2014 Fantasy Football Advice Thread

I'm in desperate need of a WR, RB, or TE to fill up my flex spot. I had Fred Jackson but had to take him out at the last second when I read that he may not play. My other guys(Harvin, Terence Williams) are on bye. It's a 12 man league so just about every somewhat decent player out there is taken already.

I'm looking at my options and I've narrowed it down to Greg Jennings and Coby Fleener. Jennings because he's been pretty decent the last 3 weeks and they're playing Chicago whose secondary has gotten lit up the past 2 weeks. Fleener just because his QB is Luck and maybe he'll get one of those TD passes.

And advice on which one I should take between the two or do any of you guys have someone else in mind?
Is Alfred Blue still available?

I hate it when people don't respond to trade offers at all for days. Common courtesy is to respond via forum/PM/whatever...

Most of the dunces in my league look at my offer, say "I'll think about it" or something and don't do anything until the trade expires

Who's getting the bigger workload in Tampa Bay? I have both Rainey and Sims, need to start one of them at FLEX.

After much debating I decided to Go with Rueben Randle. He has actually been sitting in my bench for half the season. I finally decided to drop him last week when I had the chance to snatch Terence Williams. But after thinking about it, I think Eli will have a good game against the 49ers and Rueben is due for a decent game at some point. Maybe Beckham gets the top corner or double coverage or something and finally Rueben can capitalize on that and finally put his size to some use. I hope anyways.

As for trades, they're just not possible in my league. Everything gets vetoed the same day it's proposed or the day after. The league I'm in only started last year and is just full of friends. Half of them never cared much for football before they started playing fantasy. But anyways, since it was so new last year nobody tried to go for any trades. Everybody just played with whoever they drafted or could pick up through FA or waivers.

This year since everybody is more experienced and guys have attempted trades. Problem is that everything gets shot down because everybody else is either a hater or they're vetoing just because they can. I've complained about it but the Commish said that he doesn't want to remove vetoes because it would be unfair to guys who already had there trades vetoed. So next year he alone will judge the fairness of the trades because I don't trust any of those motherfuckers again to evaluate how fair a trade is and vote accordingly.

Rainey.

Ouch... this is why trade vetoes should never be on players. I pretty much use the Matthew Berry stance:

I hate it when you veto a trade

I've written about this before but it's among the subjects I feel the most passionate about. No trade should ever be vetoed; only in cases when there is clear and provable collusion between two owners should a trade be overturned. Otherwise, a trade must stand. Always. No matter what.

Part of the fun of fantasy football is that we all have different opinions on players. And no one can predict the future. A Week 1 deal of Calvin Johnson for Jeremy Maclin would have been laughed at, but in Week 10, the Maclin owner is loving life and the Calvin owner is hoping it's not too late to salvage something. So something that seems lopsided to you might not be lopsided in the future. Or seem lopsided to someone else.

It's not your job to manage someone else's team. Everyone should be allowed to manage their own team, even if it's badly. You don't think he got nearly enough for his star quarterback? So what? Not your team, not your quarterback. Again: The person dealing him thought he got a good deal, that's all that matters. Everyone should be allowed to manage their own teams however they see fit. Even if it's not in a way you agree with.

The art of negotiation is a skill. It's part of fantasy football, just like drafting, waiver wire pickups, making starting lineup decisions. It's a skill and part of what you need to be a successful owner. And it should be rewarded, not punished or neutralized.

There's a special level of hell reserved for the people who veto just because it's a deal that didn't involve them or because "it's part of their strategy." That's not strategy, it's being a jerk. Win on the virtual field, not in some technocratic loophole.

Ok with Foster.out I jumped on the Blue train. So now i'm deciding either to play Sprioles or Jennings. Who should I start gaf??

I'm happy to have Jennings back in my lineup. Think San Fran's D, not a team I follow, has like half their starters injured or inactive as well from the start of the season.

Sanchez against Green Bay, or Wilson against the Chiefs?

Sanchez had a great week last week, but can he do it again, and Wilson's been on a downward spiral the last month.

Couple questions:

Donnell vs SF or Reed vs TB?

CJ Anderson @ STL or McKinnon @ Chi?

Willis is out, so Donnell's matchup isn't terrible, but he's really only had one great game all year. Which is one more than Reed, but I really like Reed's talent.

Broncos RB situation is a mess, but Anderson looked good last week and the Rams can't stop the run. McKinnon is clearly the #1 for now, but he never gets touches at the goal line so he never gets in the endzone.

After much debating I decided to Go with Rueben Randle.

I'd seriously reconsider and suggest going with Kelce. Fasano is out and Kelce is gonna get a full workload.

Rashad Jennings

Sanchez against Green Bay, or Wilson against the Chiefs?

Sanchez. I believe in Chip Kelly.

Hmmmm Joique Bell or Carlos Hyde?

Joique easily, even against a really tough Arizona D. Hyde doesn't get enough touches.

Donnell vs SF or Reed vs TB?

CJ Anderson @ STL or McKinnon @ Chi?

Reed for TE, it's close but Tampa sucks. I'd go with CJ at RB for upside, but if you prefer a safe but limited choice go with McKinnon.

Ben Roethlisberger Vs Titans, RG3 vs Tampa Bay or Cam Newton vs Falcons?

Though this is more likely Ben vs RG3 given the fact that Cam is injured and not so good.

QB help please. I have Wilson and Eli, but both are going up against tough defenses. I could also pick up McCown. I lean toward sticking with Wilson, but just don't like him being on the road in cold weather.

Rg3 vs Tampa or stafford vs Arizona

I would play Stafford, Yeah Arizona's D is good and Tampa's garbage. But he's still throwing to Calvin and Tate.

QB help please.

I'm playing Wilson in one of my leagues over RG3, who I think has a better match up than Eli. Why do you not like him in cold weather? He plays in Seattle, he won the Superbowl in NYC. Wilson's fantasy value is rushing yards and rushing TD's, he should still get them vs KC.

TE: Bennett or Rudolph.

Rudolph is only just back from injury and hasn't proven anything yet that he will get points, Norv Turner loving TE's doesn't make him a must start this week when you have Cutlers favorite TD Target.

You better start JOIQING it!

I think I like Reed over Donnell, but it's close.

I think CJ has the best chance in the committee.
Rg3 vs Tampa or stafford vs Arizona
RGIII. He had a great practice and TB is terrible, I see alot of running yards today.
Ben Roethlisberger Vs Titans, RG3 vs Tampa Bay or Cam Newton vs Falcons?

I still like RGIII but it's alot closer.
TE: Bennett or Rudolph.
Kyle Ruldolph will be on a snap count, but it's the frigging Bears. They're terrible vs. TEs and I can still see him getting a TD.

I think both are better option than you think, but with this it depends how many points you need. If you need a 20+ day out of your QB to win, go Wilson. If not, Manning.

Fuuuuuuuuuuck me! I didn't start Miller the other day thinking I'd play West and now its announced that Crowell is the starter. Fuck. I need to win too. I started awesome but lately have been in a slump and its starting to look like if I keep it up I'm out of the playoffs.

Man I've pretty much written off this one league I'm in. I learned a lot though. Mostly about how faab works and that is better to overspend than not get a key player. Better luck next year I guess.

Hellllll yeah I picked up Evans. Now I'm gonna beat the dude in our team that's 9-1. Also, someone offered me Romo for Lacy this week. No thanks.

I sure am glad I decided a few weeks ago to pickup, and start, Mike Evans. Holy crap, haha.

I play with my former boss and a bunch of people he knows. This year I totally forgot about the draft and a crappy team was drafted automatically for me. I've had to scramble constantly to stay in this thing, which has usually meant me picking up people that I just had a good feeling about while most no one else wanted them. I'm somehow almost #1 in the league, and they all hate me for it.

I lost my first three matchups this year, but then won six in a row before losing last week. I'm going to win this week for sure.

I also have Luck at QB, so that has helped me a lot.

Hey, uh, paging Dwayne Allen? I need him to score tonight.
Dwayne Allen left Sunday night's Week 11 game against the Patriots with an ankle injury.

Allen went down in the second quarter and had to eventually be carted off. He's out for the rest of the game. Allen was held without a catch before exiting and didn't have any targets. Coby Fleener will pick up his snaps in an every-down role, with Jack Doyle playing in two tight end sets.
sry.

Rainey.

Ouch... this is why trade vetoes should never be on players. I pretty much use the Matthew Berry stance:

That was a pretty entertaining read, thanks. And yeah, I do like his points. I feel a similar way except I only want the commish to intervene if a trade was really bad(like Sankey for Demarco, no way should that fly).

I'd seriously reconsider and suggest going with Kelce. Fasano is out and Kelce is gonna get a full workload.

I stuck with Rueben and it worked out, he had over 100 yards receiving today. But I'm probably going to lose anyways unfortunately. My starting WR's really let me down. I had Fitz and Hilton who have scored a grand total of 5.7 points. I'm trailing by 43 with only my defense and kicker left. Unless Pittsburgh pulls a Philly from last Monday or even a GB from today then I'm done. At least the other two guys at 7-3 are going to lose so I'll stay in 1st place tied with the guy who is going to beat me. That will help me sleep a little better at night I suppose.

It's funny how a chain of events lead to my loss. First I thought about getting Michael Floyd because Stanton seemed to favor him over Fitz when he was starting. But I backed out because Floyd's number the past month have been pretty bad. Then I was planning on taking GB's defense because I thought Sanchez was going to stink it up. But he did pretty well on Monday night which scared me away from that and I decided to stick with Pittsburgh who is playing the Monday Night game. If only I had made those gutsy moves to go with those 2 then I would have won. But I guess everybody has a few stories like this every season.

Thx all. I did use Jennings but him and Sprioles had almost the same amount of pts so it was a squash. But Blue was a gem. But I wish I had Gray

I blew my opponent out despite getting like 10 points from Matt stafford. Leads me to a predicament for next week: stafford at the Pats or Stanton at the Seahawks. The pats have been on fire lately but my gut tells me Matt might at least be able to put some garbage time yds against that secondary. What do you guys think?

This isn't even a question.

Stafford.

If I could use this lineup next week I will literally jizz my pants
