Dragon Age: Inquisition Review Thread

I PM'd you the link, but at this point I'd suggest we stop talking about it because eventually somebody will want to discuss it in one of these threads and that'll cause people to not come back out of fear.

Sounds dark enough.

But yeah, I don't want to be spoiled in any way. I know nothing about the game, except that it is ( supposedly ) very good.

Not a bother man :) They're not overpowered. They're fairly low level so I'm sure people won't be using them for *too* long. The DLC also comes with a badass armored mount though too:

Ok. Thank you, good sir^^

Im afraid to play this. Never played a DA game but I must try this! I promised to support this product cause they dont support parity!

Im just hoping for a smooth 30fps!
60fps whores stop making jokes about the fact that 30fps isnt smooth

Well given the issues Unity has, I was wondering what to do with my AW trade-in, and it looks like this is it.

Just hope I can find enough time to play it.

But....it's not super smooth

Still not 100% sure on what my first character is going to be.

Probably going with a human "true hero" typep of deal first. Or at least roleplay as someone trying to be one.

The subclasses though. Are they tied to weapon choice? Can my character be a 2 handed weapon using champion or do I have to go with reaver for that?

I love the way they have confident in their game!
It reminds of Last of Us were we saw the reviews a week before the game came out.
I'm going for it for sure!

Good news! The dlc codes aren't console specific, so I can use any card for any system. It has to go to a website to redeem the pin and choose which system you want it for. I currently have 21 codes to give away. Just send me a PM if you'd like one regardless of system.

I'm playing on an Xbox One and haven't noticed any performance issues of significance. Doesn't mean it isn't smoother on a PS4 or that they aren't there, but I can vouch that on X1 it feels like a totally polished product in my eyes.
Really good to know.

I don't think this game will have major technical issues. The engine has gone through its next-gen pains during the BF4 fiasco.

Played the first few hours last night and really enjoyed it. Think i may start over on release as I don't really like the archer being more of an auto aim but just my play style. Having never played the previous games but have loved KOTOR and ME I can see i will enjoy this. Is it worth running through The Keep online to map out the world as far as choices in the previous games go? Anybody done it? Have read through the posts to bring me up to speed regards to story etc of the previous games so thanks for the links folks.

What's this dlc stuff? Does it work for PC?

Ah nevermind, saw your other posts!

Difficult to say if it's worth it for you, not having played the previous games. I've played both, so wanted very specific outcomes and I thought the Keep was fab. The way the default is set up is to kind of be as minimal as possible, so new players won't see characters returning from prior games who they don't know etc. Since you've read through the storylines, though, I think it could be fun for to have a bit of a play, change things around even if it's only a few bits - then you can decide which looks more interesting when the game comes out. Also, Varric's narration of the story so far is quite good :)

It doesn't take very long to just listen to Varric's narration, so I say go for it. The tapestry can take longer, but if you want you can just go in there an take a stab at some of the choices. Say you've heard about Sten and would love a possible cameo (no idea whatsoever if he does have one) then you would make sure he survived. And the Keep doesn't allow for conflicting choices, so you don't have to worry about messing anything up.

While I'm on the subject, I've got three save states in the Keep - my canon, one built with as many differences I could stomach (
different king/queen, Anders decision, Old God Baby
), and one where I hit the YOLO button.

Anyone else hit the YOLO button?

Too bad it didn't come out yesterday so I could have played it while waiting for WoW to get its shit together.

I preordered it on GMG months ago. I wonder if they'll have my key ready on time. The DD upgrade didn't seem worth it, though the halia seemed nice. I figured there would be one I could earn in-game and the process of getting it would feel rewarding. That probably is the case and the DD is just a shortcut.

I think I might do my first digital preorder with this game. I want to play it early and it sounds pretty nice to be able to pre-load and just start playing at 11 my time.

I'm a bit worried about the story/ lore though. I played origins like 3 times but that was so long ago. I didn't ever end up finishing DA2 and now wish I had tried before this came out. Didn't know whether I'd even have a ps4 by now, though, but I do!

If you're worried that you won't be familiar enough with what's going on, I suggest this thread. It's really good for some lore and for links to plot summaries of the first games etc

Mine just says "coming soon". :(

Is preloading just a digital deluxe thing?
Maybe? I just got the Digital Deluxe game and if I mouse over it in My Games there's a pop-up saying pre-load 14th Nov 17:00 (my VPN uses LA time) and release 18th Nov 05:00. So that's 13:00 in the UK (unless I can find a New York based VPN).

Looking forward to jumping into the MP as tank and squishies running ahead of me getting aggro, or using up their potions.

I think I'm going to build my guy to be full defense. Chain pull, HP buffs, whatever I can to get things hitting me and stuff. Should be fun.

I'm going to really take my time with this game, do everything possible.

Me too, I'm planning on going for the Platium trophy if I enjoy the game enough. Plus there's nothing else I'm really interested in playing after Smash comes out, so might as well take my time!

Hope the deluxe DLC Red Hart mount levels with you so I can use it for a long time if I love it. Unless horses are too nice and fitting to not use.

This game REALLY needs Day 1 drivers from Nvidia.

TotalBiscuit;

Performance is shaky. It's mostly fine, but SLI makes the characters heads vanish. Driver support coming.

I had to turn it down to high to maintain 60 on 1 980, so we'll see what the drivers bring.

For reference he has top of the line i7 and SLI-980s.

He also mentions that game starts slow, but pulls you in as you go and how world is filled with a lot things to do. So in general he seems positive about DAI, just weird performance stuff.

I think it would be cool if different mounts had different abilities. Like horses are faster on roads, but halia can climb over more terrain, and some lizard things could carry you across water or something.

Anyone else hit the YOLO button?
I always do whatever the fuck I feel like in WRPGs. Doing what is for the best or being consistent in behavior for sake of sanity and stable relationships is for real life.

Well he is using a model that was just recently released and in SLI mode, which always has more problems.

Would be interesting to know if the issues persist with a single card (disabling SLI).

Well he does say that heads pop back when he disables SLI, but single 980 can't run game on Ultra @ 1080p60.

If you don't also have a save in which you make the most chaotic world state possible you aren't doing it right.

A part of me died when I chose to have Dog killed in my chaotic save.

That's surprising, I was confident I could do 1080p60 on ultra on a single GTX970. Oh well, I have Far Cry 4 to play till Nvidia puts out new drivers.

Making wild assumption that FC 4, ported by Ubisoft Kiev [same as ACU], works better than DAI without Day 1 drivers and pile of client patches :D I expect FC 4 to be very broken port at release and e.g. TB haven't gotten review copy along with many others.

That all said I wouldn't panic about DAI performance as it's AMD game so it has been heavily optimised for anything AMD and less for anything Nvidia. Just wait for Nvidia drivers.

Haha yeah, very true. What a shame it is that nowadays it feels like it's more likely to get a broken PC game rather than a working one on release.

I played and completed both Dragon Age games but I'm not sure how I feel about this one. It looks gorgeous for the most part, especially the faces and instantly dragged me back into the world after years of being out of it. I know many will not agree and maybe I am simply remembering it incorrectly (I'm almost sure I am) but I feel like I enjoyed II's combat more. The thing I realized most with my time with the game is how great it feels to be in a Bioware world once again- it feels like it has been a much larger gap than a few years. The writing is as good as I had been seeing people say and that is refreshing as well, I've missed giving a damn about what is happening to characters on screen. Still sorting it all out in my head but I'm leaning towards this over Far Cry.

Should mention I have run into numerous bugs, more than I ever did in the first four sequences of Unity- but the game still has a patch yet to be deployed and these are not unusual for these games anyway. The most egregious case being my attempt to travel to a new area ending in a black screen with my HUD still active and an odd humming noise taking over anything else coming from my speakers.

I'm still half asleep so i apologize if this makes no sense at all. Does anyone know if my EA access membership carries over to other regions marketplaces?
