i don't hate my mcu-gaf bros. i only pity them. it's like when mr. swag called red lobster fine dining in that one thread. they lack the light to guide them to much better blockbusters.

father forgive them for they do not know what they do.

Hey everybody I think Deathy Boy is upset not enough people are engaging him.

He's trying real hard.

Yeah... The Avengers is a piss-poor film.

GOTG is brilliant. CA: TWS is great. The Avengers is poor. Even Joss Whedon is all 'it's a fun experience.' Like even the writer/director doesn't think it's a great film.

The Avengers is a terrible film.

Just terrible. Even the action. Like I get people wanted to see The Avengers team up, but that tracking shot of them all fighting is just hideous. The sort of stuff people mock Bay for is suddenly good when it's Captain America doing an incredibly Mr. F spin-kick?
Yeah, it's a hot mess. And it has pretty bad dialog/writing that people seem to like because it's "relatable" and shows how human they are. :|

That's some amazing "Reading between the lines" skill you got there.

When I was at a Q&A for "Much Ado..." Joss even shit on the visual aspect of Avengers and said part 2 would look like an actual film. I don't care what Gaf says anymore. My number one compliant about Avengers (outside of how boring it was) was justified by the director of the movie.

I'm pleased to say the feeling is mutual.

I like a lot of Marvel movies, and really appreciate them trying to adapt source material.

The fanatic following and people who base their opinions of comics on their knowledge of the movies I like a little less.

And DC vs. Marvel wars are just plain dumb.

I know, right?

But that aside, never settle for mediocrity. Even if you view comic-books as B-Movies, they're competing with stuff like Big Trouble In Little China/Raiders of The Lost Ark. 'Fun experience' isn't enough.

Marvel movies must be for people who don't actually enjoy movies because they don't seem to care about who directs them or how they look as long as they tie into their grand universe. They'd probably be happy with a neverending weekly TV show if had Iron Man and Thor in it

It's disposable trash, easily consumed and then discarded.

Like a prom dress you love for one night and throw away the next morning.

That must be it. You've cracked it. There's literally no other reason.

You're 1% of a competent person.

How many films have you made out of curiosity?

Me? A few short films at University. One got a rather good reaction at a cinema showing; granted that was because everything else was pretentious and my one was goofy and silly. I write a fair few scripts, few comics drawn for me. But I also have an MA in Scriptwriting and critical analysis ability, so...

In short, eh.

I wouldn't say that's true. From what I've seen on Gaf the vast majority of MCU fans care who directs the films. Look at the reaction to Peyton Reed directing Ant-Man or the acclaim the Russo brothers received for The Winter Soldier.

Devin from BAD once said "Marvel is making television that is seen in a theater."

You can not be that ignorant. No way. You're joking.

There are metric fucktons of BS in this thread, christ.

I've yet to see anyone seriously claiming MCU movies to be cinematic masterpieces, but some people in here act as if enjoying a Marvel movie makes you a despicable subhuman, not worthy of entering a movie theater.

People don't like people being vocal about stuff they like.

I fucking love most Marvel movies. And even the ones I didn't love, I liked.

And this whole "Avengers is a bad movie!" movement that's popped up recently is ridiculous. Avengers is great. One of my favorite and most watched movies. It has such a great blend of action, humor, and characters. But I guess it's popular, so some people have to hate it and be extremely vocal about it.

Imo marvel haters are just as obsessive about claiming their opinions are facts as marvel fanboys are about their love for the movies.

Haters definitely try a lot harder though. It's possible to not like something without incessantly stroking your own ego

I haven't seen anyone saying anything like this at all. I've seen people trashing the movies, but not the people who watch them (at least I hope not because that would be so fucking shitty).

This thread summarized perfectly.

And 3 thst compromise one of the better trilogies of all time. Not even one MCU film can touch Return of the fucking Jedi brah.

That movie had Ewoks too.

For all the shit the MCU movies deserve, as in terrible thirdacts, forgettable baddies, the Thor movies, stale formula etc, this goes to far. MCU has atleast good acting, while Star Wars.. well, you know.

MCU fans now trying to overtake Nintendo fanboys for most obsessive?

Two strawmen at once. Quality post.

Marvel's problem is the continuity, like the comic-books, is too much to handle. So everyone has to shrug about no-one helping out Stark in Iron Man 3 (and that scene with Banner makes it even more ridiculous), not helping Thor out in Thor: TDW (made stupider by Captain America working for Shield who, ya know, deal with this shit) and Cap A being a fugitive in CA: TWS and yet Hawkeye, a fucking Shield Agent, isn't even mentioned.

Throw in The Other saying Thanos is going to fuck Loki up... and then a year later Loki is safe and sound on Asgard... and it's crawling up it's own ass in how they can't handle the weight.

So thank God for GOTG and James Gunn, which has minor connections to the MCU and otherwise ignores it completely. Until they decide to have Iron Man join the team and... sigh.
117 posts for you to show up, you're slacking.

This would be a great tag.

The drama is going to be spectacular when this bubble bursts

I dont think the bubble will burst (these films are safer bets than people realize) but Marvel is gonna get (has) a hate train like Nolan has. Especially on GAF. Marvel praise and discussion is too ubiquituous right now for there not to be backlash.

Well there was someone on the first page insulting someones intelligence for liking these movies.

I guess the problem is all the hyperbole which is often the issue on these boards. Everyone argues the extremes and these threads always go to shit. You have to rise above (I try). Everything is either the worst thing ever or the best shit off all time.

Though the pro-MCU people are pretty tame in this thread. But the other side? Some of you guys need to relax. Go masturbate or something. Post pics.

I suggest you go back a few pages then.

Yeah, I really don't know how I missed this:
Just speaks to your intelligence if you're a fan of mindless marvel movies

My bad - and like I said, really shitty.
