Steam "Exploration Sale" -- i.e. Autumn Sale -- now live (November 26 - December 2)

I said this in The Long Dark thread:

I backed it and it's pretty much what I was looking for in a winter-set singleplayer survival game.

It can be pretty brutal and you have to constantly balance your fatigue, cold, hunger and thirst levels. I almost feel like the pressure is a little too high, but without the constant threat, I think the game would lose some of its grasp on me.

It's interesting playing a game with so much focus on exploration where you really have to make some tough choices. I could climb that hill and see what's on the other side, but my body temperature is dropping fast and it's probably safer to just keep working through this valley in hopes of finding some shelter.

Also, wolves are jerks.
Awesome, sounds really great actually. It certainly looks interesting...

Thinking of getting evil within. 2 questions. Does the game have an option to remove black bars. And how's the fov off bars are removed?

No flash sales huh

What about lumps of coal/poo and cards etc. Is there no meta game in this sale?
Is there another Christmas sale coming?

Steam is a Petri dish of consumer experimentation.

Whatever they do or don't do they're doing to see what we do. The voodoo that they do...

Wasn't Skyrim Legandary edition less during the summer sale? For some reason I thought it was $19.99 at some point...

Hope everybody has a great Thanksgiving!

edit: Jase, you forgot the waitforthedailiesyoubastards.gif :D

it was $13.59 for Skyrim Legendary Edition during the summer sale when it had a daily

There is an option to remove black bars. The FoV is okay with bars disabled. There is an FoV tool (flawless widescreen) which lets you tweak the FoV even further beyond the default.

Is the multiplayer active on Guerilla?

Nope,

been trying to find a game going ever since they droped GFWL and have not found a single one.

At most, I find a couple of people waiting in the lobby but it never meets the required player count to start the game.

Dozens of games I want at great prices... yet I can't seem to pull the trigger on any of them. Did I unwittingly drink some Steam Sale antidote this morning?

I'm entering this thread to state that Battle Block Theater is off 90% - you should not hesitate to get this one if you like good platformers - just don't expect that this game is a Castle Crashers II

You could get one organized in the NeoGAF Game Night group!

Technically you are of course correct but realistically I would be very surprised to see anything done about this especially considering the thousands of copies of Valiant Hearts that got activated in the same way due to the price error and nothing has ever come of it.

Valiant Hearts wasn't region-locked until a few hours after the price error.

Wow, great prices for The Evil Within and Wolfenstein (nuuvem). Really want both but I won't have time to get into them until like January so I might as well wait and see if they go even lower between now and then.

This is my first Steam sale so I have a question, mainly regarding CS: GO.

Is $7.49 the cheapest price the game will see during this sale, or will it decrease as the deal nears the end? How do you know which ones remain consistent and which fluctuate
That's the cheapest it will go. It used to go down to $3.74 but it flooded the game with smurf accounts and hackers every time, pissing off the community so Valve stopped doing it. It's well worth the $7.50, easily the best competitive online fps out there right now.

What is a smurf account?

Does anyone have any idea on the region locking situation of Metal Gear Rising Revengeance on Nuuvem?

It seems like I can buy it, but some internet sources are saying I won't be able to play it unless I'm in South America.

Anyone?

It's region-locked at the activation level if you're in Asia, in which case you need to use a VPN to register the key. That's it.

I'm planning to do just that (in Singapore) but Nuuvem is region locked as well? It says the product is unavailable in my region.

How is Don't Starve?

How do you feel about completely directionless gameplay? Like, really open ended, nothing telling you what to do, just bars that are going down and finding out ways to fill them back up. No ending, increasingly harsh conditions, just see how long you can last. Trying to find sustainable ways to keep fed, sane, and warm while resources deplete and enemies grow more volatile.

It's certainly not for everyone. I love(d) the art but it wasn't for me.

I've resisted so many sales on my wish list so far in the past year. This will test my resolve.

Well this should be interesting.
I'm a recent entrant to PC gaming and it's been great buying so many games in one year for ridiculous sale/bundle prices. Too many games lol.
We'll see if I can resist the sales this time haha

Goat simulator is a sleeper hit.

I've had fun just roaming around doing stupid stuff. And this MMO thing now is hilarious.

Goat simulator is hilarious. But I would hardly call it a sleeper hit. The game is a huge seller both on PC and mobile, and was #1 on the google play store for a while :(Still might be)

How is Don't Starve?

Open world, no direction and no clear goals. You just do tedious stuff to stay alive as many days as you can until you inevitably die, which then grants you exp (or was points? I cant remember) based on how many days you survive to unlock more characters with different perks.

It's pretty good for what it is, but I recommend you use a guide to get far.

I find it is best to go through those games blind, making discoveries organically rather than through guides.

I enjoyed Don't Starve tremendously.
