Is there an easy way to unlock all the masterpieces? All the tutorials online are for brawl... I really dislike that this game doesnt have a unique name

What's not clever is how hard it is to find a GameCube adapter after someone stole yours

I guess, but you can pick matches with less characters though. I haven't played in really high difficulties yet so maybe they force you into 5-8 smash more frequently?
 
if my 7 year old niece is any indication, nintendo's onto something with amiibo. the minute she saw pikachu and learned that pokemon were in the game, she had to play it -- and then she was hooked all day.

she leveled up my pikachu to 50 on her own, got surprisingly good, and was able to defeat all the challengers she kept unlocking -- completely on her own. even rob the robot she beat on her own, 1v1. impressive for a 7 year old who has never played a fighter before.

I let her keep the pikachu amiibo for herself because, after all, she leveled it up all that way. she loves it.

Pretty cheap I would say best launch price for game only in the netherlands as far as I can tell.
 
What's the single player content like in Smash?

I've only ever played the series locally with friends. Never bought or played any of these to play by myself. I'm roughly aware of the SP modes in Smash Wii U but are they pretty substantial?

We may still get our real life Klarissa! Cool to hear stories of the little ones getting into Smash.
 
Anyone have any tips for fighting a good Shulk player? (As in, one that actually seems to utilize the buffs in an efficient manner) Just got bopped by one like, five times in a row, and I couldn't figure out my way around him. I tried waiting out really dangerous ones (Buster and Smash), but he would just switch to Speed and case my ass down.

Ah so i'm not the only one who dislikes the new classic mode. haven't tried the hand orders hopefully that's good. All-Star mode is good.

Played the game a lot more today mainly with 4 people, as yesterday i was playing by myself. Impression are pretty much still pretty much the same; fun but same old. I still have fun playing 4 player smash on 64, melee and brawl and this game doesn't really change much in that aspect imo. Sort of get a similar feeling with mario kart 8, even though it's prob my favourite to play.

Online is very nice. I can't see myself putting in the time to play this game competitively though.
8 player smash is neat addition as well.

Single player mode was never the selling point in the franchise tbh. It's always been okay with melee probably being the peak(unless you liked subspace more than adventure mode). Classic mode(previous classic mode) was always the most fun single player mode for me, because it's rather short in comparison to the other modes. Also liked the fact that classic mode had breaks in between, with events such as break the targets and reach the platforms.

That being said i haven't done the hand orders. Event mode and all-star mode is good.

the mode switching stuff I found intimidating, but I saw potential of course.

I can't figure out jigglypuff. what a strange fighter (keep in mind that before yesterday I haven't played any smash games in 10 years, so some of this stuff is new again to me).

I feel like palutena could be incredibly strong in the right hands (obviously you could say that about ANY fighter, but still).

anyway, after playing all day I've sorta identified some champs I believe have approachable movesets for a newcomer.

1) gannondorf
2) meta knight
3) kirby (could also be a bit of bias here since he still feels familiar after I mained him so often in melee 10 years ago)
4) marth

these are champs I think have incredibly strong movesets but may require a bit more practice/skill to be effective with

1) zero suit samus
2) fox
3) shulk

my 2 cents. admittedly I'm not that good yet, but I'm tryin'.

Mostly focused on specific challenges for unlockables(gear, music, trophies and such). There lacks a concise single player 'mode' that ties the product offering together or the unlock progression and instead there is a slapdash metric ton of collectibles and whatnot scattered across the various modes with a checklist hinting you what to undertake for earning rights. Plenty more just is earned randomly during the process.

Brawl on Wii attempted a focused single-player and co-op story mode that was a great foundation towards something special in future entries...but they abandoned it for more pointless minigames in these newer games sadly.
 
They were right to make smashbet a thing. Always bet on Mac. Unless it's doubles and there's two of them on the same team, in which case always bet against Mac.

OK I must be tilting the stick every time I'm on the ledge which is why I'm not doing it.

It's been so long since I've played Smash so I think I was forgetting that rolls vary and hers looked a lot different. I thought it was actually something other than a normal roll.

kudos, my 20-something friends that play smash since 64 tried like 10 times to unlock some of the characters.
 
I just lost three straight smashbets in sudden death. Get it together, plebs. I got trophies to buy.

When you fight online, they should tell you if anyone is spectating, and how much those spectators bet on each respective team/player.
