The Flash |OT| Gotta Go Fast - Tuesdays 8/7c

The CG has been fairly remarkable for TV, I don't understand how anyone could say it's outright bad.

The fact that we even got that kind of direction/special effect is amazing.

Finally watching the episode now.

Is it just me, or is Eddie like some parallel universe version of Seth McFarlane?

Reminds me a little of Captain Awesome lol.

Anyways, also just had a chance to watch:

- Thought it was a fantastic episode, by far my favorite Flash so far.

- Grant Gustin is a great lead.

- But Barry Allen sure does get his ass kicked a bunch. He should spend all his free time flashing over to Starling and put in some sparring time with Oliver. No superpowers, just training. He sure could do with it.

- Thought it was a great character moment at the end for Wells, with some good acting pushing it along

- Villain was kinda pathetic, in that "I never got over being the big man in high school" kinda way.

- So Wells is definately, in some way, involved with Reverse Flash (or whatever it's called, not familiar with the comics)

- Brutal 2 week wait for the crossover!

Can someone gif that moment when Eddie is resting his face against the punching bag and does like this eird face as if he is cuddling it?

I laughed out loud at that entire scene.

I really like how sympathetic Eddie is. It first became obvious in Ep4, but strongly continued here. It might be a fake out, but for now it's good to see the main love rival not be a crappy guy

There is still the possibility, however remote, that Wells is Flash from the future or potentially Impulse.

I could see that. He wasn't strong enough to beat Zoom before he kills his mother and his guilt is what spurns him to mentor a younger Barry to become a stronger Flash than he ever was.

My only issue with this reading is that it wouldn't require him be so secretive about what he's up to. If his motives are purely to help, he could just tell Barry, "So, yeah, I'm a Flash from the future. Long story, but... we need you to be stronger and I'm here to help train you in your powers."

In addition, you'd think he would be more hands-on with Barry's training, rather than having the other two mostly contributing to it.

I think the best moment of the episode was Wells' eyes going narrow in the coffee shop with Joe.

"...but you already know the answer to that question, don't you officer?"

Gave me chills.

The synopsis for the mid-season finale is up:

“The Man in the Yellow Suit” — (8:00-9:01:30 p.m. ET) (TV-14, V) (HDTV)

BARRY COMES FACE-TO-FACE WITH THE MAN IN THE YELLOW SUIT/AMANDA PAYS RETURNS TO THE FLASH — Barry (Grant Gustin) finds himself face-to-face with his nemesis, the man in the yellow suit, a.k.a. Reverse Flash, who killed his mother. Barry is frustrated when the Reverse Flash escapes, but Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanagh) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) come up with a plan to trap him. All they need is bait, so they turn to Dr. Tina McGee (guest star Amanda Pays) from Mercury Labs to help. Meanwhile, it’s Christmas at The West household and Iris (Candice Patton) is in full holiday cheer. Eddie (Rick Cosnett) gives her a surprising gift but also leaves her with a question that could change her life. Joe (Jesse L. Martin) joins the search for the man in yellow and ends up in the crossfire. Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) finds Ronnie (Robbie Amell). Ralph Hemecker directed the episode written by Todd Helbing & Aaron Helbing (#109). Original airdate 12/9/2014.

Goddamn, they made a great casting choice for Wells

Since everyone else has a Reverse-Flash theory:

My guess is Wells is Thawne's descendant, hence the future room. He's already got the powers, but they're probably limited by a lack of Flash, or like Johns' version of Zoom, he thinks Barry needs to be a better hero.

I assume Harrison Wells is an alias. H.G. Wells wrote The Time Machine.

From reading that synopsis I think it's safe to say that Eddie
will propose to Iris?
I dunno. It could be
keys to his apartment (gift) and an offer to live together (change)
.

Another possibility is
a trip (gift) and a job offer involving moving away (change)
.

I think these challenge her present identity without necessarily falling into the
engagement
tropes just yet. Especially if
Joe gets hurt or she grows more attached to The Flash, she'll question leaving home or the city. With engagement, her life doesn't have to change much except for her commitment to Eddie which currently isn't really being challenged by anything. The only big thing to come out of it is that Barry would find her even more out of reach, but he seems to already consider her there.

Sonuvabitch, never made the
HG Wells
connection. That fits too perfectly.

I like how that Caitlyn finding Ronnie is included as an afterthought.

With
their using Tina McGee and the same actress who played her in the first Flash show
what if Reverse Flash is actually an alternate universe version of Barry's dad? BOM BOM BOM! *Crickets*

What if Reverse
Flash is the woman Wells was talking about to Joe?

Maybe their incident took them to the future and that's where his wife took a Martha Kent Flashpoint Paradox twist? Future Barry sends Wells back in the hopes of training past Barry to become better and stop her without killing her or causing some huge incident which kills millions?

Yeah, I'm rambling.

What if Reverse Flash is actually a hero from the future and the situation there has grown so fucked up and desperate that he's willing to travel back through time and kill a lot of people and fuck up Barry's life specifically to make it so that he becomes the hero that everyone needs?

Shiiiiiiiiiiiet

I think if Eddie and Prof. Wells look at each other, there will be a time paradox if they are the same person, and the universe will explode. Or they are just working together and know to stay away from each other for fear of suspicion. We have never seen them together in a scene for a reason.

They don't have a reason to meet yet.

Oh shit...

What if Wells is Eddie's future self, and then you get the 'do I want to become that?' arc

The pictures of reverse flash set photos made it look like Eddie to me but its hard to tell

Obviously Wells knows what's up but I don't think its him specifically tbh

My theory on Wells:

He's Hunter Zolomon, who may be the Reverse Flash now or may become him later, but he's obviously from the future.

Now whether Eddie Thawne is actually Eobard or not, I don't know, but he's either Zoom now or will be the second one in the show.

I hadn't seen those set pics of Reverse Flash before. I really like the costume. The yellow to black gradient is cool and sets it apart from Flash's costume.

I'm glad they got to calling Barry the Flash really quickly. My girlfriend groaned when Barry said it to Iris, but it is better then being called "The Streak" for a whole damn season.

The Blue Red Blur Rides Again

I wonder if in the mid-season finale, Reverse Flash will only appear as a threat. Maybe they'll fight but we won't find out who it is. Reverse Flash could hide his face and voice like Barry does for the whole encounter. That way they can keep his identity a mystery and keep our "Wells or Eddie?" guessing game going.

If the Reverse Flash (what a fucking stupid name) is from the future, of whatever. Why does he have the exact same suit as the current (for him past) Flash that just got a different color? I mean, apparently Cisco (another dumb name) made the suit for the current Flash and you'd think there would be some advancements in material or design. Or is that a point where I should basically shut up, because comic books?

That is a common real life name :/

Also just watch the show and wait for them to explain or not.

In the comics, Reverse Flash is INSANE and hero-worships the Flash to the point where he must kill him and replace him as his polar opposite, hence the reversed suit.

He once got surgery to look exactly like Barry Allen.

Yeah gave me chills too. This is the point in the show when I realized how awesome the secondary characters can be.

Now I feel like a total ass. Sorry, I didn't know that. I simply assumed that they gave him the name, because he's supposed to be a genius and the company Cisco is technology related. I guess people would have a similar reaction to my name (except it's not common at all).

That's insane and I can't wait to see how they twist it in the show.

Is it actually spelled Cisco in the show, or is it Sisko like from Star Trek?

I'm so tired of the Wells speculation. Obviously he's
Cupid
....
stupid
.
That is the first time since the first season I'd call an episode of Arrow terrible. Is she even from the comics?
