Yeah Kill La kill is a whole heap of dumb silly fun. Also give Gurren Lagann a watch if you haven't seen that as it's even better.
Both do a fantastic job in getting you pumped up during the fights.

So, I got my girlfriend to finally go through and watch Avatar/The first season of Korra. She had never seen either show before. I told her that she had to legitimately give Avatar 3 episodes before she gave up on it, and she ended up going through all 3 seasons in about 2 weeks, which is amazing for her. I could tell she really enjoyed it because when she's into a show, she'll pay full attention to it and ask me questions about it. It was cool to see her getting invested in the characters; every single episode where Appa is missing in season 2 she asked me "when is Appa coming back?".

Anyway, I guess the big difference between the two shows is that I just don't care about Korra's cast as much as the one in Avatar's. It was nice seeing Korra reunited with Naga, for example, but it definitely didn't have the punch that Appa's reappearance had. To be fair, it was plot point for a third of the season, but I don't think there's anyway the writers could have gotten me to care about Naga or Pabu like I cared about Appa or Momo.

you know how god of war is just pushing the same two or three buttons in a row over and over and then you fall into a deep sleep and wake up wanting to die because the game isn't over? this lets you equip different weapons to different parts of bayonetta, including her feet, and every button press gives you a different combo. it's complete control over what you do. it's fantastic.

the wind waker hd is also by far the definitive version of that game, fixing almost every issue with the game's pacing. hyrule warriors is a dumb button masher, but it's zelda so that makes it okay.

oh and new super luigi u is excellent. like seriously for reals. no checkpoints and 100 seconds for every level. so all the challenges are compact and tightly designed. real good shit mang.

It looks pretty good and I tried the demo of Bayonetta but it's not my kind of game. I had my fill of action button-mashers with the GOW series. For now I'm going to stick with Mario 3D world and Smash when it releases in a couple weeks.

Yu Jae Myung and Studio Mir hosted a wonderful wrap party for the Korra animation crew last night. Mike and I started working with Jae Myung (the man with the shiny cake sword) on the Avatar pilot in the summer of 2003, then all through the original series, and now on 45 episodes of Korra. We’ve been through a lot together in the last 11 years, so it was nice to celebrate the (fast-approaching) end of another artistic journey together. Thanks to all of the great people at Studio Mir and Studio Reve who work so hard to make Korra come to life on screen! The finish line is so close!

Yeah, they need to get their shit together. I'm wondering if it has to do with our regions. Since he's in Aus. Might cause some complications. But I have no way of knowing. We are going to try it again some other time. I hope we can get it to work for Far Cry or GTA.

EDIT: We can test it out some time Jaded. I'm going to hop back on X1 because I want to beat Morodor before Dragon Age next week. So I'm hustling through that game. But we can try playing COD very soon. And see if invites work.

Yeah that dude is international. I've played with people all over the place in the USA before without problems. Who knows, maybe it's gotten worse since then.
 
Does anyone know the unofficial name of the track that plays when Korrasami are being attack on the train is called? It also plays in some other instances too.

Damn, we got littlebigplanet 3. Seriously. WAY too many fuckin games. I mean jesus. I plan on playing the shit out of Dragon Age which is at least a 60 hour game. And that's not even taking into account GTA, which is massive and has so much shit to do. And then there is Smash. Hoooooly god.

Yeah November is overflowing with great games. It's almost overwhelming the amount of choices we have during November.

I'm gonna jump on this hyperbole train. Mako aint shit and all he is good for is to literally and figuratively kill better characters. Ming Hua, Asami and Korra respectively (arguablely Lin suffered as well from his contrived sideplot in Season 2).
 
It's so amazing how Bolin became the superior brother in every way imaginable. Not that Mako was ever better than Bolin but now the writers clearly are on the Bolin train.

They weren't on the Bolin train last season. They shat on him the entire season. They shat on him during the bird call scene. Then the lava came. And like a magnificent phoenix, Bolin rose from the ashes and became a glorious new character. With lava. And then Varric came to his and yay it was good.

I think it was the opposite. Bolin was the better brother in Book 1 and Mako became the superior brother/character in Book 2 and 3. The writers took the right steps to move Mako in a better direction while they did everything wrong for Bolin and regressed him.

Granted, Mako is still bland personality wise. Also I think Bolin is cool so far this season + the lava bending. So maybe he ends up being better in the long run. But I'm going to say Mako was a better character overall this series so far. As sad as it is to say that.
 
Smash is out this friday? I've been doing nothing but stressin' bills all month long I completely forgot. Holy shit I thought it was out next tuesday or something.

So I rewatched the episode, and I noticed something.

I'm not exactly sure how fast news travels or the timeframe between episodes, but why would there still be wanted posters for Bolin/Varrick at the checkpoint when Bataar already told Kuvira that he was "positive" they blew themselves up?

Or on the other hand, would the fact that they were spotted at a checkpoint quickly make it's way back to Kuvira? I wonder how much people know...

I assume that some time passed, but maybe a day or two at most. Depending on how long it takes to get to republic city from metal city on a flying bison.

And Kuvira might've just been cautious and put wanted posters of them just in case she couldn't trust Junior. Which let's be honest, who would

If by improving his character you mean locking him away and have him doing nothing of value except kill p'li (or is she sparky sparky boom boom girl? ) and giving his scarf away (which was a very legit moment) then maybe. I can't even remember Mako anymore, he's such a 3rd tier character now.

Bolin on the other hand has been handled extremely well this season. No ridiculously groaning jokes, no over the top lines, legitimately funny dialogue (it *really* helps that this is mostly with Varrick) and badass fighting scenes. Bolin seems to finally be coming to his own despite several seasons of being shat on. Him helping the prisoners was really endearing.

^ hence why I fucking hate that he has to join Korra again. I hate how being in the immediate viscinity of Korra makes everybody fucking useless at fighting so her majesty can save everybody

Bolin had a movie douche plot that went on too long and was grating in Book 2. Bolin became mega douche with Opal in a forced relationship no one cared about. He then became an annoying/obnoxious buffoon who literally ruined most of the scenes he was in during Book 3.

Mako on the other hand was given more of a character by being a police officer (the plot was very shallow because they had to whisk him off to be with Team Avatar). But at least Mako was a capable tool that actually did shit and helped out. Him being awkward around Korra and Asami also worked for the character in lightening him up since he's always so intense during Book 3. Makos biggest crime is being bland. But if you compare him being an asshole and moody in Book 1, they've moved in him in the right direction as opposed to Bolin being moved in the wrong direction. Bolin in Book 1 was naive and dumb, but he had a lot of heart. He was a much more sympathetic character. Book 2-3 swapped that out for an obnoxious man child who lost that heart.

To me, the comparison isnt close. You are right that Bolin is better so far in Book 4. But overall so far Mako was the better character.
