How much data would that use up?
So, looks like peach is my main. That float, that fair.
I found out about a last-minute smash party at a friend's place. I didn't even realize they were getting smash. We had exactly enough for 8-player smash with 4 gamecube controllers and some other pro / gamepad / wiimote controllers.
8-player is madness. People had a hard time seeing their character since the screen was "only" maybe 40 inches or so. It was better with 5 or fewer.
Items actually weren't too bad. The only item that seemed really annoying was the black club that shoots tornados. It seemed to show up at least once nearly every single match. It's not even that it kills you, it just irritates everyone playing and not in a fun way. Fortunately I guess it's possible to turn off only that item.
We briefly tried the Mii classes. I don't like miis in general, and most people didn't seem very excited about the classes. We also tried one 15-turn runthrough of the Smash Tour mode. It sort of made sense, but wasn't a huge hit. There's too much time doing random non-fighting things. One thing that would be great if Nintendo could patch it in, would be the ability to do custom draft stock matches without requiring the boardgame. Like, allow two players to take turns picking from all fighters, until each player has a list of 3+ ordered stocks, sort of vaguely like Marvel vs. Capcom (if I'm thinking of the right series) without the dynamic tagging. And yes like someone mentioned, 5-6 team colors would be appreciated for the cases where you have 2-3 new players.
I was really bad with a GameCube controller even though I've used one in the past. I felt like I did much better with the 3DS for some reason. I don't know if it was partly the TV but since other players were doing better, presumably not. I may try the Pro Controller and see if that works any better for me.
It also occasionally felt like the entire 8-player game was slightly slowing down (aside from slowdown items), but for all I know certain levels might briefly have that effect.
Overall I'm pretty happy. I might wish for some more levels, and I'm hoping I can find a control scheme that feels good for me on my own HDMI monitor.
that shouldn't be that bad based on this: http://www.displaylag.com/display-database/
that said, you may not have gaming mode on...does it have a gaming mode?
This is only tangentially related to the topic, but I could use some advice and it's Smash related, soooo...
I preordered the Wii U bundle a while back through Best Buy (unlocked member, 20% off, etc.). Went to pick it up and they didn't have any copies for anyone that didn't order online. Now you can't get bundles anywhere. My preorder is still active. What do?
Whats a good youtube video to pick up decent techniques?
The Pikachu/Sheik matchup starting around the 46:35 mark of this tourney stream archive link was super hype:

Gotta love fighting game commentators.
Tried it in Brawl. Still preferred the wii remote-nunchuck.
Is it possible to compete with that set up though?
That wasn't my best, Jem...
May be a good opportunity to run namebench and change your DNS provider to one that's faster and is more reliable.twitch seems to be down? or something, saying DNS lookup failed, its not on my end as im obviously posting this to you.

Is anyone up for some 1v1?

If you like Smash, especially if you ever have another person or two over at your place, I would say yes.Consensus? Worth picking it up? Worth picking up the system for?

This system update is taking forever though, even with a disc.
You've made a wise decision...Fast characters are a pain tho.

Online a good time? Not many gamers in my circle.
This Kirby eating event sucks because of the fucking camera.
I haven't played online yet. Judging from the comments in the thread, most people are having success. I suspect like the 3DS it will depend on the quality of the connection between you and your opponent. Hopefully For Glory takes that into account. With a wired USB adapter, of the supported chipset, it should be even better.Online a good time? Not many gamers in my circle.
Guys, sort of a unique Smash question here.
I'm not really a fan of the series but I've usually purchased each one because of the Mother content they have, to add to my Earthbound collection (COME ON NESS AMIIBO GOD).
What type of Mother content is in this game? Mother stages, characters, special items? Music? Does anyone have a comprehensive list? I'm trying to see if it's worth buying for my purposes (no Lucas T_T).
