This goes to show how many connections the Pope has. At the very least it will be interesting to see how people respond to their favorite not being picked considering who the judges are.

I mean, it looks great on paper, but I suspect some of those people play very few games. Not that nominating games should only be the domain of the hardcore.

Hasn't this been known for weeks?

Yep.

The Game Awards 2014 is produced by Geoff Keighley, with the guidance of an advisory board that includes Reggie Fils-Aime (President and COO, Nintendo of America), Yves Guillemot (Co-Founder and CEO, Ubisoft), Hideo Kojima (Executive Contents Director, Kojima Productions), Shawn Layden (CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment America), Peter Moore (COO, Electronic Arts), Rockstar Games, Phil Spencer (Head of Xbox, Microsoft), Martin Tremblay (President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment) and Valve.

Also, I'm almost sure the Advisory Board is not involved in choosing nominees.

I'm starting to get very curious to see what this is all about.

Keighley, quite frankly ...

If there isn't footage of them all sitting in a room I will continue not to believe they are an 'advisory board', but more 'I talked to them all one time'.

you guys do know the advisory board aren't the judges right

because if they were the judges then jeff gerstmann would be on there since he heavily implied he was a judge for the game awards on one of the recent bombcasts

Making the advisory panel the CEO's of the companies whose games are competing for the awards?

You guys don't see an issue here?

So what exactly does this show use an advisory panel for? I imagine most of the major pubs will be showcasing trailers for 2015 releases (like all of the preceding VGAs), but other than that, what are they there for?

Oh no, There is a pretty big conflict of interest there. But you can't do anything (anything) in video games without the fingers of the various publishers dipping themselves into the pie.
