Steam "Exploration Sale" -- i.e. Autumn Sale -- now live (November 26 - December 2)

I played a little over two hours of Lords of the Fallen after taking the plunge with the discount. Don't really have too much of an opinion yet, but I can say I am liking it for its clear Dark Souls influences. Before I bought it, I was pretty concerned by steam forum posts and posts in the performance thread here frequently mentioning crashes. Thankfully, the worst I experienced during my playtime were some occasional frame drops in locations that weren't much different visually from others where it was normally locked at 60, and some minor visual flickering that occurred on rare occasions here and there. Not exactly ideal as I'd turned off some of the special settings like NVIDIA features, post processing, and the like in advance, but it was totally playable despite all of the technical horror stories I was reading online.

For what it's worth I was using (non OC'd):
GTX 970
i5 3570k
8GB ram

I don't think I've bought anything from a Steam sale since last Holiday sale. Smash Bros' EU release will hopefully make this one an easy skip, too!

I'm already looking at the store page

As we enter the holiday season: what is the best dating sim on Steam? My girlfriend expressed interest in Hatoful Boyfriend.

Interesting... Final Fantasy III, IV and XIII aren't on sale (yet) on Steam, but you can get Steam keys for half-off from Newegg.com's Black Friday sale. Unless I'm reading it wrong:

FFIII
FFIV
FFXIII

edit: oh actually they're whole steam catalog is discounted on there... huh

Get it straight from Ubisoft with Lara Croft game and it costs a total of $18. Much better deal and I believe both are Steamworks.

You can get the game for free on the Uplay/Ubisoft store by buying Lara Croft 2 for 17.99$. Both are steam keys and don't require the use of Uplay.

Can I get more details or a link on this? Getting both for Steam sounds like a hot deal.

Edit: Sorry, accidentally hit submit before I finished looking it up. Here's the link for those interested.

I didn't even MEAN to wind up at the store. I was just listening to music and then... then I was there.

Got out 40 bucks lighter than I went in. Considered that a minor victory. Picked up

The Evil Within
The Wolf Among Us
The Bit.Trip collection
Fez (had it on 360 before, but figured fuck it, I don't fire up the 360 hardly ever anymore)
The Stanley Parable

AAAAALMOST picked up Nidhogg (but the online is apparently still so busted people are still getting 0 people online when they search) and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, but decided against it.

Was not the collection of games I was thinking I'd leave with when I went in there, definitely.

Thinking of picking up Kerbal Space Program...

I really like the new store, endlessly scrolling through all the games is really nice.

Do it! Easily the best example of an early access game done right, and well worth jumping into - I've already spent a good 60hrs with it, and that's barely scratching the surface.

May well be on a Daily though, depending on how reduced it already is.

Oh really? :| This is one I was looking forward to, will have to read up on the issues.

Yeah, I was like "Oh shit, it's 7.50, that's PERFECT" but then I checked the update list, and there's nothing about patching or netcode improvements, and then I went to the forums and it's people all November with posts like "I can't find a game, where is everybody." and "The netcode is shit and they never fixed it." According to one post, one of the more typical online scenarios is that to you, everything seems to be running perfectly fine, but to your opponent, it's a total mess and then a disconnect occurs.

There's tons of reviews where people are talking about having a fucking blast playing multiplayer, but almost every single one of them (both professional and user-submitted) are talking about local multiplayer, not online.

Maybe try accessing the site using Hola Extension? It lets you access sites as if you're from a different country. Just install it, go to nuuvem, then change your country to say USA and try to see if it lets you buy it via paypal or such.

Hatoful Boyfriend is the best dating Sim I've ever played. It's also the only dating Sim I've played, since it's the only one that caters to my fetish.

In case someone missed that: Assassin’s Creed Unity Season Pass Cancelled, Ubisoft Giving Free Game and DLC : http://gimmegimmegames.com/2014/11/...-pass-cancelled-ubisoft-giving-free-game-dlc/

Isn't Tales from the borderlands the non-Steam ver. though?

South Park Stick of Truth for $24 - the lowest I've seen it but I think it can go lower

Amazon UK had it for around $15ish some days ago.

Hatoful is the one you'll want.

It's a flawed game to be sure but I had fun with it. There have been several patches that cleared up most of the crashes and some of the gameplay bugs.

Picked up a few cheap titles including BattleBlock Theater... I watched the trailer - haven't laughed that hard in ages. Also did pick up Runner2 to complete my Wii Complete disc at Christmas. Also, Stealth Bastard Deluxe and Shatter. Would liked to have more (wishlist is way way cheap) but "no money, no honey."

as someone who pretty much hates VNs and their ilk, I was gifted Hatoful Boyfriend and found it immensely enjoyable and entertaining.

I'm not sure there will be a daily, it's 20% off and I don't think it was ever cheaper.

This is the video that sold me on the game though:

I thought I was disinterested in this sale but just found that Gunhound EX is 80% off. Yoink! I'll get the Judge Dredd game too because I'm bad at handling money.

Fuck it, I'll get Dungeon of the Endless too even if the discount isn't crazy.

Hoping for a Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris sale!

First, is it actually a dating sim she's interested in or just a visual novel? Dating sim means it simulates "daily life" and the player would generally need to balance schedules between getting closer to a love interest or furthering personal goals in day-to-day basis.

Hatoful Boyfriend is mechanically just a simple visual novel, meaning that the player only needs to click to read the narratives while occasionally make decisions that might or might not affect the plot, ala a choose-your-own-adventure book.

Might I recommend this?

It's more of a princess builder than a dating sim...

But you can't go wrong with Katawa Shoujo, either... its great and free!

Yah, Katawa Shoujo is pretty great. LLTQ is a better game in concept than in execution I feel but I still like it.

Picked up Necrodancer despite my aversion to early access and the Reign of Giants DLC for Don't Starve. Keep bringing me deals, Steam!

Autumn have no effect on me too.
Winter Sale gonna be Gandal the White moment for me

Who are you? Nikola Tesla?

I'm definitely going to buy Evil Within at 66% off today.
However, I'm unsure about Lords of the fallen and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter ( both 40%).
Any chance they will be further discounted by the end of the sale?
If I don't get them today, will they be back to full price tomorrow?

They are dailies, so they will not get any further discounts. And yes, they will revert to either full price or a lower discount once the daily ends.

I wholeheartily recommend:
One Finger Death Punch - 2,49€ (it might go cheaper at winter sale, I remember it being cheaper before, but it's worth this price)
Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae - 2,49€ (cheapest it has been, I think)
LYNE - 0,89€ (if you can handle so much zen, really it's great!)
Critter Crunch - 2,03€ (as awesome as people say)
Bejeweled 3 - 2,49€ or PopCap Complete Pack - 27,99€ (self explanatory)
Civ5 Complete Edition - 9,99€ (one more turn)
Long Live The Queen - 3,49€ (the real GoT and GOTY)
