Steam "Exploration Sale" -- i.e. Autumn Sale -- now live (November 26 - December 2)

Does anyone know if any of the games have further reductions randomly?

If you're talking about the 24 and 48 hour sale games, then no. Looks like these are the 8 and 24 hour dailies in other sales and those are the lowest price points. Any game currently on sale but not a part of these sales are that price for the duration of the autumn sale, and if they go on the 24 or 48 hour deals, then they'll be lower

So it would seem likely that we'll get Shadows of Mordor at $25 or less right? They're already skimming at the price at target I think it was for consoles.

This is my biggest hope. This and Divinity are the ones I want to play, but with it on sale during BF for $25 for consoles, I can't justify buying the normal sale price. Praying for a daily.

God steam sale has made me so spoiled

I don't normally *ever* do this, but I'm going to have to whistleblow something here:

Running With Rifle's current sale price in this sale is a complete fake. Literally a day ago, just before this sale, it's regular price was $10, but for the sale today it was raised to $15 and is now "On sale" for $10.

I don't know what anyone else thinks, but that's quite scummy to take advantage of the "On Sale" effect without being a genuine sale compared to the normal price.

I saw a report on the news a week or so ago calling out retailers for a similar practice. Basically, they looked into the "great deals" being advertised this week / Black Friday and compared those prices to a week before at the same retailer. The prices for some of the products were the same. I guess even the illusion of saving money is enough to get some people to bite.

wow these recommendations are really working 90% is on my wish list and I want about 90% of them :O.

and this isn't even the X-mass sale yet........................

I will be kind and say it's an Early Access title so maybe they are getting close to launch and wanted to raise the price for late comers.

Already on it, just seeing if I can gather more evidence or even catch a few other games in the net.

Day Z did the same, although they're claiming that the base price of their game is now permanently raised (from $29.99 to $34.99) and then put on sale for 20% off making it $29.74 - a $0.25 savings over the price it was until 10am PST when the sale started.

Here's what a dev had to say on the matter:

I don't know. It kind of makes sense to me.

That seems somewhat reasonable. It's basically a good way to advertise the price raise in advance to give people a chance to hop it now. Burying it in some forum thread or update and people might miss it. Hopefully this was planned from the start though.

Okay so purchased Gray Matter, FTL, Vanishing of ethan carter....all look decent games, also considering getting The Stanley Parable... will have a look at the reviews once I watch the latest walking dead :D

wut.

Either have a sale or don't. But to raise the base price a day before the sale starts and then "discount" back to the price before makes sense only if you're into misleading pricing practices. Gross.

The "Late Access" moniker is comedy gold though. Well done, shady ass shady dev.

This is scummy and you just ensured that I never pick this up. Until I forget about this, of course.

I tried the The Evil Within Demo. Too dark for me. I'll pass.

thirding the urging for the buying of the crypt of the necrodancer

soundtrack is good, the game is good, you can use your own music and they just added steam workshop support... don't be one of those ninnies that says "I don't buy early access games" as if every dev is the same.. the devs of Crypt of the Necrodancer are constantly updating the game and listening to community feedback.

if you like rhythm games or roguelikes and don't purchase this game you are doing it wrong.

So, my backlog is getting out of hand. With that in mind, I'd like to hold off on buying some things, even though they're at the cheapest they're probably going to be for awhile. Do games ever stop being the focus of these sales? Like, a game that's featured every sale will someday stop getting discounted as a daily?

Woohoo! Friend just bought me Lords of the Fallen, which I've been very curious to check out. Installing!

Also considering The Evil Within. $20 seems pretty reasonable.

cross posting from another thread

hmmm
just saw his comment on old thread

The game is actually on sale, even if not displayed as such.
During the Beta stage, the price has progressed and will reach its final price in version 0.99 (will be released around the end of November).Though the pricetag didn't progress in a while so since a few months you can consider having a 33% sale on RWR.

For version 0.99, the game will have its final price tag at 14.99 USD/€ but it will have a discount of 33% for 1 week so that people will still have time to grab it for a cheaper price tag, which is the actual one being 9.99USD/€. Over xmas, we will have a similar sale. A bigger discount isn't planned in a while.

the problem here,,the game still on 0.98.7

its not on 0.99 , why rise the price ?

Gray Matter is on sale for $2. Anyone here play it?
http://store.steampowered.com/app/260570

Good PnC game, and PnCGAF strongly recommend it.
Just installed Gray Matter its basically free lol, I have a point and click itch that has not been scratched since Broken Sword 1,2,3 ... yep pretty much it, but awesome games.

Get the Blackwell series, some of the BEST PnCs I've played in years. Short, simple and with great characters and voice acting

Funnily enough the first 4 games were going for $2.99 or wherabouts during the summer sale :P

Minecraft did this, and most kickstarters do that too.
Minecraft was 10 during Alpha, 15 during Beta, and now it's at 20 I think? It had 3 prices to promote early buying.

Did Minecraft or any of those games shunt the price up just before a Steam sale, then have a discount making it exactly the same price as before?
