I wish Smash had record/replay so I can quickly figure out how to punish these moves.

The neutral game is so weird. I've been using Olimar most of the time, but I'm looking for another char so I'm trying out DK. How does a character like him approach in this game?

Also, I've been playing against these maniacs that keep rolling and end up behind me. How do you deal with that?

Constantly buying/selling systems never made any sense to me (unless you desperately need the money due to some catastrophe etc.)

This is my thought process but to each their own.

For all the wrong reasons.

You can record/replay...

I disagree. I wouldn't say he's bad at all. Not as good as he is in other games but not bad.

I don't think he's good at all really.

His shine has practically no utility still.
Laser nerf was unnecessary.
A mixture of high endlag and low hitstun means he has barely any combos (UTilt -> UTilt, Dash attack -> NAir, DThrow -> FAir, Jab Lock and that's practically it).
His UAir doesn't connect properly 50% of the time if you hit with the first hit.

The only good thing he got was Fox Illusion not putting you into special fall, but it has high endlag now.

I think there are a lot of characters in the game that are worse than they should be though so maybe my opinion is somewhat skewed.

To me Fox, Falco, G&W, DK, Zelda, Ganondorf, Toon Link, Samus, Marth, Metaknight, Little Mac, Ness, Olimar, WFT, Dr. Mario and Megaman are all bad characters.

You have to read where the roll is going to end up. If you're in your shield, just nair/bair our of shield.

I'm not sure how fast Olimars aerials are since I haven't used him much in Smash 4.

If you know you reacted way too slow, I would say minimize the risk and move away if you can't punish in time.

Edit: And I'm one of those thinking that Fox is actually pretty decent in this game. Not bad at all.

"Oh my god I can't punish a shitty ex move that can't even be spammed, that character is cheap and must die".

Nice way to present your argument, tho. That's why Viscant is not here defending EX headbutts.

What does Viscant have to do with anything? He doesn't post on GAF. And right back at you with putting words in my mouth.
EX headbutt is shit, there's no defending it.

EX Headbutt in Ultra is exactly how it should've always been.

If you're talking about saving replays, you can.

If you're talking about record function in training mode, then yes, I wish we had that.

A lot of people online do non-stop rolling. You deal with that in many ways:

Rolling in the opposite direction yourself.
Jumping away.
Depending on the character, the down smash attack can have good range and time duration and can be useful for dealing with people around you.

Beef, I posted plenty of reasons why it shouldn't be as unsafe on block as it is now, you decided to ignore them and poorly ridiculize one of them. You can't expect me to take you or your "argument" seriously. You wanna state your opinion, that's ok, you want to pass it out as a fact, that's another thing entirely.

Have you played Shamrock's Ness? I don't think you would call him bad if you had.

How do you get the final hit out of Rosalina's mash A consistently? Opponents seem to fall out all the time before I can get the finisher.

Don't rely too heavily on rapid jabs since people already are aware of ways to break free of them and shield the last hit leaving them positive on block. Short rapid jabs into finisher are cool, but I hardly ever do even that much.

Down-B, Reverse Side-B, Nair, Bair.

Hitting people with Upperdash Arm reads/baits/feints all day is so satisfying, especially when they're committed to that rolling life.

Against zoners it's really important that I get out Rosalina's fastest close attack though. It's just weird that I try to alter my joystick direction and everything but the finisher seems to come out randomly. Is there a trick I'm missing to activate the ender early?

Toon Link is a hellish matchup for Rosalina. Even if you use gravitational pull on his projectiles it's not really a means to win. Usually he will recover before I get there if I rely on Rosa's floaty jump.

Yeah, I meant in training mode.

I'll see if Olimar's side smash is useful since the range on his down smash is terrible.

On GAF it's either going to be Bayo 2 or DA I. I will cast vote for Bayo 2 on GAF.

Not enough people have actually beaten DA I yet to properly claim it as GOTY including myself (30 hours in not even close to finishing). DA I would've faired better if your average Gaffer could complete it in time.

Honestly if her damage wasnt so bad in her first stance and her normals were faster she would be pretty easy haha

She felt like one of the characters they made weak because they were scared she would be too good

Mmm... I guess it depends on how much you rely on stance feint cancels in combos or to make normals safe/positive on block. Players who want an easy character have Celica now anyway.

FYI: Arcana Heart 3: Love Max is $14.00 on PSN(PS3 or PSV) if you have PS Plus.

...Why don't I have PS Plus!?
;_;

New version of AH3 is coming to arcades. I would touch it unless you're okay playing a version behind.

Funny how those two things did end up getting fixed in 2.0. Honestly, 5B > 236B makes me so happy lol

Also TK Noir combos are pretty cool.

DA:I crashed on me while I was fighting like the first story boss, so I'm pissed. It's a contender, but I do have issues with the game/pc version. I haven't played bayo but I can definitely see that one winning

Haven't really played anything outside of ffxiv and fighting games

But what if you already have a GOTY? Everything that's not number 1 is just formality.
GGXrd hasn't been released yet so your GOTY can be over thrown.

There are only 4 big games being released in December so by now most people should've played their potential GOTYs. My personal top 5 of the year:

1) Bayonetta 2
2) Dragon Age Inquisition
3) Divinity Original Sin
4) Shadow of Mordor
5) Dark Souls 2 (factoring in the DLCs)

Flop of the Year (and we had a fuck ton of those this year):

Destiny

Sure I troll this thread because this is just another gaf community I latched on to, but I'll be honest. I only play one game and that's EXVS, it came out in January and it has been my GOTY ever since. It's taking spot #1 purely by momentum.

The rest depends on if there is a WiiU sale and if I find the time to play Dragon Age.

So. What is considered more of a success. A game which could be considered an all time best in a genre but it sells like crap or a game hyped beyond belief and has sold millions of copies with millions of people playing daily but has gotten mediocre reviews?

The Wii U sales are so shit. Who the hell is going to buy that console at $250 when they can get the XB1 for just $50 more?

There are two types of successes. One is financial success and the other is critical success.

Destiny is a financial success while Bayonetta 2 is a critical success.

Now as to the direct question of "which is MORE of a success?"... I have to say financial success. A bad game that sells well can get a sequel, expansions or patches that improves on the problems of the first one and eventually becomes a good series. A good game that flops in sales is pretty much done for unless someone comes along and money hats it.

So in Destiny's case, because it sold really well it can be supported over time and with feedback could end up being much better in its sequel. That's actually what happened with Assassin's Creed, the first one was mediocre but second one was much better and it revamped the series, allowing it to be a "successful" brand. Now we are like 8 games deep with Asassins Creed all because the first one manage to sell well enough to warrant sequel production.

I did. (300, but had more stuff in the bundle.) The only thing on XBOX I'd want to play that I can't get on PC is KI. All the nintendo stuff is exclusives and 8-player smash will be awesome at the holidays.

I don't even have eight RL friends to play video games with

Titanfall and BBCP are my #1 and 2 for the year.
