I only planned to get the bundle and walk out. I left with the bundle, and a Mario, Link and Pikachu amiibo.

I'm a very weak person.
 
so did anyone pick up the PDP Controller. how is that?

nevermind. i'll just get the smash branded gcn controllers since it's available lol

EDIT: nvm. none available at best buy when i selected it. may not be stocking fast enough. may stop by later today and see still.
 
Sometimes I'm pretty bummed about living in a modestly-sized desert town. Went to Target at 8am only to find the only thing unloaded off the freight truck were the amiibos so far. Went ahead and bought Link, but I'll have to come back in a couple hours for the game :(
 
My brother might start streaming soon, and i'll join him once my amiibos arrive in the mail

Pick a character from the list of conquest, play online. The more wins you get, the more get tallied up. In the end, the character with the most wins... wins.

Basically it's like supporting your favorite of the characters, but it's just for fun.
 
I picked up the game at Walmart this morning but they were all out of GCN controller adaptors! Damn! I already have 4 of those so I'm not paying for some Wii U ripoff!

Does anyone have any idea on the availability of the adaptors?
 
I have the game since last night and barely touched it, I can't play this without my GC controller and the adapter will be here until next week :/

Did the US not have a bundle with the adapters or something? I'm still waiting for mine another week being in the UK but that's how I've secured mine.
 
PRO controller works great on this.
Is there a guide to the stages or something like that? or characters? I have like 5 hours to try to unlock everything before everyone arrives LOLOL
The hype was real in Mexico, first time I went to a midnight release it was fun
 
something to keep in mind is that among all of this game's lifelong patches (and i'm guessing there will be quite a few) we'll probably get some netcode tweaks down the line once namco analyzes the data y'all are opting in to send them.
 
I'm surprised there aren't more impressions. But then, after reading the reviews, I'm not so surprised given that it is apparently a difficult game to put down and I'm pretty sure all you nutbags are playing it endlessly...while I work. :0(
 
I never used the right analog stick for gameplay ever. I always did running short hops and changed my direction followed by a bair.

Im really tempted.

How is online play? Is there much lag?

Most of my gaming friends literally live 2000km away so I don't have many people to play with locally

Some people in this thread aren't being specific about their types of connections or who they are playing with, but a lot of the early feedback is that the online is working quite well (especially with a LAN adapter).

oh man what a bummer... i think the SD reader on my Wii U is busted... tried 2 different SD cards (both working perfectly on the PC) and got the same msg.... is there a way to test this out besides smash?
 
I bought a Mario , Yoshi and Link amiibo. Have yet to get the game until later today. I love the amiibo packaging and don't want to open it! But I also want to use them! Such a dilemma!

Is the photo channel a thing in Wii mode? If so, you could throw a jpeg on the card and see if the photo channel reads it.
 
how's the loading between matches? Is the wiimote that bad for playing?

These are the types of things I worry about.... seems silly bit this is meant to be a party game for me.
 
So basically Ridley is a smash ball. The second he appears, everyone chases after him and starts wailing on him, hoping to make him their ally.

Something I totally didn't know before playing though is that once someone "claims" him, other players can "steal" him by continuing to attack. His ownership can change hands multiple times in one appearance. It's pretty great.

Definitely just makes Pyrosphere "the Ridley stage," but it's tons of fun nonetheless.

My local Gamestop had everyone on the floor EXCEPT FOR MARTH AND VILLAGER

I'm in a google hangout with some other GAFers in different places, and we've basically all reported the same thing. One guy works at a GS and said his store was preordered out of both. Nobody else has seen either in a store either as some of them went to Target and Wally World to look.

I was only getting one, and my GS where I reserved Smash had Samus. So I was good! :P

I apologize if this has been answered. Does this have a tournament style online mode similar to Mario Kart? This alone would sell me on the game. I loved that feature on Mario Kart to drop in and out with GAF members at any time.
 
I was playing online from midnight to around 3 AM EST last night, and it was mostly a pretty smooth experience. I had two matches experience lag and slowdown, but the rest were encouragingly smooth. Granted, not everyone in the country had the game yet at that point...

THIS. I guess I have to buy 2 amiibos for characters that I really like. I can see myself getting 2 Megaman amiibos (1 for SSB and 1 for display).
 
Lol, I come over to Best Buy and they have nothing out. How do you have two big name releases and forget to put out all the stock? Now I'm waiting with a group of people.
