So I have about 10 combined hours in DA:O and DA2. I think the new OT should have a section that addresses the Keep.

Should I just go with the Default World State or why I mess around in the keep to see the maximum amount of characters and situations I can?

Even without the context, seeing those situations seems better than a potential default world state that removes certain characters.

I live in the Netherlands, and it says I can only start preloading on 17 November. However, if you know how to use VPN software, you can log into an american VPN, start origin, start the preload, and then disconnect from the VPN. You will download the game at your normal speed this way. Worked perfectly for me.

Eh... I think I'll just wait for it to come out. Thanks for the info!

you could always get more background for the game from the 1st page of the lore thread, which has the OP and several links to videos that go more in depth in the universe.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=931900

then the OT will have a summary of the plots of DAO and DAII. As to the keep I'd recommend filling it out alongside the wordpress link people have that helps out with more explanation as to what every decision means/entails. Just because the default world state is apparently pretty depressing.

How they handled the lowering of the image quality really is odd. It surprising how much quality they gave up in the character models.

So I've never played a DA game all the way through, but I'm really interested in this one. The world looks absolutely amazing. My question is, will I be missing out on a ton of story references or whatever if I skip 1 and 2 and go straight into this one? Normally, I would never do that, but the previous games are fairly long from what I've gathered, and I'm not sure if I want to play them. I tried DA:O shortly after it came out, but I was using a crappy computer at the time and it didn't run very well, and I wasn't getting into it. I suppose I could try it again, but not sure if I want to devote the time. Anyways, how much would it ruin my experience to go straight into DA:I? Or do we know yet?

I put in over 100 hrs into DA:O on ps3 (i know, right!)

Were the choices there never uploaded to dragonkeep ir whatever? I dont remember if there was an upload component to that game

No upload component. Not for decisions or appearance, at least. All it uploaded was some stats, your portrait (they let you use it as an avatar on their forum), and some other miscellaneous accomplishments.

Was there a PC performance thread somewhere for this already? I swear I saw it and now it has vanished. Looking to see how SLI support is for anyone who has had a chance to test it during reviews.

It's all generic fantasy, an the games are all pretty unrelated. Just take a look at the Kotaku piece, and you'll be fine.

It has story threads that lead into the game, but its a self-contained story.

The big suggestion for you is to go to dragonagekeep.com and watch the narrated retelling of the first two games' stories.

Difficult to say if it's worth it for you, not having played the previous games. I've played both, so wanted very specific outcomes and I thought the Keep was fab. The way the default is set up is to kind of be as minimal as possible, so new players won't see characters returning from prior games who they don't know etc. Since you've read through the storylines, though, I think it could be fun for to have a bit of a play, change things around even if it's only a few bits - then you can decide which looks more interesting when the game comes out. Also, Varric's narration of the story so far is quite good :)
did just that, really good actually, great forward thinking by the developer and was actually quite good fun to go through it. Thanks for the info bud.

are those the dwarven princes/leaders from DAO? If so I remember choosing the more progressive one, or whichever one was the nicest one, and in the end credits it said something like
"that punk ass got killed like soon after"

I chose Harrowmount in one, Bhelen in the other. House Brosca probably isn't even going to be referenced, but I know it's there, at least.

So what's the OT title going to be? I'm guessing Dragon Age Inquisition |OT| Escape from Shit Mountain

Ha...Ive never been a fan of the whole "Shit Mountain" meme. The game really wasn't as bad as the GAF hyperbole made it out to be. I actually really enjoyed DAII, in spite of the repeated assets and desperate "we're extreme" marketing EA went for.

I replayed DAII recently in my PC. Despite the repetitive maps it isn't a half bad game. Sarcastic Hawke and Varric discussions probably makes it better though. The characters I cared about were pretty great. The change in art style though was blech.

Still agreed. Only reason I didn't finish act 3 is because I messed around with the game with the console commands and got this weird world state I couldn't undo lol

Hey Dawg, how did the PC version run? Was it smooth or did frame rates jump alot? Did the game allow for triple buffering or any .ini changes for stuff beyond the in game menu?

Okay I just finished Origins. My question is should I jump into DA:2 before Inquisition?

I'd suggest doing awakening if you enjoyed origins, otherwise, look up stuff about years 9:31-9:40 on the dragon age wiki. You will enjoy that (and get background on book stuff) much more than playing DA2

Play anything else than Sarcastic and Hawke is suddenly contradicting himself/herself all the time. Play an agressive Blood Mage and Hawke will yell that s/he will kill people for using teh horrible Blood Magic, yelling at people for helping mages and so on. Nothing a "evil" mage would ever do. You can't actually roleplay someone
supporting Anders
for example, without running into dialogue that goes against it multiple times.

But play on easy with sarcastic Hawke and focus on the companions and it will be an okay game. I just don't see how it can be considered a good game when nothing else works well.

If you don't play a lot of rpgs it's hard to tell. If you enjoyed the characters and the interaction with them from the mass effect series you may like this one, but this series can be noticeably harder than Mass Effect. Both of them have something in common though and it's that you can pause the action and issue orders.

Honestly I'd say do some research, watch some previews of the game see if it looks like something you could get into

I'd say DA2 is more important than DA:O in regards to Inquisition.
Takes about 16 hours on easy mode doing main quest and companion quests. If you're in UK you should have plenty of time to play it before Inquisition's release.
And outside of repeated environments and no tactical camera, it's not a bad game like everyone says it is; it's just hyperbole.

I was going to get Dragon Age Inquisition on PC but it's been pulled from origin India and pre-orders are being refunded. Physical copies wont be stocked as-well.
Apparently Its being banned in India for homosexuality.

Don't know the fate of console versions, its still for preorder on the PS4.

Can you use a VPN to make it think you live somewhere else and get another Origin store? Many have bought from the Mexican origin store because it's cheaper than the US.

I could try that but isn't that a bannable offense? Right now I'm thinking of getting the PS4 version and if that gets pulled as-well I'll order a disk from Play-Asia.

Seriously? Didn't think India was like that.

No, people have used it for several games now. BF4, Titanfall, Sims 4 and now DAI and no banning or anything like that has occurred. I think EA even responded saying they aren't going to do anything about it. Rumors that they'll lock out your account from buying other games are out there, but that's it, you'd still have access to all your games, but again just a rumor don't think there's been any solid evidence of it.

Or you know, different opinions...
I don't have any problems at all with the repetition of locations and such. I still think the game fails horribly and is okay at best. It's an opinion, not hyperbole.

I do think it's worth playing if one is very interested in Inquisition. The characters are sometimes lovely and very fun. But I will never call the game good.

Hey, Dawg, I really loved sarcastic Hawke in Dragon Age 2, but from what I've seen of the dialogue options for the Inquisitor, there isn't anything similiar to that. Granted, most of what I've seen is in the beginning and there's really no time for jokes there anyways.

Does the inquisitor get any dialogue options similar to what sarcastic Hawke had?

Yes, it's disheartening when the govt. tires to control what you can and cannot view/play. but Indian people are very sensitive :-D. Fallout 3 was banned because it had mutated cows or something along similar lines.

Really? Awesome! I'll make a new account just to be safe.
