad that we didn't see the megas of every main digimon.

there's a good decade or more since I've been a digimon fan though. I guess it takes strong emotional investment of some kind to maintain active fandom.

i wonder if there's a place i can re-watch tamers.... that one might hold up.

The epilogue and odd coupling of characters is the least of 02's problems.

What made the first season for me, is the children's relationships with one another and their "real-world problems". Divorce, adoption, living up to parent's expectations, etc.

02 barely had any of what made the original Adventure special. They go in and out of the Digital World as they please and never really grow as characters (with exception of Ken of course).

Here are my full thoughts on the issue:
Adventure 02 is worth watching. Concepts like DNA-digivolving and human villains are awesome. There is a more morally grey aspect to this season which I enjoyed.
Really, the reason I rage about it so much is that it had the chance to be amazing. I had fond memories of it and was pretty excited coming off the heels of Adventure to rewatch it.

So with that in mind, I present to you the list of bad things in 02:
- Dark Ocean... (Thought I'd get this out of the way.)
- Daisuke is a hot head like Tai, but unlike Tai, never changes. He is always right and when he's not, there is no consequences.
Notice he never has a problem with digivolving, unlike other lead characters in other seasons.
- Miyako is a Mary Sue to Daisuke's Gary Stu. Never learns anything.
- Iori, despite having character development, is the most boring character.
- Miyako should have received the Knowledge Digimental and Iori, Sincerity. Makes a lot more sense for both characters.
- Hikari and Takeru are background. Their involvement lessens as time goes on.
(As Daisuke's interest in Hikari lessens.)
- Ken has way too much time dedicated to his character.
- Blackwargreymon, as cool as he is, is inconsequential to the plot.
- The destiny stone arc is a repeat every episode and means nothing.
- The world tour also *gasp* goes nowhere.
- A ton of other people having Digimon ruins the magic of it.
- Hey, Demon's pretty cool- oh.
- The kids barely have a relationship with each other.
I mean this as in there is no real development between characters. (With exception of Ken and Daisuke.)
When the whole point of DNA digivolving is the relationship between two people, you think this would be pretty important.
- The kids barely have a relationship with their families. (Except Ken and maybe Iori.)
- I'm a little over hating Shakkoumon, but still... Iori and Takeru got shafted.
(Speaking of Takeru, he became a Law-aligned psychopath. Wonder how he plays Shin Megami Tensei games...)
- The girls' "visions" at the end are extremely superficial. It completely takes any good will towards Miyako away.
- Let's not mention the epilogue... I think enough has been said.
-
Bringing back Vamdemon weakened the ending and impact of previously morally grey villains.

Sorry everyone, had to get it off my chest. >.>

Can you elaborate on the takeru law-aligned psychopath point? It's been a while for me.

I'm being a little hyperbolic with that. :P

02 Takeru has this odd character flaw that is never fully explored. He basically becomes enraged when people or Digimon do evil things (an odd contrast to his pacifist younger self). He beats up evil Ken at one point (which is arguably one of the greatest things in Digimon I have ever seen). He also somewhat hates Blackwargreymon.

It's sort of dropped after Shakkoumon shows up.

Edit: I found this on youtube for those who don't remember what I'm talking about. Dub first then sub. I love when Takeru catches the whip, so ridiculous.

Agreed 100%

Also almost all of their adult designs were shit
The worst part about their adult designs is that almost all their character was lost and they look like generic adults. Maybe it was a product of the style they used but damn I hated it.

Not even the digidestined could forestall time.

At that point, does anyone think Leomon is going to show up in this series? I've always thought he was cool, but honestly he's the digital world's number one jobber. For being the guardian of digimon worldwide Ive never seen a digimon get rocked across seasons like him.

I should really rewatch the series in Japanese with Eng subs.

He's the Gohan of Digimon.
