Super Smash Bros. for Wii U |OT| True Potential of Smash Bros.

Most of them aren't gamers. I'm not in college... In fact I just graduated law school. But everyone is coming over to drink and have fun and play anyway. About 4 of us actually play games and are decent to amazing at smash.

This sounds more true to life.

Those were really good though. As were the aforementioned boss battles. Great stuff. It's just all the in between parts that weren't that fun to me... the bulk of the gameplay. It just didn't feel like a good fit for Smash, and there was so much of it that I thought it dragged.

I completely agree. SSE had neat boss battles and completely awful platforming. At least the platforming in Adventure mode was short and sweet. And I love that Zelda level.

I just realized that that GameXplain video totally showed you being able to use retreating aerials with the New3DS c-stick nub.

I'm assuming that whatever is preventing you from doing it here (besides the work-around) is some bizarro glitch that will hopefully be corrected.

Or it could be a limitation of the gamecube adapter? Can't have to analog inputs at once? Dunno *shrug*

... I need to go do something else for awhile. Or I will become broken by this game.

Adventure Mode: Fun game

SSE: Chore with cutscenes

I feel exactly the same way... on the other hand, I was talking to my wife about Smash and she said that playing through SSE on co-op with me as one of her fondest gaming memories. That kind of baffled me, to be honest. I barely remembered that SSE had existed.

Guys, I have a serious issue.

So like, I'm logged into my own account right? However, all of my bro's data from when he played while I was at school is there. And yes, I checked and he did play on his own save file.

Is there a way to fix this without doing anything convoluted, or is the game one save file per a console? If it's one save file per a console then the single player's worthless to me... Like, there would be a lot of stuff I won't have the pleasure of unlocking simply because my bro already did it.

After already getting boned, the last thing I need is for Sakurai himself to be boning me like this. Goddammit.

At least the new Pokemon's awesome.

Dunno where else to ask this. I got a Wii U Pro Controller off ebay awhile ago. The thing is, I forgot how I've been charging the think. It never included a cord.

What kind of cord could I use for it?

My god I am extremely pleased with online. I may not need another game for years. I am having a blast playing 1v1 for glory. I've wanted this for years and it's finally here. I sense slighty button delay but I get used to it in a few seconds. Tomorrow when I get my adapter it should probably be indiscernible.

counter characters works great. I managed to do 6 with Palutena on the 3DS version. Haven't tried the WiiU version yet.

Kirby is also a good option... just try to lure them all to one point while you fly away and crush them all with down-B.

They have learned...and no longer follow Kirby out.

lol maybe I don't need that stage after all

I don't know how to deal with a good sonic player :-(

also, I kinda suck in general :-)

Add me mediocre players! I could learn something from you

Whaaaat, adventure mode was great. It didn't overdo itself, and it didn't feel like a completely randomized collection of standard matches. It was exciting. Probably one of the best one player modes Smash has had. (imo, only Event mode in Melee/Brawl/4 beat it out. Classic mode in 64 is close).

I actually prefer playing all the various modes to unlock characters. In Brawl it felt like I didn't have to do much to unlock them, since they almost all come from the story. It's similar in Smash 4 though; the match count is so low, feels like you never have to go out of the way to go unlock someone. But I suppose that can be a positive or negative to different people, yeah.

Those were really good though. As were the aforementioned boss battles. Great stuff. It's just all the in between parts that weren't that fun to me... the bulk of the gameplay. It just didn't feel like a good fit for Smash, and there was so much of it that I thought it dragged.

I enjoyed SSE for the boss battles, the cutscenes, the less disjointed nature of the mode (Melee felt like moving through a random assortment of battles with no real link to each other, basically Classic mode but with some travelling portions) and i also enjoyed the entire capturing enemies thing that it had with the trophy stands.

That's not to say SSE was perfect (A SSE with Smash Run enemies to replace the generic ones would be great for example) but in comparison Melee's adventure mode just felt too barebones/rushed as a mode.

Yes it is one save file per console :(

Anyone wanna play 1v1? Pref no items.

We can go and check out stages or just go with the neutral ones.

I just wanna play for about half an hour or so before I head to a smash night at Gameworks.

I recall someone saying there was a way to change you Menu music....going into the music area I can't find a way to change anything permanently...

Finally got all 5 of my copies. I made them get me GCN pads and adapters for the 2 non-bundle copies, and forced them to take 20 USD off (so it was the same price as the bundle.

Have 2 adapters hooked up to my Wii U right now, along with a Disney Infinity Base and an HDD! Wanna know what the funny thing is? i don't even use the GCN controller for Smash. XD

Is there any way to connect both 4-port adapters and the ethernet adapter?
Not sure if answered yet, but the instructions for the adapter mention that it's possible to connect it to an external USB hub, then connect that USB hub to the Wii U. I'd recommend using a powered USB hub if you do this.

Adventure Mode: Fun game

SSE: Chore with cutscenes
Yup.

SSE was a perfect example of why classic beat-em-ups are only about 1 hour long. Trying to stretch that content over 10 hours is just a recipe for disaster.

Can we talk about how Gdlk Wario is in this game? Not from a fighter standpoint but looks and animation? we have fat jiggle tech and dude put a sword in his mouth during dash attacks with the beam saber.

Wario da bes

In 5 hours, I'll be playing 8-man Smash with some friends in HD. Life is awesome.

Is there a practice mode where I can just try out characters? I've been out of the Smash loop since SSB64. I need to try some of these characters.

I ordered the controller/adapter/game bundle, and still don't have a Wii U. I am hoping that I will get a good deal for the console in Black Friday.

I assume you have bug eyes and centipede arms because that's the only reasonable explanation to need 5 copies of smash

Was waiting for me at my local Future Shop:

b2_qaahiuaio8wdezazo.jpg

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

totally sold out everywhere else. I went to a TRU today that didn't even have Smash/Amiibos (though they had GC controllers), and the same Future Shop had no other GC adapters/Marth amiibos.

I think Nintendo underestimated how many Melee/Brawl players held onto their GC controllers and just needed the adapter today and not a brand new GC controller.

How is the online without the usb internet adapter? I have one but it takes forever to connect to the internet and as soon as i shut my wii u off it acts like it was never connected and have to re-connect it again.

OMFG. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U at 5400p and 300 fps!!

Oh woe is me. 2 days before Smash 3DS comes out someone backs into my car while it's sitting in a parking lot.

2 days ago it breaks down on the street. I get it back from the shop this morning, pick up smash from best buy and it breaks down on the way home...

Why oh why oh why?!?!?!

Welp I'm having a giant smash party in my apartment tonight. About 20 people are coming over and I will have 8 player smash on Wii U., 4 player Smash 64, and 4 player Melee all running simultaneously on 3 different displays in the same apartment. This should be pretty awesome and I anticipate many drinks will be had.

I think there will also be a few 3DS Smash people floating around. Never really had a gaming party before but I think I struck a good balance between good/novice players and guys/girls. I'll take pictures of the festivities.

Pretty much the same deal for me tonight. 8 player Smash is going to be madness, 6 was already crazy enough.

The music in this game is incredible. That Metroid title remix makes me melt. Also why is there a random ass Golden Sun song on Norfair?
