Dragon Age: Inquisition Review Thread

After such positive reviews for this game I'm interested now. I watched some game play and I really like the way it looks and plays.

I've been wondering if I should vpn on Monday, I keep saying "nah" but then I see pictures and streams and say "yeah!" So conflicted. Maybe I should just get home late, then do some work around the house, hang out, do family stuff, call people, then bam 11PM CST!

My conflict in doing this is that I managed to Game Over my Last Court game today (didn't realize I couldn't let 2 things get to zero) and apparently it imports and affects...something. It's not much of a conflict though I'll probably get over it...

:(

Really? I know it imports but I heard it has zero effect on your worldstate.

Not at all

Not influence it at all. ME3 multi was great apparently but I refused to play it once ME3 basically told me it was near impossible to get enough galactic readiness without playing it. Such a fuck you to people who didn't want to touch it that they had to fix it later.

Man that's great news.

I liked ME3 MP, but I bet I didn't play it for more than 4 or 5 hours. They shouldn't force people to play it to get something in SP.

Alright, I'm locking in my choice for all to see. Dwarven rogue. I'm not going to let myself stray from that or I'm going to spend hours of indecision on Tuesday. Now, tempest or assassin...

Maybe give Tempest a shot? We know what Assassin plays like, and Tempest seems like the most novel specialty in the game.

Also, glad you enjoyed Legacy. BioWare makes the best SP DLC.

I looked at all the reviews for PC on MetaCritic... got a total of 1599 then divided by 18. which is 88.8333 (repeating of course). Stupid MetaCritic gave it an over all score of 88?! WTF is that! They need to ROUND that S up!

Official FAQ for Last Court states it has zero impact on Inquisition.

Why bother recording decisions, then? The story sure doesn't show any sign of doing anything that seems remotely significant beyond what Inquisition may cover.

I just expected a dialogue line or two.

I'm leaning towards that. I like the idea of playing a dwarf that concocts special brews and wrecks shit in a "drunken" frenzy.

Metacritic doesn't weigh all outlets equally. I assume (but I don't know for sure) that the bigger outlets who review more games carry more weight in the average.

This was most likely it's own thread all together, but what are everyone's thoughts on the Dragon Age Keep?
I liked I was able to change a few things in the story. One thing in particular
was having Alistair and Anora rule Ferelden together. I apparently wasn't able to make it happen because of a small conversation decision with Alistair when you help find his sister.
I thought it was silly something so small wouldn't allow me to make a big change in the story like that... or maybe it isn't a big part of the story...
I hate that I can't import my save files, mainly because I never had my EA/Origin account linked to DA:O or DA2. I had those files sitting on my PC ready to be imported. Yeah, it's okay in the end, I'm able to just remake those decisions in the Keep... but I feel like all those hours wasted on DA2 are now TRULY a waste...

Hmm... Well, I don't think that's actually needed in the game. Might be wrong. Didn't think you needed Alistair hardened to get him to go through with it.

Calling any time spent with Varric a waste is borderline blasphemous.

So yeah, after seeing the Giant Bomb quick look and Rorie's segment on UPF (learning it has multiplayer that looks cool was a big boost) and the reviews I've decided to get this (pre-loading now thanks to a US VPN). I skipped out on 2 after reviews, major asset reuse and a change to the combat (coming from a top down strategy view PC player). Even if this doesn't have the same kind of view I enjoyed in DA1 it still looks cool. I used the website to load up my profile (though I had to change things as it seemed to forget most of my actual DA1 choices...) and made the choices for DA2 as how I would have played them if I played it.

Game looks good though. Much better than how DA2 looked to me.

So I am debating on what to do. I have the game preordered on PS4 (hopefully preload starts tomorrow), but also have an xbone and have the game downloaded via EA access. Should I play the 6 hours or just hold off till Tuesday?

Man I really wanna call in sick on Monday now that I know I can VPN South Korea and start playing at 10am, but I'm too good an employee to do that.

It would be a no brainer for me if I had a Xbone.

At minimum I would probably spend a few hours to get a character to look just right, and then write down the settings so I can create him/her quickly.

If you dont like games and somehow find that laughable, you are probably on the wrong site.

How you got from A to B astounds me.

What is laughable is people who worry if someone gets a bonus or not, or what the latest sales figures for their precious PS4 or Xbox one are.

Funny and sad at the same time.

So I decided to play dragon age 2 before inquisition comes out. I'm gonna play on easy and steamroll it. Is there a guide to what side quests I can skip and which ones I should do?

If I remembered how I did my 45 min run, I would tell you.

I just remember that mage staff auto attack and spec healing destroys the game.

Not part of this conversation but ok.

Yes, wanting a company to be rewarded with a bonus on a good product is sad

Yeah I retract my statement, there were a lot of good things in DA2. Lots of bad things too but yes Varric made it a little more tolerable.

I would suggest doing any marked under the main story and for companions. Journal separates them appropriately. Both main story and companions have their own sections.

Good man. Much respect for being able to not just lump it all together.
