I'm feeling better. Sorry for being a dick to folks. I genuinely need to work on this bug I have on my shoulder.

Anyway, what are some characters you folks are liking on the Wii U.

For me:

1) Rosalina -
She was my main in the 3DS and now I'm back to using her. I feel like I have better control now and that nerf from 1.04 isn't too bad. If anything, it forces me to learn how to be better playing Rosa solo until Luma returns.

2)Robin -
Robin is kinda damn nice. I'd like to get better at this character and learn how to be effective with him/her.

3)King Dedede-
Damn. I knew he was good back in Brawl but I didn't like him. However I picked him for the hell of it and I like how he controls. His moveset is nice for me. I'd like to learn him as well.

4)Charizard-
I'm mad we don't have the trainer anymore but at any rate Charizard is kinda nice. Still trying to figure out how to use him effectively. He moves at the perfect speed for me.

5)Duck Hunt (3DS)-
I unlocked him on the 3DS but not in the Wii U version yet. If he's similar, and chances are he is, I'll use him a lot.

Just got back from my college's Smash Club. Smash Wii U is really fun and glad we didn't really need rotation because of 8 player smash. Gimmick matches were pretty fun.
Also discovered Boss 1 (Sakura Samurai:Art of the Sword) plays on Luigi's Mansion

I am starting to work on that now that the majority of events are done. A bit tough without a copy but from looking around, I should be able to get it at least started

Challenges

For music the DK Rap is on Jungle Hijinx and Route 209 is on Kalos Pokemon league. I unlocked both.

THE ELWIND SPIKESSSSS

So is the ethernet adapter a must for this, or are you guys doing wi-fi? I'm currently using wi-fi and have had some decent matches, while others were just complete slideshow-levels lag.
I'm on wifi .11n and it's perfectly fine. I had one stutter in one match so far. Everything else was smooth. I play only four-players.

That said, Nintendo would love for everyone to use Ethernet, as it would reduce the number of people with shitty routers from calling support.

Just added myself to the spreadsheet, hope to play a lot of good folks here!

The c-stick's buggyness doesn't affect me as much as I thought, but having to flick it all the time annoys me ever so slightly. Oh well, now I can see my mains in glorious HD!

Guys, this game is fucking BEAUTIFUL on a 50+ inch TV. Like holy shot, online videos don't even come close to really telling the full story. This will probably be the only Wii U game I won't be playing on my TV.

Hnnnng.

Some troll on Smashboards claims that Lanky's segment was cut from the DK Rap. Just to be sure, this isn't true, right?

I heard this too.

But remember two verses were missing in the Melee version of the song, but included in Brawl.

Unless I am misremembering, which I very well may be because I am literally human garbage who is bad.

I haven't listened to it. But that would make no sense at all, no retro track seems to be touched and there'd be no reason to remove Lanky's segment.

If you want to unlock the dk rap to see, just smash 100 crates in trophy rush with DK.

Just picked up a bundle at best buy (I didnt preorder or anything, just no one bought any here). A little depressing to hear that but whatever. Just started playing on my 90" screen and this game was made for it.

i'd also like this, something comparable to vesper arcade's sfiv tutorials would be ideal.

maybe i'll just buy the bible guide thing.

Yeah, having never played a smash game, I have no idea what's going on. There's a simplistic video in the game, but not any tutorial system that I figured would be there. Might try that strategy guide also

It's funny, because Smash is touted by Sakurai as being easy to learn and can be picked up and played without difficulty. Anybody who has tried to teach Smash Bros to a newcomer knows this is completely un-fucking-true.

You can learn it just like you can learn any game, through practice and exposure, but the delusion that Smash has a ground-level entry that everybody can understand and play is flat out wrong. That's like saying anybody and everybody can easily learn to speak Korean because of its straightforward alphabet.

Holy shit, you're right!

Listening to it right now...no Lanky Kong verse, AND no Chunky Kong verse either. :(

Do we know the alternative requirements to unlock Dark Pit, Mr. Game & Watch, and R.O.B yet?

Besides the VS matches?

I unlocked Dark Pit after clearing All Star Mode and 10 round Crazy Orders for ROB.

I've been getting some pretty rough online matches, even 1on1 For Glory. Is there any good way of telling if I'm just getting bad match ups with slow people, or if my connection is at fault?

The lower the ping, the better. I get almost no lag with a 8ms one.

This is going to be a shot in the dark on GAF, but are there any Smashers here in the Raleigh area? I'm interested in checking out the scene.

Relative to the rest of the fighting genre, Smash is very much easy to learn. Maybe not to succeed at, but the basic premise of 'knock dude off ledge and press A a lot' are not hard lessons to enforce.

Yeah, I prefer unlocking them without VS matches. Thanks for that, I never would have thought to go into All-Star before unlocking everyone.

I faced a friend online, his sonic and dr. mario gave me a lot of trouble. I was thinking of using Shulk since he's a very interesting character. Though I do want to use Palutena, but I'm not doing so well with her. Anything I should know that could help me be good with Shulk?

Ok finally got into the game. Played with the family a bit using the Pro controller. Everything flet off. Sloppy moves, shit timing, wild attacks that I didn't mean to do.

Switched to wii remote and nunchuck. Suddenly everything clicked. Felt like coming home.

What is wrong with me GAF?

So, any clue on how many CDs yet, or how best to get them? I've gotten three so far...

Looking through the Guide Book, there's like only about 10 or so through Challenges.
