I have my doubtsi expect uncharted 4 to look much better than star citizen, even if star citizen does have a longer list of tech features.

Is it really all that fair to compare two games that are completely different in all regards to what they represent. IMO both will be as equally as impressive in what they set out to be.
I really think Star Citizen is being hyped up to the point where it cannot deliver on that hype. These shots look good but nothing in them or the gif is mind blowing. If that game flops I doubt large crowd funded games will survive.
these games that can't even run on consoles properly

Have You seen whole landing sequence?
They are pushing 30m polys in the city btw.
Imo the the advantage star citizen has over the pack is in its scale, personally graphically a game like Killzone is easy just as impressive in regards to visuals and design, granted one is fairly linear while the other is vast in scale and scope which definitely gives star citizen the edge.

Yes I have seen everything on it as I am very interested in the final product but the quote below perfectly sums up how I feel about the game visually.
I know all of the physics and scale cannot be recreated in the console space but so far I have seen nothing about it that says omg that is the most amazing thing I have ever seen. It just looks really good.
Agreed

Not only does it have scale, but on a technical level the visuals are beyond anything we have seen even demoed on a console.
I'm sure they will. So far all we have of UC4 is a teaser cinematic, and Order 1886 is nothing but a linear game with cinematics. The UC4/Order 1886 guys will beg to differ with you.![]()
I can agree with this.. but that's speaking volumes about the capabilities of the PC. We all ultimately want an open world game that looks like a CG movie. Not a linear game that looks like a CG movie.
I'm sure they will. So far all we have of UC4 is a teaser cinematic, and Order 1886 is nothing but a linear game with cinematics.
Plus, the Order isn't even Full 1080P. They had to rely on Black Bars to maintain their current graphic level.
The Order's Hollywood aspirations have hardly been a secret, but when one of the game's directors is making the core of what makes his game 'a game' sound like a hindrance and after-thought, then that's going to set off a few alarm bells.
None of this was helped when at E3 Sony debuted a trailer which was more about showing off how well the game transitions from cutscene to gameplay than it was about giving potential players a reason to believe it might actually be fun to play.
It looked slow, the shooting looked weak, the scope of what the player could do appeared limited and the demo I played at last week's EGX 2014 did nothing to alleviate those fears.
Cutscene – gameplay – cutscene – gameplay – cutscene – gameplay – cutscene – gameplay.

what kind of tech is the game using not seen on the consoles? Out of curiosity have you had a chance to play Shadowfall.

Are you serious? I'm not even going to address this at all.

Weve also started on one of the largest visual tech features well be developing in the next six months which is a fully volumetric gas shader. The intention is to use this shader for both massive gas clouds to bring our space environments to life, and also smaller vfx like smoke and explosions. Rendering large semi-transparent volumes with real-time lighting is a significant challenge and is rarely tackled in computer games other than perhaps more limited solutions for cloud shaders in flight sims. As a result there are many aspects to this tech well need to research separately such as the building/placement of the volumes, the complex shape and movement, the light scattering and shadowing, and efficient rendering.
One of the biggest ones that all the modules are benefitting from is that weve modified the z-buffer in the CryENGINE renderer and upgraded it to a 32 bit inverted depth buffer vs. the 16 bit linear version that is shipped out of the box. This might not sound like a drastic thing, but we are now able to render massive objects 1000s of KM with great accuracy. Yet it still allows us to come into first person and retain cm level precision in the renderer. This un-binds us from some fairly typical limitations including map sizes and more.

I didnt know SC was being hailed as some graphical showcase. It looked really generic last time I saw it.I really think Star Citizen is being hyped up to the point where it cannot deliver on that hype. (No I was not looking for the worst screenshot I could find)
You seriously think shadowfall is a graphical/technical benchmark?what kind of tech is the game using not seen on the consoles? Out of curiosity have you had a chance to play Shadowfall.
well the CPU specific features seem like a no brained being that the CPU in both consoles is rather lackluster. On a side note I find it hard to believe anything that comes out of cyberpunks mouth, the guy seems incredibly bias and narrow minded.Beyond going into graphical techniques (which are not finalized and as such, hard to comment on) it is doing a lot of CPU / animation stuff which is unseen before.
Everything is scene from the character eye persepctive of the third person player model. There is no faking going into vehicles, fake 3rd person reload animations, detached 3rd first person sequences etc... every animation is the same because there is only one model/animation set. So the third person animations are the same quality as first person animations in other games.
Then the whole 64bit depth physics/ world origin calculation stuff.
Talking about the graphical stuff specifically is not easy because the game is not finalized at all, better to go into detail about what it is doing there when the game releases. But on average, it is doing much much much more graphically than Ryse even.
You seriously think shadowfall is a graphical/technical benchmark?
Actually the Order 1886 is 1080p http://tay.kotaku.com/why-the-order-1886-is-1080p-and-not-800p-1518902908

Yeah, but like I said it only achieved that by using the black bars to lower the number of pixels rendered. You don't get an upscaled image but personally I hate how it effects my ability aim and see what's happening around me. At least, that's how I felt when playing the Evil Within.
That is really not even close to be on-par with some of the stuff I've see in The Order.Umm.. yea, I just took this shot.. already on par with The Order night time footage.. and this game is open world!

We get it, you think AC is gods gift, terrific...do you have shares in Ubi or something?
The interiors ._.

What a world we live in. And this is only the start of the gen. How can they possibly top this with AC 2015?
I feel like this is what the visuals on console would be like if the game wasn't truly open world and had a world kinda like Dishonored, with sandbox levels. Definitely the most detailed interiors in any game so far. This pretty much debunks all that "the game was downgraded" and the "Ubi gimps pc versions." nonsense.Easy. Lock it at 15 fps. People will love it.

ryse pc = xbone at a higher res. the other changes are barely noticeable. as for the first part of my statement, if ps4 was housing a gtx 980 and a core i7 4770, do you think a leading exclusive would look simply as good as the pc version of unity or ryse?

And that for me is why I don't see Unity as anything particularly striking. Too many bells and whistles just cripple the framerate and thus the gameplay suffers.
