ARROW Season 3 |OT| Welcome to the New Age

Man, the drop in quality this season is insane. What he hell happened?

Outside of that, I quite liked the exchange between Oliver and Diggle. Hinting towards the Royal Flush gang? I could also be reading too much into an innocent exchange.

Cupid - HNNNG. Glad she's not dead, but she was able to become that skilled in just six months? What?

Flashbacks are so soul crushingly boring. Not sure I can take an entire season of these if they pick up and soon.

So Roy is now officially Arsenal, that's cool, but Ollie still isn't going by Green Arrow or even referenced as G.A once? Come the fuck on...

They should have gotten this out of the way last season and yet they are dragging it out. We'll probably have Thea in the red suit before he's called G.A at this point...

So...Captain Boomerang. Isn't he primarily a Flash villain or does he crossover into G.A sometimes too?

Hmm so Cupid was actually pretty awesome despite her stupid line delivery from last week. She sold the crazy well! I dunno why, but the psychiatrist's off-the-cuff eval of Ollie got a laugh out of me.

All you guys saying this season is trash so far.... um have you seen the other two seasons? This show has always taken it's time the first half of the season setting up plot threads. Last season's start was tons slower IMO. They've already set up: Atom, Ra's, Canary (meh) and the big crossover with Flash. This is just what we know about too. It's obvious Hong Kong will tie into what's happening as well (ala every other season of this show).

No Roy Flip and Ray not being able to do the salmon ladder = FAIL. Points for Ollie getting Radioactived.

DJ just randomly kissing Thea.

The fuck. That shit works? They had like no romantic or sexual tension at all. I try that and Willa Holland files a restraining order against me, but Joe Q DJDouche does it and she seems responsive.

And he has terrible hair.

Totally expected Roy to be standing behind her in the background, would be sad to have both Oliver and Roy to get a moment like that.

But mann, Cupid is beautiful phew.

The feeling I'm getting is that this season was intentionally slowed down a bit at the beginning for the Flash crossover, and then it's going to pick up quite a bit after that. Hopefully, anyway.

Sadly I agree. This was the one show I looked forward to watching each week

Gotham has taken that mantle

/stillhavehope

It's really weird what's happened this season. It honestly feels like he more competent writers have bailed to Flash, but someone pointed out it's still mostly the same writers.

Whatever's happening, I hope they sort it out soon. This has slipped to the bottom in my most list of most enjoyable comic book shows.

Flash
Gotham
Agents of Shield
Agent Peggy Carter (yeah, I haven't seen it, but I already know it's going to be goddamn amazing)
Arrow

Come on writers, kick the show into first gear already...

- Ray Palmer is a creepy weirdo. I kind of want him to get a spinoff just for the pure ridiculousness of Felicity having a love triangle with all three leads of CW superhero shows.
- So Thea becomes a bad-ass, barely gets any screentime, and then her big storyline is managing the club again and dating a douchy DJ with longer hair than her... Now I just want the reveal of her killing Sara over with so I can write off whatever promise her character had this season.
- The flashbacks are turrible. I doubt Ollie's adventures in Russia are going to be any more interesting than this either. Ditching the flashbacks and putting more effort and depth into the present day characters and storylines would improve this show so much.
- Roy/Colton Haynes wailing on that kung fu dummy was hysterical.
- So I guess Diggle's like a relationship counselor now to go along with his arm-crossing and advice-giving duties. Hate to say it, but Diggle is boring as fuck now. He has been since the second season. I wouldn't mind if they wrote him out.
- Cupid was fun enough.
- You guys are crazy. Felicity looked amazing in that blue dress.
- ASHURRRRRRR!!!

I dunno, maybe Aussie Ra's can save this season from being trash. We'll see.

I think the writing was about as bad last season. The big difference, to me, was they had big twists happening at the beginning with Sara being alive and being a vigilante and her being in The League and mentioning Ra's and all that stuff. All that stuff was happening before the season's big bad, Deathstroke, starting kicking ass in the present story and putting things into gear.

This season's early big story thread before the big bad comes in is still Sara, but it's a super boring murder mystery. There's no twists, it's just: "Hey, there's an archer! I bet he killed Sara! Nope, not him. Hey, there's an archer!" So without any exciting pace or plot twists, all we're left with is the bad writing, which the show's always had.

I don't know I still find it to be on par with The Flash.

I think they just turned the dial to 11 or so near the end of season 2 and had to reset it to like 5 for the start of the season.

My main concern is mostly the flashbacks, which still seem to lack direction nor do they really tie into the modern day plot so far.

Things I didn't like about This episode:

1) once again Roy is pretty much useless. He's not ready to be arsenal

2) it's distracting to see felicity going back and forth between spending time with Palmer and then with the little time she has she devotes to crime fighting. She's almost not on Team Arrow no more.

3) Ollie once again sucking ass against a villain. Ok Cupid was a SWAT but Ollie is the goddamn Arrow, that fight shouldn't last a minute before Ollie disarms her. And I have trouble with Ollie and Diggle investigating and just walk right through the front door. They'd be so easy to trap and kill. And Diggle not wearing anything to protect his identity again?

4) it is unclear at this point what Ollie is trying to become. Last season he strives to be a hero, and this season he has been just here and there, fighting some crime, getting sad and mad over felicity, and pissing off Ras. What happened to the man with a mission?

The only thing I didn't like was Thea's DJ troubles this episode. Seemed like a step backwards for her. Only thing that would've made it work would've been Roy seeing it.

Yeah, Arrow doesn't know what he's doing anymore, and thats ok. He has emotional issues and Diggle is being a friend and trying to help him. Felicity is attempting to move on with her life and be a normal woman (ie: the dress).

Oh and yeah, flashback did seem a little unwarranted this episode. I didn't get how it meshed with the overall story arc for the season. Its nice to see him grow and have challenges in the past, but it has to do with something in the now - even if its just an emotional something.

Plus the ATOM suite. I pray that the CW team changes that design because so far it sucked. It looks like its going to be some paintball equipment knock off with kneepads or some junk - like Goblin's in Spiderman 3.

Yeah, I do think Deathstroke set the bar high for me and now the show is back to being on a slow burner while they get ready for the big bad, it's making me feel like the show has dropped in quality, when it's probably just repeating the same formula from both seasons 1 and 2.

And I definitely agree about Sara. The murder plot, as long as it lasted, was just ridiculous.

Pretty sure the flashbacks are going to tie into his relationship with Diggle/Lyla and their baby.

Wait, why did Ollie call Roy 'Arsenal' all of a sudden? Didn't Ollie specifically say "I'll never consider you my arsenal" or something last episode because that would be like an insult to Roy (ie "you're just my side-kick I can dispose of at any time")?

ANd then he said he liked the name, no? "Maybe that is what we should call you"

We need more GIFs of Cupid.

Certainly seems like it. But they need to give more emphasis to Diggle/Lyla in that case.

I expect doom to befall that poor Japanese family.

I think you misheard it.

Great episode. Cupid was madly fun. Far better than the comicbook version. She looked better desing wise and aside from crazy there was genuine love there for Arrow, which nicely distinguishes her from other crazy stalker villains. Considering how few great rogues GA has in comics I hope that when Cupid reapears in New52 she will be based on the show's version.

Plus it was nice to see Oliver just plain dominate her in actual combat, which is how it should be.

First time this season that Hongkong flashbacks were fun too. Good fake out with Katana, but it's propably just delaying the inevitable.

And Palmer is a total creep, plus his pitiful salmon ladder and his pitful lack of abs clearly show he needs a exosuit to joing the badass club ;)

And where was my Radioactive dear showrunners ? :D

Overall I had a blast this week. Best ep this season so far to me and one of the very best "villain of the week" ones the show had. Right up there with dollmaker. First time that Arrow had more fun ep than Flash too and Flash had a very good one.

Now...I need my Suicide Squad ep. Cupid, Deadshot, Bronze Tiger, Captain Bumerang...daaaaamn...throw in Helena and Deathstroke and the universe could collapse from the intensity of that awesomeness.

ANd then he said he liked the name, no? "Maybe that is what we should call you"

Yeah, I just went back and checked, you're right. But still, I find it kind of weird because it was just said in passing and Roy didn't even say yes to it (and tbh, the name was originally brought up as an insult about Roy's position, so I don't know why he would agree to it), and now he instantly reacts to the name. But then, I guess one could assume some time has passed between those two episodes.

First female SWAT member in Starling turns out to be a lovesick looney. LOL.

GODDAMN that'd be amazing.

Someone needs to make a YouTube Radioactive edit of this scene.

Yep my feelings exactly. All the great things about Season Two had to be build up. The Slade stuff started in Season 1.

I think my only complaint is that the overall pacing seems slower than what the show usually does, even from the start. Like nothing has really come from Thea's training, or Ra's. Which is unusual in a show that usually doesn't stretch things out.

Now we just need to chain them.
Two people kiss, watched by two people who just embrace each other out of grief, watched by more people while overlapping tracks of radioactive play over each other.

The show normally has a relatively pedestrian first half of the season but in previous seasons the Island flashbacks had enough in them to keep the plot moving even when it was very much in setup or villain of the week mode. This year the flashbacks are just a huge drag which exposes a lot more of the mundane central story of the week.

I still find it somewhat disappointing that no one has called Ray Palmer out on his creepy bullshit, also the DJ guy seemed less like a person and more like an automaton made up of the worst parts of CW writing over the years.

There;s no way that dude isn't some sort of villain or league of assassin's plant. I suspect poor Ra's has been holed up in his castle for too long, so when creating fake persona for his spy he lazily browsed Vevo vids, watched some fan made videos of teen soaps and though the collage he gathered from that exercise is how young people behave these days ;)

The rarely mentioned third effect of Lazarus pits; amazing DJing.

I just had a terrible thought..what if Lazarus pit not only ressurects you and turn you evil, but also makes you younger than when you died? What if that DJ is actually ressurected Tommy? Paging Wozzly....

I can see here the set up for Season 4 arc called "under the blonde wig"

I LITERALLY HAD THE SAME THOUGHT

Ray Palmer is a dozen sexual harassment lawsuits waiting to happen.

Yeah, but he looks like Brandon Routh, so he'll get away with it.

But it's not like Felicity is setting boundaries, and she seems into it...
am I victim blaming, is she a victim if she returned the kiss RADIOACTIVE

I meant more the shirtless salmon ladder climbs in the middle of the office :lol

HOLY FUCK, TOMMY AS WINTER SOLDIERIZED RED HOOD!?

RH_Pistols_02-700x393.jpg

MAKE IT HAPPEN, GREATEST FUCKING REVEAL OF ALL TIME
lmao
Now I will be sad if that doesn't happen.

I liked it better than some previous episodes, but something doesn't feel right about this season so far. It all feels too disjointed, and I can understand they're setting things up for the rest of the season, but seven weeks of this...? Those flashbacks also don't help.

Felicity and Ray make a much better couple than Ollie and Felicity.

I know in Season 1 I hated Ollie and Laurel but now I'm kinda curious if they can actually make it work between those two.

That would make Tommy's return as the Red Hood even more twisted and complex.

God that's gonna be sexy. He died and came back as Swagus Chriswag.

I kinda wish there was a twist where Felicity finds out there are a series of restraining orders against him from the other girls he's stalked at his workplaces.

Would be hilarious.

Wait... Tommys not coming back as the Red Hood right? Your just kidding? I can't even tell these days.

But, it would be interesting if Merlyn used the Pit to bring him back like Ras brought back Jason Todd.
